Protesters attend "March for Our Guns" rally

In response to nation wide gun control protests over the weekend, activists organized spirited “March for Our Guns” counter-protests.

The deep divide which has colored the gun control debate for decades has been passed on to a younger generation looking for change. In the wake of the recent mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, youth voices have led the charge in organizing gun control advocates. Hundreds of thousands joined in solidarity to protest against gun violence in the nationwide marches this past weekend.

Although all the cameras were trained on the youth activists, there were some young people who chose to protest in favor of Second Amendment rights. Although fewer in number than their gun control counterparts, groups of youth gun enthusiasts organized their own events in defense of the right to bear arms.

Protesting the Protest

In Montana, youngsters eager to counter the much anticipated “March for Our Lives” event organized their own “March for Our Guns” protest at the state Capitol. Similar counter-protests also took place in Utah, California and Indiana. The events were entirely peaceful, though organizers apparently had to encourage attendees to keep their guns at home.

At the Montana rally, 18-year-old college student Joey Chester told reporters that gun ownership is vital to a free society and expressed concern about “alarmist rhetoric” that could be used to take guns away from law-abiding youngsters like himself. Since it’s a right enshrined in the Constitution, he “didn’t want to see that infringed upon for law-abiding citizens.”

Female teen posing with guns

Gun advocacy groups and manufacturers are encouraging young people to become gun owners. Is that a good thing?

16-year-old Austyn Brown also attended the rally but was disappointed that most people his age chose to instead attend a “March for Our Lives” event at a nearby park. “They need to get educated about guns,” Brown said. “Media has been shoved in their head that guns will kill them, that guns are evil, and only bad people carry guns. That’s so untrue.”

Montana state Rep. Seth Berglee got cheers from the crowd when he brought up the recent story of a Maryland school security guard who stopped an active shooter by returning fire. “The idea that disarming citizens is the path to school safety is a farce,” Berglee said.

A Clash of Ideas

Another counter-protest was held in Valparaiso, Indiana – this one scheduled right alongside the gun control march. “We just want to be heard. The gun community is being steamrolled. We just want to have our community seen,” explained one of the organizers.

The local authorities were careful to keep the groups separated, but that didn’t prevent some verbal sparring. During the face-off, gun rights advocates chanted “protect our freedom; protect our guns.” The March for Our Lives activists responded with: “No more silence; end gun violence.”

Despite strong disagreement, the protest events concluded without incident. However, both sides appear deeply entrenched in their views.

The Next Generation of Gun Owners

Looking ahead, it’s hard to say how this highly-charged debate will play out. Surely lawmakers understand they can’t simply ignore the hundreds of thousands of young soon-to-be voters who’ve mobilized in favor of stricter gun laws. Then again, the presence of counter-protesters demonstrate that not all American youth think alike.

There is a significant group of young people who grew up hunting and target shooting – for whom guns are an integral part of their lives. For them, firearms don’t necessarily represent violence – they are tools of safety, security, and recreation.

As gun advocacy groups and manufacturers look to cultivate a younger following, shooting sports continue to gain in popularity, often advertised as family activities with far lower injury rates than soccer or skiing.

This is nothing new – young people have been schooled in the ways of gun culture for generations here in America. But some argue this obsession over guns is precisely what led us down the path towards high rates of gun violence and horrific mass shootings.

From a moral perspective, would America be better off encouraging its children to be gun owners, or pushing them to renounce gun culture?

we can’t ban hammers because they smash fingers. Any tool can be used for bad as well as good. it is just the nature of the human to be unpredictable. i believe the majority of truly informed citizen know that firearms are not the issue. it is a human issue,a social issue and we can not remove our foundations because they are ugly to some..

    1. william says:

that’s right. They don’t have social issues in any other country on Earth. The USA is the only place with social issues which is why we have this unique human issue of bodies being ripped apart by bullets sprayed out from people and not from guns since no gun ever killed anyone.

      1. John Owens says:

Interesting description. Would you describe automobile crashes and abortions for us, please?

Bullets do what they are made to do. Humans do what they are taught to do, like dogs.

None of that has anything to do with the 2nd Amendment. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were put in place to limit the powers of GOVERNMENT. Without the 2nd Amendment Government can do whatever it likes, which is why we have it.

        1. JOHN MAHER says:

AND YOU JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS SURE DO BARK at EVERYTHING and ANYTHING LIKE a STARVING for ATTENTION DOG on a CHAIN, BARK, BARK, BARK, sit UP for DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP, JOHNNY DAWG !!!

          1. John Owens says:

And you are a silent observer? The strong quiet type? Very reserved?

          2. Jack says:

I’m sure that made sense to you, in your head, right? A bit mental, are you?

          3. JOHN MAHER says:

JACK do U HAVE a PROBLEM with MY POST ???

          4. Tim king says:

John maher. I’ve never been in trouble. Do you still think I should give up my guns? I have a 9 month old boy who will be hunting with me when he is old enough. But until then I will be teaching him gun safety and will be doing a lot of target practice. Do you own a gun? What if someone breaks in your home and threatens your family? What are you going to do? Wait on the police to bring there guns? Are you going to stab them with a knife maybe hit them with a hammer.

        2. Critter Catcher says:

John Owens, how much nut would a gun nut nut if a gun nut saw kids die?

          1. John Owens says:

How long will it take liberal nuts to realize that nutty liberal policies create the nutty problems caused by nutty liberals living in the land of the free and that MORE nutty liberal policies will only make things nuttier?

          2. Quasihedron says:

John Owens, I’d say that Trump and the Republicans are the nutter brand now.

          3. N.M. says:

Seen a lot of dead kids, have we??

Can we ban bad parents first?? I’ve seen way more children beaten to death and back-room aborted than I’ve seen shot. Literally dozens more. Violence is violence. Guns are guns. The issues are related but I think the danger of mankind against itself has very little to do with the tools we choose to use for destruction.

        3. Rik Venerable says:

Our forefathers believed all our rights came from God, not man. I fully agree with that premise. Our rights were instilled in us by God for freedom of decision, to decide which opinions are best for ourselves, our families and the followers of Gods word around us.

God tells us not to murder, he did not tell us not to protect ourselves and others. If the required taking a life to save the life of another, so be it. Self defense is not, nor has ever been considered murder.

          1. Glenn M. Dawn says:

Well said my friend. The CHILDREN who are demonstrating for gun control would be better served by staying in the classroom and learning a little history about our nation and the rights that were documented by our founders. And yes, our rights are God given and self defense is required by God.

      2. James Rankin says:

That is totally untrue other countries their citizens are not allowed to have guns and they are the countries that have the most per capita murder rates in the world because no one has the ability to defend themselves

        1. Ivan says:

That’s very true at the moment..London has a higher murder rate than New York..

          1. Ivan says:

People/Families no matter which country they come from should have the choice & the right to defend and protect themselves..
Unfortunately the World is changing, Crime / Violence is rapidly increasing..and shows no sign of coming down…
It is on our door step for many of us..

          2. John Owens says:

They DO have that God-given right, even though some Godless people wish to rob them of it. That right can only GIVEN away. Not taken.

          3. Fred says:

You need to look at 2017 rates not just last month.

        2. Jack says:

Wrong. Sweden and some other Scandinavian countries are all armed. They keep their weapons from armed forces training at home.

      3. Vinny says:

Please don’t. Europe,Australia, subversion is everywhere in the world. People use cars planes trucks, fire, poison, sticks, stones, whatever’s available.
It has been proven that our 2nd amendment preserves life and liberty when not infringed upon. You should thank God you live in the US and work to protect the 2nd from all enemies foreign and domestic

      4. Gregg says:

More people’s lives have been ended, or “ripped apart” if you would like to make it more dramatic, by people texting while driving. You are not willing to give up your cell phone, are you? Or we can limit the use of cell phones. Like, make it illegal to text and drive, oh yeah, we already did.

    2. Jim Windwalker says:

I am a minister and Christian believer for 50 years. I own guns and a ranch and use my rifles for predator control. I do have handguns mostly to use for target practice. If I leave them locked in my safe they do not move they do not show me an opinion and they do not kill. A gun is an in animate object incapable of doing anything on its own. if I leave them locked in my safe they do not move they do not show me an opinion and they do not kill. We all forget that Satan Has his agenda and there are people that will be used by him regardless of whether they have access to guns or not

    3. Mathys Smit says:

Guns are not the problem, by them selves they can do no harm ,the problem is the human condition, sick people use guns to cause harm.
In Africa knives are responsible for the killing of far more people than people who die from gun inflicted violence in the US.
Must knives be banned ,or guns be controlled more strictly,NO people need to be educated and while there are charters for human rights there need to be a charter for responsibility also !

    4. Minister Just A Thought says:

Do you want to stop kids from killing kids? Then kids need to stop bullying one another, social media bullying, cyber bullying, stop hating on a student because they don’t wear the same clothes you wear. For all the ELITE kids out there who think that their Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie Fitch, or whatever name brand you wear is better than those kids that wear the generic brand, let me OPEN your eyes….look at the tag on the back of your collar, that tag says made in China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, or some other country and those logos on your shirt might have cost a whole $2.00 to be put on your shirt. Maybe the people you need to be making fun of are yourselves because you probably just spent roughly $60 to $80 over what the value of that shirt costs. Think about the money you could put towards and education with all that wasted money.
Only so much can be taken by someone before they break and you already know what can happen from this. Stop the hate now and you will see a better future, there is no reason for kids not to get along in schools. It’s not like you kids are competing for a higher paying job here. Does it really make you feel better to make fun of someone else? Are you hiding something in your own life that makes you want to do this? Get along with everyone, because kids, once you get out of school, everyone is on the same playing field.
Think of it this way: lets say you picked on that nerdy kid his whole time in high school, now you are both out of school and in the work force. How would you, the person who made fun of him/her for being nerdy, feel if they are now your boss? You would want them to treat you fair and nice, you’d want the same respect that everyone else gets, but why should they show you this? You couldn’t even afford them this in school, why is it their responsibility to show you kindness when you couldn’t?

So before you go forth into the school yard and see that wimpy kid, poor kid, or even the nerdy kid, think twice as your actions could cause a reverse action that could upset the lives of everyone around you. Instead, why not ask them to be apart of your group or even ask a down trodden student what is bothering them. Hate goes one way, but the other leads to a great future.

  2. Minister Barry says:

Keep our right to own guns.Screen the
People better.A gun can’t do any harm
Alone, must be a person operating it.

    1. katy wall says:

lets take that approach to other things. why are we concerned about iran and north korea having nukes? afterall, nukes don’t kill people, people kill people

      1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Katy I am pretty sure these ammophiles would love to have their own personal nukes.

      2. John Owens says:

Iran and North Korea are the national equivalent of insane people. Insane people cannot be trusted with anything, including propane appliances or power tools.

        1. Carl Elfstrom says:

What about matches, John? They could burn off their beards and turbins with those. And don’t they believe that their place in heaven depends on how long their beards are ?

          1. John Owens says:

I’m not sure what they believe, Carl. What little I know is that for the most part, they are oppressive, blood-thirsty and superstitious, and completely machistic.

          2. Quasihedron says:

John Owens, you just described the Republican gun nuts!

