The Vatican just confirmed that they declined an invitation to the Board of Peace, a new international effort led by President Trump.
The Holy See “will not participate in the Board of Peace because of its particular nature, which is evidently not that of other states,” confirmed top Vatican diplomat Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
One concern? Parolin says that the Vatican would like to see the United Nations head global peacekeeping efforts. “At the international level it should above all be the UN that manages these crisis situations,” Parolin noted. “This is one of the points on which we have insisted.”
But what actually is Trump’s Board of Peace? And is this move by the Vatican the snub it appears to be?
What is the Board of Peace?
The Board of Peace is a new international body President Trump rolled out early this year with the headline purpose of helping stabilize and rebuild Gaza after a long, brutal conflict – and then, potentially, tackling other global disputes too.
With Trump as chair, the new Board of Peace kicked off