          3. JOHN MAHER says:

the GREATEST OBSERVATION U have MADE to DATE { HOW LITTLE U KNOW } that DESERVES an A for EFFORT JOHN SWARMY WEASEL OWINS……….

      3. Pastor Richard H. says:

That’s a thought Perhaps You think you are a Clever liberal. ha ha but if Those Country’s Had rational Leaders I wouldn’t have a Problem with them having nukes .we don’t Lawfully give guns to mental patients an we deter mental leaders in the same way. Now if SAFTEY for KIDS in School is the issue Why NOT put the Energy an time into doing something that will Immediately Have a Positive effect physically and Mentally for all concerned. How bout March for a Smart Plan utilizing all our tools an technology to man an install equipment in OUR Children’s Schools that will help secure their Safety. Securing the Schools can Be done at once an it is an issue that Every Concerned American Can Support. Because Gun control will not Happen, Its a way the Democrats scrounge up votes in an Emotional Environment. been going on 200 years now around election time.. School SECURITY WE ALL WANT THAT.

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

I haven’t heard our government say anything about amending the second amendment, and nothing ever said on this blog could ever possibly change that. So why waste your breaths.

    3. RJ says:

Isaiah 2:4 ye shall heed his word or ye shall be condemned to eternal hell. Mathew 7:15 Satan shall lead the astray .

      1. Pastor Amen says:

I watched many of the rallies our youth marched on gun control. Not once did I hear any of them ask to change the second amendment. They were marching to keep these crazy nut jobs from entering their schools and shooting at them for any reason. If a person is mentally challenged they should not own a gun! If a person indicates they want to perform bodily harm on another person they should not own a gun. All people should undertake gun classes before owning a gun! This is not for more government control but rather for our safety. Lock your guns up when not in use and report any thefts to police, keep our guns out of unlawful hands! Gun safety and better control is just good common sense.
Last, Matthew 5:17? really? Read the book, take a gun safety class, talk to a child that has to perform predator drills then come back and respond.
        God Bless All

        1. Keoni May says:

Maybe school kids, should stop bullying kids, who may turn into those mentally dangerous kids.

Bullying happened during my time, in elementary school, in the 1950s.

It is not the weapon. It is the person.

When you push a person, passed their mental breaking point, you have a walking time bomb on your hands.

Wherever weapon, that they can get a hold of, will become their weapon of terror.

    4. Susan says:

You know I don’t think it is unreasonable to limit the ability of mentally unstable people to acquire guns. That being said, law abiding citizens who hunt and enjoy shooting for sport, have the right to obtain them. It’s really a moral dilemma. Gun enthusiasts don’t want to see mass shootings any more than the victims do. And those who support gun control are not wanting to deny hunters and sport shooters of their fun.

But polarizing and calling people names like “lib-tards” or “ammosexuals” serves no useful purpose at all. Gun control is not the same as banning guns. Nobody minds having to take driving courses and learn how to safely operate a motor vehicle. What is wrong with requiring gun safety education and licensing? When the constitution and the 2nd amendment was written, there were no automatic weapons. Folks, we need to be reasonable about this.

      1. Glenn M. Dawn says:

What’s wrong is you do not need a license to exercise a right unlike operating an automobile which is a privilege. By the way, “automatic” weapons are already strictly regulated. I agree, we need to be reasonable and enforce existing laws which would have prevented the school shooting in Florida. The government and local sheriff’s office were the failures in this case, not lack of gun control or the NRA. The NRA is comprised of LAW ABIDING citizens of this country.

        1. Pastor Richard H. says:

You are correct a license or a permit is another way of saying you can have this right just as long as you get this permit to be regulated. Driving an traveling on the road is a right it becomes a privilege as soon as you sign that paper as a new driver signing away your right to free travel. If you Never got a permit or drivers license as a kid you would never need one. Just a little unknown fact.

      2. Keoni Ronald May says:

You might strongly consider, the mental health exclusion category, when it involves PTSD.

The military community, the law enforcement community, the firefighters community, and the emergency medical community, can develop PTSD from their employment.

Do you really want to blanket them, with a mental health restriction?

        1. Pastor Richard H. says:

It wouldn’t include Emotional disorders like Depression PTSD or bi-polar, It would be written for people who have been committed by officials against their will, have more than a 72 hr watch, I’m sure it would be for serious psychiatric Mental Diagnosis. But What gets me is these people aren’t the ones going on sprees. It seems to be people that r angry, or have a point to make ,9 times out of ten they Have direct ties to democrat party through Voting or they Identify with SOME type of VICTIM Group covered under the LIBERAL UMBRELLA . Never a NRA MEMBER or a REPUBLICAN. Just thought I’d point that fact out.

          1. Keoni Ronald May says:

Unfortunately, PTSD is included, in the mental health firearms exclusion.

  3. Jim says:

Amen James and Barry. It is nice to hear some common sense on this issue. As the old saying goes Guns don’t kill people, People kill people.

  4. JOHN MAHER says:

THE ISSUE is NOT the RIGHT to OWN GUNs, that is a SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT and I AGREE with the 2nd Amendment, WHY DOES ANYONE NEED MILITARY ARMS A / O AMMO ??? and that INCLUDES the POLICE DEPTs. ALL of them…………………………..

    1. Joe says:

      Your comment demonstrates your ignorance.
Guns have been modernized like every thing else in our lives. You probably don’t drive a Model T .
An m1 carbine that has been available for decades does the same thing as an AR15. The AR is just better.
Gun owners are the nuts that the libral gun grabbers portray. Wether it is hunting ,competive shooting or more serious uses the best equipment is necessary.
I would be more worried about those who would sacrifice 17 students to trigger an obviously pre planned protest.

      1. John Owens says:

Exactly, Joe. OBVIOUSLY orchestrated with complicit police department personnel, then actors and financiers leading the teens to do their bidding like little brainwashed communists.

        1. British Colin says:

……says the guy brainwashed by Fox News, the NRA, and Alex Jones. John Owens, you are too much!

          1. John Owens says:

British Colin, you have an overactive imagination. A) The NRA doesn’t brainwash people. B) They have no outlet that reaches me, aside from the leftist propaganda spouted by morons. C) I don’t get Fox News or Alex Jones on Roku. D) YOU must be one of those poor saps who believes in CNN, MSNBC, Joy Behar, Oprah, etc., and you want to call me brainwashed! Pathetic. Any rational person (which, admittedly, you are NOT) would want several questions answered before trying to strip a civil right and FOLLOWING a bunch of crooked lefties and glorifying their stooges.

What was the SECRET SERVICE doing there at a SCHOOL previously? Since when does the SS do school security drills in FLORIDA?

How come in an affluent, well-policed neighborhood, the FBI and CNN were the first to arrive?

How come the students who said there were more than one shooter have been ignored?

How come the Hogg “kid” has managed to make the news in three states over the last six months. and then LIED about being there when the shooting started? Then he later said he rode over on his bicycle.

How can you believe a bunch of teens orchestrated these big marches?

YOU’D HAVE TO BE A BRAINWASHED MORON TO BELIEVE THAT. These are just OBVIOUS questions you are too brainwashed to ask yourself.

          2. British Colin says:

Oh sweetheart… you’re too far gone to see how brainwashed by right wing propaganda you truly are. Aren’t you the guy who thinks Obama is a Kenyan Muslim?

Everyone say it with me now, John Owens has gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs!

          3. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Yeah Owen buys into even the most outlandish conspiracy theories, believes in the willfully ignorant delusion called creationism, thinks the world is only around 7000 years old, pretty sure is a flat earther to, so safe bet whatever he thinks is not worth a grain of salt. Hell its not worth a thing at all.

          4. JOHN MAHER says:

BRITISH COLIN, JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS has been SPEWING VERBAL DIARRHEA as ALWAYs A TRUE FOLLOWER of DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP, VILLAGE IDIOT SHEEP, BAAH, BAAH, BAAH…….ACTUALLY HE is TOO LITTLE, MINDED that IS………..

          5. John Owens says:

You two excrement-for-brains sheeple are too far gone to even admit you don’t know very much, but that would be a HUGE step for you. You should really try it, instead of thinking you know so much. You really don’t.

And T’Keren, are you saying there is no group of ADULTS sponsoring and backing the students who keep getting air time on the mainstream media? THAT’S A DAMNED CONSPIRACY, YOU IMBECILE! Just because something is called a conspiracy does not mean it is not happening, and NOT believing something that is OBVIOUSLY happening makes you a willful imbecile.

You cannot honestly call the NRA a terrorist organization BECAUSE THEY DO NOT TERRORIZE ANYONE.

You guys live in a constant state of denial, and that makes you pitiful.

          6. British Colin says:

I dunno John, lobbying to keep military grade weapons in the hands of children so they can slaughter their classmates damn near every week sure sounds like terrorism to me. Perhaps you should go outside, get some fresh air, and realize you’ve been systematically brainwashed for years by right-wing media to believe even the most outlandish conspiracies. A useful idiot, if you will.

If I were you, I’d be pretty mad about that.

          7. John Owens says:

British Colin, you are lying through your F-ing teeth. No one is lobbying to keep Military grade weapons in the hands of children. And students are not slaughtered “damn near every week.” That is a super-stupid thing to say. Why can’t you be the least bit honest and rational? Terrorists terrorize and intimidate. You have some kind of reality break going on.

          8. British Colin says:

You’re a puppet of the NRA and rightwing talk radio, John. Just admit you’re brainwashed, we’ll all be better off!

          9. Quasihedron says:

I agree with British Colin. John Owens is completely unhinged and ready to fly off the edge of a cliff.

          10. Pastor Richard H. says:

I read thru these messages an seems to me on one hand you have a couple of young ignorant guys trying to disagree just to do it And John Owens on the other hand is Correct in the facts he puts out there His mistake is trying to have a Rational Debate with Kids who have Never FELT the Spared Rod, never Kept Score in a game they played at school an Have been raised to be very POOR LOSERS, IF DEMOCRATS an LIBERALS CARED a LITTLE BIT Just a lil Bit About DEAD KIDS the Whole scene Would have went Something like “(“This”” (instead of Attacking rights n republicans) Dems in Congress would Have Within Hours Been talking to America And the Media Asking For the Best ways to Mobilize people and Business, NRA Members , Police Retired military or Wounded Warriors ,Anyone Who felt they Could Contribute Money , Time, Equipment ,Ideas, TECH. Support. Guns n Ammo, personal Vests. ANYTHING From ANYONE that would help Put together a Working Program other Communities Could USE TO SECURE The SAFETY And WELFARE of school Children Across the WHOLE Country ” This is what WILL WORK to SAVE LIVES . “NOT” a 200 Year Ol AGENDA to Scrounge UP VOTES around ELECTION TIME, SEE MY way Almost EVERY AMERICAN Could Support an GET Behind, BUT THE Way the Liberals Pulled the strings By Standing on Dead Kids graves n Using live ones as Props Less than Half the People can get behind BUT it SERVES THEIR PURPOSE DRIVING EMOTION n HATE Between GROUPS an DIVIDES US. THIS is HOW they OPERATE on a DAILY BASIS. I’m Sure you LIBERAL Kids will make a Smart remark an call me Names But IF you CAN WHAT is WRONG with the Way I LAID it out. you HAVE to see Dems Don’t care except for themselves. I sit n ponder.

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

Maybe they had dreams about saving the country singlehandedly. Well, they believe that dream or delusion that St. John had.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

I never would have imagined that British Colin thought of John Owens as his sweet heart. Oh my ! I guess he likes being talked dirty to.

        1. JOHN MAHER says:

YEAH JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS EVERYONE is ONTO YOUR TOTAL IGNORANCE, WELL ANYONE that can READ WHAT YOU BABBLE, VILLAGE IDIOT of DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP !!!

    3. Chuck says:

What is a military arm? Do you have any idea what you’re talking about? I think you’re more concerned with appearance than reality. But, I could be wrong.

    4. Roberet Messmer says:

Since you claim to agree with the 2nd Amendment, I would suggest to you that you consider the fact that no where in it does it state that citizens not be allowed to own military grade weapons. Indeed the muskets owned by the farmers etc who became the Revolutionary Army were the latest and greatest military weapons of the day. That is not to say that there was no technological improvements going on – a patent had be granted on what was called a ‘machine gun’ before 1722. The Cookson Repeater circa 1750 could fire a dozen rounds before reloading. There was even a 7 shot pistol available. The Girandoni air rifle, capable of 20 shots and killing at a distance of 100 yards, was used by the Austrian army as early as 1780. As a side note in at least three of The Federalist Papers the second amendment is talked about and in one of them it is stated that the citizens should have the same type of weapons that an army would use. I will also note that it is called “The Bill of Rights”; not ‘The Bill of Needs’

  5. Jolene says:

What next…..Banning hands as they kill people. …Where does all this ignorance come from? ?????

you realize when 1 child choked on a toy in a candy egg, the government immediately made those eggs illegal. where do you think seatbelts came from? this is totally normal to see that 1 thing overwhelming contributes to a problem and to address that thing and how it’s handled.

      1. Cheryl says:

I agree. So shouldn’t they address the issue as to why these children are shooting up schools. Doesn’t anyone think that trying to figure that out will help the situation. There us a reason behind everyone of these shootings and those reasons should be discovered.

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

In ancient times they cut off the hands of thieves, but that was after the offense. It might work, to deter others. Of course, it all comes from very demented imaginations, which are thought to be housed in our brains. So maybe they’ll bring back the guillotine, or call Duncan Mc Cloud.

  6. bob says:

I hear of loud marching school kids demanding safe schools, demanding gun law changes, demanding this and that. They don’t know what they’re talking about. They’re not mature enough to understand our Constitution and their responsibility to it. Their ‘mob’ behavior and skipping school shows their irresponsibility and rebellion. Their marches are full of the noise of a ‘herd migration’, but lack objectivity, individuality and the willingness to use proper channels to make changes. Protest marches are NOT patriotic, but show their mob to be long on noise, but short on intelligent, effective, and workable solutions. Stay in school and learn what freedom really costs; learn what citizenship means; and learn what a wonderful country in which they are privileged to live.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Bob, you took the words right out of my mouth. I couldn’t agree more.

    2. Quasihedron says:

If you think children do not have any brains, then you have even less.

    3. Fred says:

So the klan/nazi marches are better because….

  7. Clay says:

A gun has NEVER jumped up and shot someone and won’t ever do it by itself. A person must make the gun shoot. Gun control IS NOT the answer.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

What if they boobie trapped a door with a gun right before someone walked through it ?

      1. Roberet Messmer says:

What about it? The gun still is not doing the shooting by itself, it is only reacting to whatever trigger mechanism was set by the PERSON setting the booby trap.

  8. T'Keren Valmaz says:

As always the Ammophiles blow the whole thing out of proportion.

What sane people are asking for is

1.Having a license to own or carry a firearm.
    a. for this license to have strict requirements including an extensive psychological profile to get it, with additional ones every 6 months.
    b. for there to be a ban on magazines with capacity over 10 rounds.
    c. for gun owners to have to own large as in too heavy to easily be moved gun safes to store their weapons in and combination safes only so as to prevent the risk of a key being stolen.
    d. a limit on how much ammo one can own,and require all spent casings to be turned in when buying more to prevent mass ammo build ups such as seen in the las vegas mass shooting.
    e. for an end to accessories that make shooting easier, such as muzzle breaks, light weight stocks, laser sights etc. These make hunting and sporting guns into weapons that belong on the battlefield.

2/ An end to the law loopholes that allow for the so called ghost guns. As well as an end to private sales or inheriting guns. All guns should have to be resold to gun shops or turned into law enforcement for disposal if no longer wanted.
    a. For all guns to be registered and for random inspection by authorities to make sure all weapons are still owned. If a weapon is stolen it must be reported within 24 hours or the registered owner will suffer equal charges to the thief for any crime committed with the weapon.

And really anyone that disagrees with these is being unreasonable as they should be non issues to law abiding people that want to hunt or target shoot.

    1. Joe says:

Treat gun owners like criminals while we let criminals go free.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

With all those criminals on the streets wouldn’t it be safer to be in jail ? They’ll even throw in three hots and a cot,and commissary twice a week, but avoid the sex. Sex isn’t good in jail.

      2. Quasihedron says:

If you own a gun, then you intend to kill. It is that simple.

        1. Vinny says:

Not true it’s just that simple.

        2. Keoni Ronald May says:

Using your logic; therefore, all firearms owners, intend to kill people ! ?

Do active duty Military Personnel and active duty Law Enforcement Officers, intend or want to kill people?

Do military veterans who own firearms and retired law enforcement officers who own firearms, intend or want to kill people?

Since criminals and the mentally insane will be the only ones, to possess any dangerous weapons, who will stop them?

    2. John Owens says:

You are falling for the bullshit. It isn’t about the rifles AT ALL. YOU are being unreasonable. That kid should not have been there.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

That kid should not have been anywhere. God should not have even made him. But try telling God that. He’s totally obsessed with creating, and just wants to see how we’re going to react to his rejects.

        1. John Owens says:

God didn’t make that kid. Liberalism made that kid. And liberalisms answer is: BLAME THE NRA! Buncha stupid jackasses.

          1. JOHN MAHER says:

JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS, are U FAMILIAR with the PHRASE, OPINIONS are LIKE A Hs WE ALL HAVE ONE BUTT in YOUR CASE YOUR REAR END MUST LOOK LIKE A SWISS CHEESE or HAVE YOU BEEN INCARCERATED ???

          2. JOHN MAHER says:

YEAH JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS, GOD DID’NT MAKE LITTLE GREEN APPLES and it DON’T RAIN in INDIANAPOLIS in the SUMMERTIME, U use the GODs WHEN CONVENIENT NO BOOGER, A TRUE BELIEVER LIKE UR DADDY DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP

          3. Jim says:

Hey John Owens, I think you should give up on John Maher, You are not going to get him to understand anything. He is either to High or to stupid to try and hold a conversation with. I have looked at yours and other posts and most people seem to want to actually discuss things but him and T’keren just want to inflame with their leftist cool aid. They have been watching way to much CNN and at his point I don’t think they could know or understand the truth if it hit them in the face. If you look at other blogs that they have posted on they are all over the map. I don’t think they believe half the stuff that they are writing about.

          4. Quasihedron says:

God didn’t make any children. Their parents did that. And religion is a complete debilitating brainwashing, as is CONservativism. To be an approved murderer, you mUST pay the NRA dues. Buncha evil murdering power-hungry jackasses. If you own a gun, then you intend to kill. You are guilty when you take possession of a gun.

    3. John Owens says:

The second amendment is not about hunting or target shooting.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

        I can’t argue with that.

    4. Jim says:

T’Keren you are Dead wrong on these issues. Everything that you listed restricts my rights. In most states you must get a License to carry. I have no problem with a psych profile when you are purchasing a gun for a new owner however are you going to now require all Gun owners to get a psych profile in order to keep their guns? The number of bullets my gun has the capacity to hold is a non issue. These are not automatic weapons and I can change out a clip almost as fast as pulling a trigger. Where I store my guns is no ones business if its in a LARGE safe or a drawer that’s up to me. I have no problem with holding parents responsible to their child if the gun is obtained in the home. Once we start outlawing accessories then the rest will follow, that is why so many gun advocates are against any laws because once it starts it gets easier to change. No inheriting Guns that’s about a stupid a statement as I have heard. You want to make it where I cant pass down my grandfathers old mussel loader or shotgun. I don’t own a registered gun and don’t plan to. How many and what type of guns I own is my business not the governments. Once I register then they now where to go to get them. Random inspections by authorities are you out of your mind. Authorities don’t have the right to enter my home without probable cause that I have committed a crime and you want to give them a free pass to enter my house whenever they like. Hey here’s an idea how about we just pass a law that the authorities can enter a home to check for anything you own. Knifes, guns, bombs, drugs etc. where will we stop it. IF you think that the list you have here is reasonable you don’t live in the same country as I do. and if you think that anyone who disagrees with this little list is unreasonable then by all means call me unreasonable.

      1. katy wall says:

your argument is beyond silly. Written and driving tests to obtain a driver’s license and regular vision checks inconvenience law abiding citizens but it helps stop death so we do it. Your position is essentially complete anarchy. Since you are helping yourself to the position that laws only impede law abiding citizens while letting criminals go, you’ll have to explain how you would justify any laws whatsoever. And your notion that a “bad guy” will be dastardly twirling a mustache as he goes to buy a gun and we just need to stop people like that is flat out moronic. Almost everyone fits the “good guy” description since they haven’t improperly used a gun until they have, in which case it’s too late. You naively think because it’s easy for us to see with hindsight that it’s often easy to spot someone who will end up being a bad guy later down the line. You are so wildly detached from reality

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Oh how terrible abit of over sight to make sure people are mentally stable. The horror! Frankly I think every one should have to attend weekly mental health therapy sessions. Its called being proactive as the stresses of life eventually wear people thin.

But I can tell just about everyone here responding is so consumed by 2nd cultism that they are beyond reason.

By the nine I look forward to humanity being dominated by machines. People like you prove free will isnt something many of our species deserve.

        2. Roberet Messmer says:

Do you currently have to take written and driving tests, along with vision checks every 6 months? I don’t here in Illinois. And I will point out that nothing that we do will stop death. Every living thing dies at some time or another. As far as your hindsight comment, in the case of the Parkland school it was not hindsight. The FBI was notified, not once but twice by people who saw something and said something, but did nothing. The local cops knew about him since they had responded any where from 23 to 49 times, depending on which news media story. Everything from throwing rocks at passing cars to holding a gun to someone’s head. Even dispatched a crisis response unit to the school for him once. But not a single arrest, in fact no action at all. Just a case of Liberals blindly looking the other way.

    5. John Owens says:

Your little section 1(a) is totally insane and out of the question for obvious reasons. Section 1(c) as well, because you are dictating to another what to do with their own property, infringing on their property rights. Section 1(d) more stupid than 1(a) and totally impossible. 1(e) shows how you are believing the bullshit the left is shoveling to you.
Category 2), once again, totally insane, an infringement on property rights and inheritance law. 2(a) RANDOM inspection? That’s hilarious. Sounds like you are really in love with the idea of a police state. The second part, if that logic was applied to parolees and illegal alien criminals and people who commit perjury, you’d cry that it wasn’t compassionate.

Your last statement just says you are a total idiot because hardly anything you said is reasonable AT ALL and then you say anyone who disagrees is Unreasonable. This is why, when you morons say “COMMON SENSE,” you show you are idiots because you don’t HAVE common sense, therefore, you cannot comprehend common sense.

YOU are totally unreasonable and irrational.

    6. Jim Haney says:

      Hi t’keren

I do understand where you are coming from. I understand to you it seems like an easy fix. The problem with what you are proposing is it limits a constitutional right and what people forget is the 2nd amendment is not for hunting, sport shooting, or self defence. The 2nd amendment is there in case anyone including the government tries to take any of our rights we can kill them. I know that doesn’t sound pleasant but that is the reason for it. If you want to ban or limit the right to firearms the first thing you need to d o is change the constitution. In the mean time sdince that would litteraly take 30 years or so to pull off how about other things we can do to prevent shootings. First punish states and cities that do not report crimes like they are supose to. Infforce the laws that already exist. Put basic securtity measures at schools. Accept the fact that we have millions of firearms in this country why is it not manditory to be educated about them.

    7. Roberet Messmer says:

LOL Sorry but sane people are asking for the government, at all levels, to follow the US Constitution. How about if we apply all of what you categorize as sane requirements to other weapons, such as cars. A – Extensive psychological profiles every six months to keep your driving license (a privilege, not actually a right). After all cars kill around 50,000 people in the US as opposed to around 13,000 killed by use of a gun. Besides 11 teens a day are killed by texting and driving, so let us keep our kids safe! B – Let us ban any car from traveling at faster than 10 miles per hour because as we all know “Speed Kills”. C – Any time a car is not in use it must be booted, that way it can not be stolen and used In a crime. D – No more than 2 gallons of gas allowed at one time. E – An end to accessories that make driving easier because the harder it is to control a vehicle the safer it is. 2 – An end to law loopholes allowing for antique vehicles. As well as an end to private sales, inheritance, or donating cars to charities. All cars should have to be resold to car dealers or turned into law enforcement for disposal. Question: Does the 24 hour clock at the time of the actual theft or from the time of discovery of the theft?

    8. Bussie says:

      Regarding 1 a)
Who, and I repeat WHO makes the determination of the mental stability of the gun purchaser/owner?
Is it a psychologist/psychiatrist with an anti-gun or pro-gun mindset?
If they consider any gun owner as a gun nut, as many anti-gunners believe (As evidenced with posts on this blog).
Do we see the issues involved?
There needs to be some evidence based reasoning behind banning someone from ownership (i.e. – previous inappropriate activities with a firearm, or other violent actions with or without a weapon).
As is already existing Federal law concerning firearm ownership.
It is already illegal for a mental defective, drug or alcohol dependent, felon, domestic abuser to purchase or own or have possession a firearm.
An individual must be taken to a court of law and determined mentally defective to remove rights, as it should be.

    9. Pastor Richard H. says:

The liberal way lets make a RIGHT something the GOV, TAKES AWAY Then ISSUES You a PERMIT or a LICENCE for. But Gov. Reserves the Right now To TAKE that License AWAY as they deem Necessary, Via WE took your DAM RIGHT AWAY when We issued you a LISCENSE,
NOTHING you are asking will save a KIDS lives. We SHOULD UNITE for a Common CAUSE “KIDS LIVES.” Lets all organize business an groups, People ANYONE who can donate or help Forming a Working Model of a ADIQUITLY SECURE SCHOOL With all the tools an TECH. available To PROTECT Children’s LIVES. This could be done in days or weeks AND ALMOST EVERY AMERICAN Could Support an Stand By this Because IT WILL SAVE KIDS
NEXT WE as a PEOPLE Make it Perfectly Clear to Everyone SCHOOLS Are NO LONGER SOFT TARGETS or Shooting Gallery’s an Assassins will be meet With Deadly Force. Period.
Next We Remove The obstacle that MAKES it a SOFT TARGET, ” We REMOVE GUN FREE ZONE Posters.” Criminals Wont KNOW What they r WALKING into
Now These Steps will Help KIDS Mentally Will Help The Guards Because they KNOW what they PROTECT. an People n Groups would Donate Time n Money for this Effort.
Why Divide the COUNTRY when We can BRING it TOGETHER on this “”CHILD SAFETY ISSUE””. Not a gun issue
      Now I sit n Ponder.

  9. T'Keren Valmaz says:

I also want to comment about the picture of the young woman with the rifle painted in RW&B.

The practice of painting guns like that is very common by criminals to make them look like toys. Many criminals actually paint the tips of their pistols bright orange to mimic the safety cap seen on many toy guns.

But many also paint their guns bright colors like yellow and pink and even do things like glue the water tanks from water guns on top where scopes go to make the guns look unreal.

This is dangerously effective visual camo that likely has helped add to the issue of people being killed by cops while carrying toys or other objects. As police are having to be more wary of anything that could even remotely be a weapon.

Gun decorating should not be allowed. Guns should have to look like guns. when you start making the practice of cosmetic coloring a trend among young gun owners as NRA promotes on several of its shows it leads to a situation that can be dangerous for everyone.

    1. Joe says:

Or we could just lock up the criminals.

    2. John Owens says:

NRA promotes cosmetic coloring of guns among young gun owners on several shows… right.

      1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Research an NRA TV series called love at first shot aimed at women that highly encourages painting guns fun bright colors like pink with glittery names etc.

And considering the NRA regualrly calls others anti american terroist saying they have the right to sue others for calling them that is abit hypocritical.

        1. John Owens says:

I just want to know why you are watching an NRA series aimed at women. Oh, that’s right. Never mind. I have NOT heard the NRA call NON-TERRORISTS terrorists. Just what groups has the NRA called terrorists? You are making that up, and yes, they could sue but the person would be found mentally incompetent and therefore it wouldn’t be worth the suit.

          1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

typical flip flopping tactic from a hypocrite like you Owen. Demand references and then when you get them you then make personal attacks.

I genuinely pity every woman and child in your life subject to your bible thumping paranoid driven living delusions that you push onto them.

          2. John Owens says:

Jackass, YOU are the hypocrite who is flip-flopping. My comment was two parts. You answered the first, and at first it surprised me that you were watching it, but then I decided not to go into your effeminacy and continued with the second part, and you are hallucinating a lot about my bible thumping and whatever other stupid thing you are talking about.

    3. Carl Elfstrom says:

I guess I don’t associate with enough criminals to ever notice such things. Thanks for the inside scoop!

  10. Lea Weis says:

I grew up in Detroit and Its very hard and almost impossible to get a legal gun…The criminal has the guns…I live up north now were guns are easy to get…no crime..When the time comes and you need one….You will never go without a gun..I stand by the 2nd amendment..

Its nice to see the kids out and protesting without violence. But not to long ago we had riots and the police had to stand down…You don’t always need a gun..Just recent we had a bomber!!

Its not a perfect world and never will be.

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Funny I live in nevada and its a very pro gun state, and is riddle with crime. Biker gangs, meth cookers in trashy trailers, pimps and illegal hookers even in the areas with legal brothels because they have STDs and cant work at the legit cat houses.

Hell its so gun friendly that a few years back just a few streets from me a guy had his home broken into, he chased the thief out of his yard with a baseball bat, and as he closed on the punk in the street the punk turned and shot him down. It was ruled as legitimate self defense because they where not inside the now dead mans property, and since he was dead there was no one to press charges for breaking and entering.

So no just because an area is rural and pro gun doesnt suddenly end crime nor put the power in the hands of the non criminals.

      1. Karen Mohring says:

Just as an area being urban and “gun free” doesn’t make it safe. Violence and crime is not effected by gun ownership or lax gun laws.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Ah Karen but that is a common argument of 2nd cultist that if law abiding citizens are disarmed then only the wicked monster called a criminal has guns and will run amok.

      2. Lea Weis says:

Its sad to here what is going on in your state and its unfortunate what happened to your neighbor. But he stepped off his property ..He was not in danger for his life. I think you mistaken and you think I live in a rural area..I don’t.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Oh I dont care much about taht guy with the bat, as you are right he was a violent fool to want to cause physical harm to someone over mere objects being stolen.

and my pardon Lea I mistook part of your earlier statement as implying you had left the urban sprawl of the city behind.

You should understand that I feel those who are truly Christian are complete pacifist so when I see people on these boards start in with a praise god and pass the ammunition mentality it can fill my heart with great sorrow and frustration at the hypocrisy.

Now I am not christian but do admire the virtues extolled by the man called Jesus. Not the biblical mythical avatar/demigod mind you.

I subscribe to Karmic Field theory and feel very much that with death being inevitable its not about how we die but how we live. It is better to die never having killed then to kill in self defense and become that which you defended against.

I am however fine with maiming and inflicting grevious wounds that if they fail to cease and yield or flee to seek medical attention and die from that is on them as a form of suicide.

So if you really do have to shoot someone take a knee. Or hell just use bird shot and aim at the face, you are more likely to blind then kill and blind me are pretty harmless unless they are Dare Devil.

      3. Jim says:

I think you need to check your laws in your state. First the fact that he chased the punk is right on. He did not have to go after the criminal. The man had a baseball bat which made him the aggressor. Second the DA could in fact press the charges for the state. He does not have to have the decedent there to do so. Why the state did not press charges if that is true is a matter that should be looked into. One last footnote in most states you cannot take a life to defend property. Only if you feel your life is in danger.

  11. Freddy Guerra says:

AMEN thank God for the Second Amendment and pro gun owners

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Jesus weeps at such words and if he is indeed God you will never reach Heaven.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

That’s so dramatic. All anyone has to do is go through the light. Just ask Melinda Gordon. Besides that, Jesus never claimed to be God, and I wouldn’t doubt it.

        1. bob says:

Carl, Jesus DID claim to be God in John 10:30.

    2. John Owens says:

T’Keren speaks for Jesus, yet calls me a bible-thumper. Isn’t that nuts?

  12. Carrie says:

I can never and will never understand the crap that people say. These young people are NOT asking for gun bans, the are asking for COMMON SENSE safety. Background checks, banning certain types of guns, and making it harder for people who have mental problems to get one! Face it…the NRA is a terrorist organization! They are a criminal enterprise! I am not against gun ownership. Responsible safety was, and still should be, the guiding rule for any gun owner. Our children are our future! They have a right to have safe schools! Do you great defenders of gun ownership defend the killers who have ravaged our schools, our parks and our night clubs? If you are willing to defend them and wave the flag of “the right to bear arms” you are really no better than they are…and, by the way, what does this have to do with faith and spirituality?

    1. Joe says:

Blaming the gun has been going on since the Kennedy assanation. It’s time to start looking at the shooter who like Oswald display many red flags before the event.

      1. John Mathews says:

In this age of instant information, there is nothing wrong with what Carrie proposes. No one, and I mean no one, “needs” and automatic or assault style weapon for hunting or protection. They are only needed to overthrow our government and if that happens, God help us all.

If someone enters my house to do me or mine harm, give me a double barrel 12 gauge shot gun and I won’t miss. If a crazed person wants to kill someone, they will figure out a way to do it, guns or no. The carnage is less if the automatic/assault weapon is taken away.

    2. John Owens says:

These young people do not know what common sense is. Obviously, you do not either. You should not even use the phrase, because you are lying. You just called the NRA a terrorist organization and a criminal enterprise. If they didn’t know you are a moron, they could easily sue you for libel. You have no common sense. I hope you don’t drive.

      1. Carrie says:

Dear John…(Oh I so love dear John letters!) Before you start casting names, best look deeply into a mirror…..I am 64, served in the military, had friends and family that have fought, and died for this country…..I have owned many rifles, pistols and guns, and have shot many larger caliber than you can imagine! What have You done to be proud of? I was once a member of the NRA but quit soon after they started their terror attack adds during the Brady Law debates….They have taken money from the Russians and funneled it into the coffers of the most corrupt (Mentally, physically and financially) president in this nation’s history! He willingly calls nazi’s and white supremists the good guys!!! You are going to defend this?!? You are not a man of god if you feel this way! “If your God teaches you to hate, you are worshiping the wrong God!” In Love And Light, cordially yours, Carrie.

        1. Lea Weis says:

Well..The white Supremists are a Christian and all hate stems from religion.

          1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Even though I’m not a christian I can tell that white supremacists might think they’re Christians but they can’t possibly truly be Christians because Jesus was all about love, not hate. They are only fooling themselves. There is nothing bad about true Christianity. Although I am Wiccan, a natural, eclectic, solitary who was initiated on January 1,1980 after my year and a day of training, I have since included Jesus Christ in my pantheon of gods and goddesses, and sincerely believe that He was one of those highly advanced souls who after many incarnations attained the state of oneness with the creator, The All, who the Christians call God the Father, and we know as the Ultimate Unknowable Diety. Blessed Be! The Buddha was another man who attained that state, through an excelled complete awakening.

        2. Stephanie Willey says:

Carrie and John,is the NRA really a terrorist organization? The NRA most certainly is at the very least a pawn and tool of the firearm manufacturers and has in the last few decades abandoned it’s original goals of promoting safety in the various firearms sports. I too am a gun owner and collector, a gun smith, historian, and advocate of my right to own and use my guns. I also understand that there are people who should, for legitimate legal and medical reasons, NOT be allowed to have firearms. I have known some of these people. We have not yet focused in on or even identified the real issues that are behind the mass shootings.

        3. John Owens says:

Carrie, you are sitting there talking like you have inside info on the NRA and the Russians. You are obviously mentally deficient. You are outright LYING about Donald Trump, and then trying to insinuate that I am being hypocritical? You must have a degree in excrementology, because that is all that comes from you.

          1. Carrie says:

Oh, john, you are a smarmy little weasel! Your mental stability is the true question…you are not a person of faith…I dare not call you a man. You cower behind falsehoods, and use them like a club on those who disagree. I shall pray for you, as it seems you have no true faith. You call me full of it? You have NO idea what you are talking about…you spout to get a reaction…..You can go stick it in your own rectal hole! I will keep you in my prayers..obviously you need it!

          2. JOHN MAHER says:

CARRY on CARRIE, SMITE the JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS COWARD, DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP VILLAGE IDIOT that SPEWs VERBAL DIARRHEA SAME as HIS DADDY !!!

          3. JOHN MAHER says:

PLEASE CARRIE DO NOT PRAY for this F..KT..D for HE KNOWS NOT WHAT HE SAYs, POOR SOUL JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS, READ HIS POSTs HE is ALL OVER the MAP LIKE DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP, HIS DADDY !!!

          4. John Owens says:

I’m not smarmy or a weasel. I’m a warm-hearted, jolly grandfather who gets joy out of helping others. I’m not unstable or overly aggressive. You invent those things because I point out to you the fallacies in your speech. It does not bother me that you “dare not call me a man,” since you are mentally off and most likely do not know the definition of one. Then you insulted my faith, and tell me to put something in my rectum, then say you will pray for me. And you think I am unstable? If I were, which I am not, I would at least be consistent, which you are not. You are all over the place, which proves my statement that you don’t have any common sense. And you call names, so please don’t criticize ME for doing it. You are probably a cat-lady, but I’d have no way of knowing. If you aren’t, you missed a good chance to be something.

        4. Jim says:

Carrie if you are referring to Trump calling Nazis and white supremacists the good guys when did this happen cause I missed it. I to am a former NRA member, that said I do not think they are a terrorist organization I just disagree with some of the political views hence I’m not an AARP member either. But I will say this. Last I checked Trump has not been prosecuted for any crimes that I know of and therefore cannot be considered corrupt. Mentally he has made billions so I think he does ok mentally and financially. I don’t think he is in the pockets of the NRA he could buy it if he wanted to. So I would hold off judging folks as you did with John. He could very well be a man of god with a different opinion than you and John should not have called you a moron. We can only grow when we exchange opinions if we listen and learn. and before you shoot back with what have I done to be proud of I’m retired military. Worked for the Olympic committee in 1996, sent my daughters to the Dominican Republic to help build a school and helped my daughter raise money to build a school in Loas which is dedicated to my family. So I have done a little.

          1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Jim jim jim jimjeree me thinks you are not well read on reality. When one settles like in the Trump U case that is in effect admitting guilt you see. He has not made billions that is well understood, He is as wasteful in his wealth as he is with his brood.

The Trump family fortune is managed by a banking trust and he is obligated by it to abide by certain rules, they control the true wealth of the trump family because trumps grand daddy knew he had spawn a line of fools.

He has beaten his wives and likes to molest women. When men stand by him like you it makes them all complicit in his sin.

          2. Jim says:

T’Keren I thought you were not a Christian and did not believe in sin. In any event Trump made his money on his own with a 1million dollar loan from his father and the money is now in a trust as he is president and cannot do any dealings in his business. Me thinks it is you my friend who needs a reality check. I worked for insurance companies for a lot of years and I can tell you that just because someone settles a case does not mean they are guilty. There are numbers crunchers who examine the case and decide if it is better to settle than to spend more money to fight. I suppose you also think that everyone that ever toke a plea bargain was also guilty. There are plenty of people who accept the plea bargain rather than face a possible jail sentence.

        5. Carl Elfstrom says:

Another good magazine is Soldier Of Fortune. And do y’all get those BudK catalogs in the mail, like I do? They sure have a lot of fun weapons and stuff in them.

      2. JOHN MAHER says:

YEAH JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS and WHAT WILL the YOUNG DO when they reach YOUR AGE and THEIR HEADS are as FULL of SHYTE as YOURN, VILLAGE IDIOT, SON of DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP

        1. JD says:

John Maher, first off you should go back to 1st grade and take a writing class. Mexico has laws that prohibit citizens from possessing any kind of gun. However the cartel has better weapons then to police do. Evil people will always do EVIL.

    3. Lea Weis says:

The NRA is not a terrorists group at all. And no one is against what the protests are doing!

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

The NRA has some very good magazines.

  13. Freddy Guerra says:

So what you sayin is all NRA members and the NRA is terrorist so what you saying is you put all NRA members in one basket so should we put all whites in one basket as being racist all all blacks in one basket of being murderers robbers Latinos all in one basket of being drug sellers smugglaz know you’re blaming a whole bunch of individuals for what some idiots are doing nobody’s saying that the kids are wrong for standing up what they believe in they believe in their standing up just as pro-gun kids are standing up for what they believe in you can’t sit here and say the NRA is terrorist because the NRA in the beginning was actually supplying weapons for freed black slaves and Republicans that Democrats was killing in the field by the hundreds

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

I’m a basically white man who has mostly republican political beliefs (but sometimes votes for democrats), am not a christian. am not at all prejudiced, and am attracted to beauty in both genders. I’m also left handed and an Aquarius. Half of my ancestors came from Cicily, and the other half originated in Sweden, England, Wales,Spain, and France. All in all that makes me an all American mutt. You haters ought to be able to find something in that to hate me for. If not, y’all weren’t paying close close enough attention, and need to go back and read this personal description again. And I mean right now, son! And by the way, I can’t see anything wrong with the NRA or Bill Clinton. He just needs to get a divorce. I think Hillary’s been sleeping with Donald Trump. Try to imagine that.

  14. JOHN MAHER says:

HOW ABOUT BANNING IGNORANCE and GETTING EVERYONE a GREAT EDUCATION in EVERY FIELD in EVERY SCHOOL, NO AMENDMENTS NEEDED for that JUST a GOOD GOVERNMENT, WHICH I BELIEVE is COMING in the NEXT E L E C T I O N S !!!

    1. Lea Weis says:

      It already happened.

    2. John Owens says:

If ignorance is banned, Maher, to where shall you go?

      1. JOHN MAHER says:

I WOULD BE KNOCKING on YOUR HEAD / DOOR for SURE JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS, SPEAKER of DEAD OPINIONS……..

        1. John Owens says:

LOL! That was funny and you know it.

          1. JOHN MAHER says:

YOUR a SWARMY WEASEL JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS and I THOUGHT that HILARIOUS !!!

  15. Clifford says:

It’s a false safety anymore anyways. What good would a few AR-15s be against the weapons other countries possess now?

Besides chemical and nuclear weapons there are a number of sonic and capacitance discharge weapons to name a few.

If they wanted to herd the sheep. They’ve got more than enough power to do so.

    Guns kill people.

At the least they do need more control over who gets them IMO.

Though the criminals would still get them on the black market.

    1. John Owens says:

If the left was not afraid of citizens with weapons, they would not be trying to have them taken. Hitler did it. Mao did it. Castro did it. Chavez did it. Mexico did it. The weapons will not be surrendered.

      1. Jim says:

Amen John not be me. We will have a fight on our hands if it comes to it.

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

Trust me, the good people of this country have a lot more than AR15s. We are well fortified. We’re just not talking about it.

  16. Wesley W Brown says:

ALOT IS GETTINGTHE AR 15 AND WAS NEVER USE IN THE MILITARY M16VIS THE WEPON USE .AND AR DOSENT MEAN ASSULT RIFLE THE AR 15 STANDS FOR ARMALILE RIFLE HOW COME WEDONT GO AFTER CAR DEALSHIP THAT KILLS SOMEONE AND BUDWISER . I HAVE GUNS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE KILLS SOMEBOODY WITH A HAMMER OR ROCK SHOULD WE BAN ROCKS AND HAMMER

  17. John Owens says:

I promise the drug cartels, human traffickers, and gun runners will get guns to the criminals in YOUR neighborhood, and it takes longer to dial 911 than to shoot a home invader.

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Spoken like an unchristian fool that sees big bad monsters not people.

      1. John Owens says:

You ARE a name-calling hypocritical shizophrenic bi-polar lunatic, aren’t you?

    2. JOHN MAHER says:

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, EVER SHOT a HOME INVADER JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS, TALK is CHEAP RIGHT Kmart JOHNNY ???

      1. John Owens says:

As a matter of fact, Mr. Maher, I have never shot anyone, period. I also have never had anything stolen from my property. We do lock our doors, but in our small neighborhood, we all watch out for each other.

        1. JOHN MAHER says:

IF ONE POSSESSES a GUN of ANY CALIBRE or SIZE be SURE YOU KNOW HOW and WILL BE ABLE to USE SAME when CALLED UPON, MINUS ALL the MACHO BULLSHIT….

          1. John Owens says:

All the macho bullshit talk comes from the people who don’t use them, Mr. Maher. For those of us who grew up with them, they are part of everyday life. I always have a knife, a multitool, and a handgun on my person (unless I enter a courthouse, school, or airport). There is nothing macho about it. I expect the women to do the same.

  18. Wesley W Brown says:

ALOT PEOPLE HERE ARE GEETING THE AR 15 WRONG THE AR DONT MEAN ASSULT RIFLE IT MEANS ARMLITE RIFLE. AND SOME SAYS IT USE IN THE MILITARY THE AR 15 NOT USE IN THE MILITARY THE M16 WAS AND THE 15 ARMLITE RIFLE IS THE BARREL MEANS IT 15 INCHES LONG .A HAMMER AND ROCK AND BUDWISER CAN KILL SOMEONE SHOULD WE BAN ROCKS AND HAMMERS AND BUDWISER SO WHERE IS GOING TO STOP .I HAVE GUNS ITS MY WRIGHT I DONT HAVE A AIRLITE RIFLE DPNT LIKE THEM

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

WESLEY W BROWN PLEASE LEARN to READ, WRITE and SPELL so as to EXPRESS YOURSELF as WELL as JOHN BOOGER BUTTERFLY OWINS ANOTHER G E D ALUMNI and YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GUNS !!!

      1. Jim says:

At least he has a GED John. Let me ask you a question did you make it to High School?

  19. John Koenig says:

Guns are a SYMPTOM of the problem; they are NOT themselves the problem. If guns were to magically disappear, the underlying problem would STILL be there and, STILL need to be addressed. Today’s “feel good” youth (and non-thinking adults) are looking for an EASY way out of a difficult, LONG building problem. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, for FAR too many people, has been on the decline for DECADES. Until this is reversed, our problems WILL continue. Long term safety CANNOT be “bought” by giving up Constitutional liberties and freedoms.

    1. Stephanie Willey says:

      I agree

      1. willie34 says:

Denmark to vie with Switzerland and Iceland to be the world’s happiest country.
And it is not the USA that is a happy gun toting country. At this point it is probably 30th on the list of happy countries. To have to carry a gun to make you feel safe is happy?. That sounds to me pretty miserable, translated it means pretty wretched!!!The USA must have sunk pretty low looking at the overall picture. 😨😨😩😂😂🙏🌟

        1. JOHN MAHER says:

GO GET EM’ WILLIE 34, GREAT POST for the FEAR MONGERS, 90% of the SCHMUCKs that HAVE these MILITARY ASSAULT GUNS WOULD FILL their UNDERWEAR with EXCREMENT in a FIREFIGHT, BAAH, BAAH, BAAH……………………..

        2. Carl Elfstrom says:

I’m sure by far most Americans don’t carry guns. If we did there could never be a mass shooting. Can you imagine a nut shooting up a place full of gun toting Americans. It could never possibly happen. Most people undoubtedly keep their guns at home and maybe in their cars, and only take them out to go hunting, or for target practice. Only a very small percentage of the population are violent criminals and murderers, so if everyone carried a firearm all the time there would be very little violent crime.

        3. Carl Elfstrom says:

Danish people make the best butter cookies. Maybe that’s why they’re so happy. Now I’m hungry for cookies. I think I’ll make some. Im sure they’ll make me happy too, until I measure my waist.

        4. Pastor Richard H. says:

Those country’s u mention are happy they don’t have immoral National hating liberals putting their country down all they time trying to destroy their homeland.an those country’s have people who are mostly the same in them, who think live, act, an worship so I’d say they feel comfortable and Safe with their neighbors

  20. Stephanie Willey says:

The mere mention today of the words “mental health” carries such a negative social stigma so as to be a taboo subject, and it is wrong and stupid. Some religions even forbid the seeking of mental healthcare. EVERY person on this planet would and should benefit positively from psychoanalysis (I have and it was the smartest thing I ever did for myself), but only the very few fortunate (read wealthy) EVER get it. Our national healthcare system is a joke, literally to the rest of the world. Americans attitudes and fear of the stigma of mental health is stupid and based in ignorance. Every recent mass shooter except the Las Vegas shooter gave multiple ques about their mental and emotional status before their acts but NONE of them were under the care of a mental healthcare provider, and even if they had been, our antiquated laws and attitudes about mental healthcare would have prevented the healthcare providers from advising anyone in any kind of authority.
I am a gun owner and collector and have accumulated years of study, training, and practice in the proper use and care of my firearms. The fact that anyone, without any training can buy a firearm is just stupid.
I was a professional driver and diagnostic test driver for over 40 years and I know that obtaining a drivers license is way too easy and requires no real skill of knowledge, and that is just stupid. There are too many people on our roads who should NOT be in the drivers seat.
I was a private pilot and it took several years AND an serious physical AND mental examination and certification before I could even apply for my license. THIS makes perfect sense to me and ought to be the same for gun ownership, ESPECIALLY for all who carry firearms, concealed or not.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Nobody wants to think of themselves as crazy. That’s why we don’t want to hear anyone talking about it. We’re scared it will make us think about it, which could lead us to seeing our own eccentricities.

      1. Stephanie Willey says:

And that’s the whole point. Crazy is the antithesis of mental and emotional HEALTH. I and millions of others are today mentally and emotionally HEALTHY today because we abandoned the taboo and fears of it all, and found the HEALTHY help we all need. America is confounded by fears, taboo’s, and ignorance, most benign but too much willful, of the real issues and roots of our problems and therefore unable to find real meaningful and workable solutions.

    2. Bussie says:

Who, and I repeat WHO makes the determination of the mental stability of the gun purchaser/owner?
Is it a psychologist/psychiatrist with an anti-gun or pro-gun mindset?
If they consider any gun owner as a gun nut. As many anti-gunners believe (As evidenced with posts on this blog).
Do we see the issues involved?
There needs to be some evidence based reasoning behind banning someone from ownership (i.e. – previous inappropriate activities with a firearm, or other violent actions with any weapon)

    3. Bussie says:

Which is why that is still the case in every state I can think of. Needs to be taken to a court of law and proven the individual is incompetent.

  21. Freddy Guerra says:

    Amen amen

  22. bob says:

‘March for Our Lives’ . . . . . FAR more importantly was the ‘March for Our Lives’ Jesus made up Golgotha Hill. Where, after being betrayed, beaten, tortured, illegally convicted, He was then crucified. This sinless Jesus died for us sinful people to meet the demands of a righteous and just God. We all need to ‘march for our lives’ -our eternal lives- straight to the feet of the risen Jesus for forgiveness.

    1. Ricardo Montalban-all-guns says:

The only difference between the recent March For Our Lives and the biblical one is that the recent one actually happened!

  23. Carl Elfstrom says:

To many people worry about where they’re going after they die. All we ever have is right now. Cross that bridge when you come to it, and live a good life without causing harm until then.

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

YOUR on A ROLL CARL ELFSTROM, ROLL ONE FER ME !!!

  24. John Owens says:

“This is nothing new – young people have been schooled in the ways of gun culture for generations here in America. But some argue this obsession over guns is precisely what led us down the path towards high rates of gun violence and horrific mass shootings.”

I will focus on the second sentence here. This is where the problem is. Point 1: There is no “OBSESSION OVER GUNS” except among those who are so adamant that we should not have them. The conservatives are not obsessed over them, because they don’t OBSESS. Point 2: The guns did not LEAD us anywhere, because they are inanimate objects and cannot DO anything, and since the OBSESSION does not exist, IT did not lead us anywhere.

What HAS led us “down the path towards high rates of gun violence and horrific mass shootings” are liberal policies being lived out for the last 40 years. By encouraging infidelity, promiscuity, unemployment, entitlement and single parenting, we have managed to produce millions of unstable, unproductive, immature, fragile, undisciplined citizens whose mental state is always just on the verge of a breakdown. THAT is why we have high rates of violence and mass shooting. NOT because they can get their hands on a weapon.

These mass shooters, indeed, very few violent criminals, come from two-parent traditional conservative households. Most of them come from some kind of arrangement other than that, and are the products of liberalism run amok.

“From a moral perspective, would America be better off encouraging its children to be gun owners, or pushing them to renounce gun culture?” AGAIN, there is no such thing as “gun culture”. Trying to couch a discussion in terms like that shows who is obsessed and who is not.

  25. Jim says:

I could not agree more with you John. Look at the 50s. People had respect for one another, families were together. Then you hit the 60’s the drug culture came in, families separated “free love” was everywhere. Things got worse in the 70’s then you start with the video games and no holes barred violence. I remember when the most violent TV show was bonanza or Gun Smoke. They never showed blood on TV back then. You could not say any profanity on the shows. Then people started burning the flag, TV shows started calling women bitches “as well as songs written in the 80’s and 90’s. The liberal agenda kept pushing and the right let them so its both parties at fault. Now kids see blood and gore everywhere. and we wonder why these kids have problems with whats on TV and cable, Broken homes and other issues, hell I’m surprised we don’t have more kids going off the deep end.

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

YEAH RIGHT JIM, LEAVE it to BEAVER CLEAVER, NOBODY BURNED the FLAG, the ONLY BURNED CROSSES and OH YEAH REMEMBER ALL those BLACK A/O PEOPLE of COLOR, WAKE UP or KEEP WATHING the BEAVER CLEAVER RE-RUNS, WHERE YOU in VIET NAM ???

      1. Jim says:

        Were you? I’m retired USAF

    2. Rev. Laurel says:

John Owens/Jim: You guys are ‘in the know’ as far a life goes. This article comes from ULC and when I got involved the training was to respect others beliefs….creator gave us free will. It has come to me that the present situation here in the United States of America started since the end of WWII (the war to end all wars) where veterans returned wanting it easier on the next general than they had–and the extremes are now coming into realization. As with breeding animals for different traits, it takes several generation for wanted or unwanted to come into dominance. Several traits seen now are ‘entitlement mentality’, no morals–do what makes ME feel good, let me live in the basement and play games as an a nonperson, and still some ambitious take care of myself and my family….know this is not a comprehensive or complete list, but know thinkers will get it.
My back round–Ruralist (live in rural area). Guns a way of life. Off spring of hunters/law enforcement/veterans. Brought up in church. Five children who are very successful in life–all still married with children and scattered across the country. Two with criminal justice degrees, one a veteran USAF/now in DC with Border Patrol, one exec with large corporation–all are gun owners/shooters…..I am a college graduate.

I would also take liason to express the dislike of the rudeness of some on the comments….and the caps–yelling only shows ignorance and at least use the spell check as this might make comments readable. IF you are here because you are involved in ULC–blessings for good–IF not get off the board and find something good for use of your energy. Namaste!

      1. Jim says:

Thank you Rev. Laurel. I have only been on these blogs about a month now and if you read the posts you can understand why congress cant get anything done. Both sides have drank the cool aide. If you really want to understand the real united states read some history books like Peoples History of the US from 1492. Want to see why we have the arguments about Guns look at some of the cities with the highest crime rates but toughest gun laws on the books and see who has run the city and the states for the past 60, 80 or 100 years. Want to look at almost any issue look at the area that has that ideology and see who runs things. Stop watching Fox, and CNN and MSNBC and believing everything they say. All of them are spun to the way they want you to think. Sad but most people believe the news outlets just like the internet. I had an argument with my 26 year old niece a few months ago about a video she watched on the internet about batteries and I told her she was wrong but she would not believe it until I actually proved it to her. Cost me a good $8 battery but it was worth it to prove the point. A good book on economics is “How an economy Grows and why it crashes” written by Peter and Andrew Schiff. It breaks it down for even Johnboy could undrerstand it. People try and look at others opinions and at least listen without judging or name calling. Once the insults start flowing there is no communication.

        1. Rev. Laurel says:

As a 14 year rural letter carrier veteran–the entertainment was to listen to the different news reports and compare what was said and then pull out the repeated ‘facts’ and conclude that these were the truth…..still do when riding around, but at least there is more alternative news available. Discernment is a gift that has to be practiced as is patience…..the instant life people want is not reality. As you are a reader, you know that history and the weather are cyclic and if studied you know where they are going to go. Those who profess to read the bible should know there has never been peace. Just look who called the meeting to choose what went into the bible…Pagan Roman leader seeing the power-over growing in the Christianity movement and wanted a piece of it. Religion is manmade/spirituality is God given……..

    3. Pastor Richard H. says:

It had a lot to do with democrats opening up the borders from strict immigration to all country’s just come on in, It has to do with forced diversity upon society it is meant to disrupt community’s an form victim groups. This is all by Liberal design to wreak havoc on our Country. Lets face it when kids get old enough to realize that Everyone is NOT a Winner “some cant handle that shot of reality an go were they learned this lie An Give Payback in their twisted liberal way”

  26. willie34 says:

    On and on!

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

FREE WILLIE 34, YOU GOT that 100% RIGHT, DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP has ALREADY F….D his BASE they are JUST TOO IGNORANT to REALIZE it and PROBABLY NEVER WILL, BAAH, BAAH, BAAH………..

      1. Jim says:

You guys just can’t handle the fact that you lost. There is nothing racist, fascist, ignorant, stupid or greedy about that. You lost get use to it.

        1. JOHN MAHER says:

HEY JIM, JIMBO BIMBO, it AIN’T OVER TIL’ its OVER, GET USED to THAT, SWARMY WEASEL……………

          1. Jim says:

I have come to the conclusion John Maherhead that you are either constantly high or you just cant handle the truth. You have been so brainwashed at this point there is no hope for you, You have went so far left that reason and conversation are above your head and you just cant understand any other point of view or even be respectful for that point of view therefore all I can say is I will pray to my god that you see the light one day for there is always hope.

          2. JOHN MAHER says:

I JIMBO the BIMBO am HIGH on the INTELLIGENCE of LIFE LEARNED, NOT the STUPID RANTING LIES of A PIMP PERVERT, CHILD MOLESTER, INCEST FORNICATOR as YOU and SWARMY WEASEL II J B B OWINS, GO and BOW BEFORE YOUR LORD DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP, YOU VILLAGE IDIOTS are LOW BORN NOTHINGS, LOOK for DELIVERANCE BOY !!!

  27. Jim says:

As I said Johnboy you don’t know me so you have to call me a bunch of names to make yourself feel better. That’s ok I forgive you for you know not what you do. If your life has taught you to this point as you say your intelligence level than I fear you have lived one sheltered life because you have not learned a thing. At any rate your just not worth the time of day. But I will keep praying for ya.

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

JIMBO the BIMBO JIM, PLEASE DO NOT PRAY for ME and YOU K N O W what U can DO WITH YOUR FORGIVENESS, SHOVE IT, BUTT SAVE SOME for the OTHER VILLAGE IDIOTS, BAAH, BAAH, BAAH, say HELLO to YOUR DADDY DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP………

  28. Jim says:

No Johnboy I will pray for you because if there was ever a person who needed someone to pray for them its you. You so far gone that there is little hope for you. You seem to like to call people names who disagree with your points of view. This tells me you a very insecure person. You feel the need to try and belittle others to have self worth. It’s ok John God loves you even if you are a little slow. God Bless Johnboy and I hope everyone who reads this says a prayer to their god for you.

  29. Rarity Tachibana says:

Why the hell are you arguing stupidity the reason we are like this as a human race is simple we desensitized and demoralized and instead of finding a solution we sit here and talk out of our fear ends and think we have a point when we are part of the problem I’m just now starting to see a change in the race problem and now we get a gun problem ,if we keep this crap up it will never change we need real men and women to step forward we have real issues, and need people to solve them it’s not god’s job to fix everything we screw up as a human race have you ever noticed we only call on God when we want something that would get trying after centuries doncha think I think it starts in a community where people learn they have a choice to make ,ne part of the solution or be part of the problem their is no middle ground. Jesus said I’m here to to my father’s ordinance not to take anything away.god have us his law weather we fallow it or not is up to us!

    1. Jim says:

I agree the issue is actually getting people to listen and look at other points of view.

  30. R. Hill says:

The 2nd. protects the 1st. Now that the 1st. is all but gone for anyone but the left, I guess the 2nd. will have to protect the 2nd. Good luck trying to steal guns from gun owners. God made us free and the 2nd. amendment keeps us that way.

  31. William Millhouse says:

I have no problem with people owing guns. I do believe, however, that there need to be regulations as to who can own what. Certain weapons were made for full combat conditions and have no place in the average home as they are not necessary. There should be proper waiting times and preliminary requirements. Licensing and insurance should be part of the owner’s responsibility.

  32. Minister Dorothy says:

Then one must ask: is it a God given right to massacre children?!

  33. Mark says:

This article was better than most news articles. It actually talked about both sides sensibly. Thank you.

  34. Fred says:

Really time to rethink this whole 2nd amendment understanding!

  35. Reverand Steve says:

I’m kind of wondering why John Maher is even allowed in this forum. All he does is spew insults and show his ignorance.

    1. Jim says:

Like I requested Reverand Steve pray for him he needs some help.

      1. JOHN MAHER says:

JIMBO the BIMBO and REVERAND STEVE, ALL U BOTH can do is PRAY YOU WERE HALF as INTELLIGENT as I, DUMP the DOTAR ORANGUtRUMP

        1. Jim says:

As stated in a previous post Johnboy. I cannot have a battle of wits with an Unarmed person. Your mental capacity is that of about a 2 year old. I have decided to just ignore you as what you post typically makes no sense and your name calling and rude comments are just not worth my efforts hence you are not worth my efforts. Have a great life Johnboy and I will keep praying for ya.

  36. Minister James Owen says:

I have listened to a lot of people on both sides of the debate on guns. The truth is a gun is like any other tool. a gun does not kill unless someone pulls the trigger. I own guns and am a Law enforcement Officer. I am a Firearms Instructor for the Dept I work for. Gun violence is on the rise because people who own guns do not keep them in a safe away from their kids or people that come to their home or from criminals that break into their homes. Kids are not raised with God in their lives or respect for others or morals. They are raised by game consoles that teach them how to kill and glorify the killing of others. People need to turn to God and Pray every day for one another. To many kids are on medications for adhd, bi-polar and anxiety problems. All this is from lack of discipline and not raising your kids the way you were raised. When i was in school we brought knives to trade with each other and 50% of us had guns in the back window of our trucks. No one ever bothered them or killed anyone. We all knew there was a price to pay for doing wrong and we had a conscience. Who has been killing the kids at schools? Other kids are the one’s and they have access to weapons from home. Lets make the owners of the weapon’s used in violence accountable as well. I am so Heart broken for the family”s that have lost loved one’s to any violence. It is a fact that someone that has it in their minds to do something will do it. The way the world is now we need to be armed. We have Russia mad at us,North Korea wants to sit down and talk peace, yeah right that is just a way to get close to us and then China is in close with North Korea. Does anyone know why we have not been attacked since Japan bombed Pearl Harbor? Its because all the other Countries know that there a lot of guns owned by citizen’s not just the military. When you have a teen that is showing strange behavior acting out you need to let someone know. I think also medical records should be used when buying a weapon as part of a background check. People that have been in a mental institution or is on any type of medication that will alter your mental state should be on a background check. Last of all people turn to God and Pray, raise your children and take away the baby sitting game console. Get into a good church and take the kids. I Pray each day for our Kids and Country. God Bless you all and please when you are leaving a comment leave the dirty words out, we will get the meaning of your comment without the bad words.

  37. Bill Fox says:

Rights, despite what the Declaration of Independence states, are not God given. In Scripture, rights are not discussed. Conduct and submission to authority is discussed. In Eastern Religions such as Buddhism and Taoism, the concept of rights are scoffed at.

  38. anonymous4u4me says:

All natural rights are God almighty given, the constitution and the bill of rights, agree with that, and further back up mans natural God given rights. Now all governments try to take away these rights for control or an agenda, some take more then others. Those that take the most usually end up being tyrants and killing, torturing, and imprisioning people without due process for life. Now man and governments do create rights, but they are not natural like God’s rights, and usually end up destroying, society and morals, and helping Satan and his minions with his agenda. Examples of these are homsexuality marriage, forceing others to go against their religious beliefs to perform acts like help homosexuals in marriage, like bakeries being forced to create cakes and sell to them, flower shops, etc. The odds of man creating any good rights are slim and none, as they fit an agenda or evil, and destroy souls and character in the long run. Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, God given rights to assemble, speak, worship, demonstrate and press, all natural and God given, The right for a man to defend himself and his family, as he deems necessary God given, the right for some men to depend on others for this, God given, most rights that men give up, are given up by the weak, or lazy, and by using their God given free will in a negative way. The further man gets from God, and the more he thinks he can rule himself the worse society becomes. Soon you end up being like Sodom and Gomorrah, one need only look around the nation, and the entire world to see it happening before their eyes, but most being blind will not see any problems and demand or ask for more evil, and loss of rights. They are even marching today and begging the govt. to take away rights, not protect them but take them away, now that is the sign of a fool and foolishness, how can the Govt. or people think they are better then God and demand his natural God given rights be destroyed? But hey what you see today will be considered childs play tomorrow so enjoy the ride, and keep thinking man and Governments are the solution and see how it ends up.

  39. Keoni Ronald May says:

It is the person (criminal or mentally ill) and not the choice of weapon (firearms, edged weapons, blunt force weapons, explosives, etc…) who is responsible (not that is responsible).

In America, when the colonies rebelled, Great Britain sent armed troops, to straighten out the colonists. The 2nd Amendment was created, to give its citizenry, the right to rebel against a highly oppressive government.

Historically, there are many countries who gave up their equivalent of the USA 2nd Amendment, and the highly oppressive governments, killed them in large numbers (Armenians versus Turks, Jews versus Germany, Hutu versus Tootsies, Chinese versus Japanese, etc…).

If the weapon is the sole problem, then put the weapon on trial, along with the criminal. Treat the weapon as a criminal and see where that will get everyone. Give the choice of weapon, constitutional rights.

  40. Christian says:

yes. self defense is a God Given right of every creature. Even PLANTS ! Many plants make toxins so you will not eat them. Very clever.

If people would discuss LOVING ALL PEOPLE with the passion of self defense rights, the world would be happier.

Every citizen disarming agenda has been followed by unlimited genocide,
so allowing only criminals and despots to have weapons always ends badly for Everyone.

Let’s have more LOVE and much less fear.

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

THERE is NOTHING at ALL WRONG with the 2nd AMENDMENT it is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT and SHOULD NEVER BE CHANGED or BANNED !!!
WHAT MUST BE CONTROLLED is that WE DO NOT WIND UP WITH TANKS, BAZOOKAS, LAND MINES or FLAME THROWERS in OUR HOMES, NOTHING WRONG with GUNS it is the MIND of the PERSON WHOS HAND the GUNS are IN @ that MOMENT……..

      1. Pastor Richard H. says:

In My state we are still allowed to have a Cannon HOW Awesome is THAT ..?

  41. John Trefethen says:

Why do the kids of today think they’re smart enough to tell the rest of the world what to do and how to do it??????????? All the kids your showing on the air are doing nothing more than mouthing what their teachers or parents are saying yet you give them so much air time.. You know I am right because they are using words that their age group does not use and doesn’t give a darn about. Most of the go around with head phones or ear buds in their ears and couldn’t hear a fire truck if it was running over them. They don’t even know what news programming is on the average day because they don’t watch the same news media who is helping them push their (the kids) agenda. They are following each other like sheep as most kids always do we have to hope they don’t get to close to a cliff or water, for surely they will go over the edge or drawn. They are involved because it gets them a moment of fame being in front of the cameras and mouthing what someone else has told them to say or do. It gives them time out of school, sometimes a trip and they get to mouth off to all like they do their own parents.

FIRST WE ALL KNOW THE KIDS CAN DO NOTHING WRONG THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING—– ANYTHING AT ALL YET THEY WANT TO TELL US HOW TO LIVE OUR LIVES. ARE THEY PAYING TAXES OR ARE THEY SO SPOILED BEING PANPERED BY THEIR PARENTS THEY HAVEN’T A CLUE OF REALLITY YET THEY WANT TO TELL US HOW TO LIVE OUR LIVES. THEY WANT US TO PAY MORE TAXES BUT IF THEY COULDN’T PLAY THEIR GAMES OR HAVE THEY’RE CELL PHONES, COMPUTORS, THEN WHAT WOULD THEY SAY???? WOULD THEY GIVE ALL THAT UP TO PAY TEACHERS MORE MONEY???

IT ISN’T GROWN UPS KILLING KIDS IT’S KIDS STEALING GUNS FROM THEIR PARENTS WHO FOR THE MOST PART DOES NOT LOCK UP THEIR GUNS, OR GETTING GUNS FROM FRIENDS OR BUYING THEM AND THEY ARE SHOOTING EACH OTHER IT’S NOT THE ADULTS KILLING KIDS…….IT IS (KIDS KILLING KIDS)………..

ARE THESE KIDS WHO ARE DOING THE SHOOTING PICKED ON BY THEIR FELLOW STUDENTS AND THEY’RE GETTING EVEN OR IS IT REALLY AS RANDOM AS THE SCHOOLS AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WANT US TO THINK. WHY DIDN’T THE PARENTS PAY ATTENTION AND KNOW THERE KID WAS HAVING A PROBLEM. AFTER ALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS ARE NOT DOING WHAT THEY CAN AND NEITHER ARE THE SCHOOLS OR SCHOOL BOARDS, TO END KIDS PICKING ON EACH OTHER AND BULLYING EACH OTHER. WE ALL KNOW OF CASES AND FRIENDS OF OURS WHO KIDS ARE NOT ONE OF THE ELITE AND WHO THEN FIGHT BACK. OUR SCHOOLS ARE FULL OF CLICKS AND WE ALL KNOW IT BECAUSE IT WAS HAPPENING WHEN WE WERE THERE AND THINGS HAVEN’T CHANGED ONE BIT. I AM ONE WHO ASK THE KIDS HAVE YOU BEEN PICKED ON?? OR YOU ONE OF THE POPULAR/ELITE, OF THE SCHOOL?? ARE YOU IN ONE OF THE CLICKS???? I DO NOT REALLY HAVE TO BECAUSE YOU CAN LOOK AT THEM AND TELL THEY’RE IN TROUBLE. IF YOU OR WE PAY ATTENTION WE CAN TELL WHO IS HAVING PROBLEMS AND WHO ARE GETTING ALONG. HOW MANY TIMES WHEN AS AN ADULT HAVE YOU’VE GONE TIMES HAVE WE GONE TO SCHOOL GRADUATION AND ONLY A HAND FULL OF THE KIDS GET THE SCHOLARSHIPS AND HOW MANY OF THOSE GET SEVERAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS AT THE SAME TIME THAT THEY WILL NEVER USE INSTEAD OF THE EDUCATION COMMUNITY DO WHAT THEY CAN TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO GO TO COLLAGE GETS TO GO.

I have several issues with the news media giving them so much air time and the media causing problems they do not want to take credit for helping to cause.

Like it or not there is supposed to be an separation between church and state. For us to talk about it is fine but in my opinion we should not be pushing this agenda..

  42. JOHN MAHER says:

HOW OLD ARE YOU JOHN TREFETHEN and WHEN was the LAST TIME YOU ATTENDED COLLEGE or SCHOOL ???

  43. Revd Des says:

    I love all you Americans.
    Now learn to love yourself,
    xxx

    1. JOHN MAHER says:

HEY REVD DES, YOU ONLY LOVE AMERICANS ??? THERES a BIG WORLD out THERE…………………. LITTLE MORE on the LOVING !!!

  44. secretary3rd says:

Gun violence is not the same thing as gun control. These student live in fear that one of their fellow students will one day come to school and kill a large number of them. If a student is bent on killing fellow students it does not have to be will a brought weapon. If killing is on their mind they can just as easy do it with one of the weapons that can be found on the Internet. The ones that ISIL has shown people how to make.
We live in an era that people who want to kill have no problem doing it either a couple at a time or dozens.
Just look what street drugs are doing, not dozens die, but thousands have die over the decades.
Firearms are a good source of doing damage if one can get them if not one will turn to another means. From chemical, to biological, even to nuclear if one wants to do damage.

Going back to Parkland if they truly want to get rid of guns from private hands they should first tried the Cubans in Florida to turn in theirs.

Valentine Day 1929 Chicago has made that Day live forever in the minds of Chicago history.
Mr. Cruz has now added to that Day with 17 dead bodies.

  45. secretary3rd says:

In Cook County, Illinois the Cook County Crime Commission has stated that there are 50,000 gang members most would say that they do have weapons of some sorts. If the lights go off what is to stop those members from looting the County.
Some one told me that they will pass a law against me having an AK-47. It will be banned and it could mean jail time if I did not turn it in.
I told him that if it ever came to that I will used my military training against those who have passed such law.
Example. During WW2 in Europe the NAZI were targets they might have spread fear but it was also put upon them. Mushrooms (one drop) were put into soups and NAZI hearts stopped. All sorts of anti-NAZI things were applied to them and the out come was never pleasant for them.
These same tactic could (God forbid) be applied to those who seek my AK-47.
There are so few lawmakers willing to risk an early fate for the sake of chancing the wrath of students.
    I know I’m a sick puppy.

    1. Keoni Ronald May says:

In reality, disarming all of the law abiding citizens, will not disarm the criminals.

Organized crime, street gang members, and terrorists are armed to the teeth, with illegal weapons.

Disarming all of the law abiding citizens, for the crimes of all criminals, will only punish law abiding citizens, as though they are the criminals.

Maybe the reverse logic, should be a fine example.

What if the Federal government, mandated to all of the USA citizens, that they should be armed?

We should all possess firearms, like Switzerland.

We should all be drafted into the military, like Switzerland.

Switzerland does not have a firearms problem.

If organized crime in the USA were eliminated, the street gang members were eliminated, and the terrorists were eliminated, crime would drop to almost 75% to 90% (depending on the experts).

The law abiding citizens, would only be responsible, for the remainder of all other crimes.

  46. Oh Mo says:

After reading most of the posts on this article, and the article itself, it seems everybody is missing the basic issue. The issue isn’t firearms or rights, it isn’t mass shootings or terrorism. And is sure isn’t about god – any of them.

Cure the rage to stop the violence.

  47. Father Jeremiah says:

So with all this rhetoric about gun rights, where is the uproar and upheaval towards laws and regulations involving alcohol driving related deaths involving teenagers. You have to be a certain age, you have to have a license. And I don’t know the statistics, but I guarantee the deaths a year from these incidents greatly out number the teenage gun deaths a year. In my humble point of view, just because you increase the age of purchasing a firearm, is not going to stop anyone from getting their hands on a firearm.

What shouldd we fear. The greatest threat to our freedom,is government. We have people in lloorganiztion that would love to take over our a natttgovernment. How they will try is not an easy task. They would first work on our young minds.By what means will they . They will start with the media. In the news. They will use our freedoms to minipulate our minds of our children. With this powerful resourse With this influences they will control.Hitler said,if you say a lie over and over again, eventually people will believe it .That’s why we have to get involved with and give them some parental guidence. The best that we can do is to give them a Bible and study it wih them.Do guns fire by tthemselves? Do guns.pull the trgger by themselves?Do guns take aim at where are going to shoot at? Do guns load themselve?Guns. Don’t kill people. People kill people. We need to protect ouselves ,not only from others ,but from a tyrannical government.Young brotherrrs and sisters get educated in politics. Don’t be minipulated. God Bless you.

  50. Minister Just A Thought says:

Let us refer back to this lesson: if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
If you place a gun on the ground and no one is around to pick it up will the gun kill anyone…NO…a person must pick up that gun for that gun to kill someone
If any weapon is put on the ground and no one is around to pick it up will it kill someone (except a timed bomb)…..No. If you take guns away, people who do bad things will find a way to harm others. I have yet to see anyone marching down the streets for tougher box knife laws after 9-11. Let us get a hold of these young kids and introduce them to guns and teach them the right way involving guns, proper education will bring about proper use of a gun
Now let us side step for a moment for all of the God-fearing individuals who praise his name…..if you truly believe that God controls everything and God knows the exact path for everyone, then you must assume God made the idea of guns, bombs, abortion and all destructive things in the world, just as he has made all the loving things in the world.
Then you the Bible True-ist may respond to me with….”God lets us have a choice”, but I thought he knows everything and the path you will take.
God even created the Devil if you think about. If God forgives all then why can’t he forgive the devil? If there was no Devil would there still be evil thoughts in the minds of humans? Why not make a world where we live in peace and harmony instead of death and destruction, he has the power to do it.
One last thing to my Bible Tru-ists out there……There is One God and he has many names and many religions. For God is the one who split man into many languages and many religions. For some of you out there who dislike the inhabitants of the middle east, please remember that the Middle-east, Egypt, Israel areas were the birthplace of the religion you study today
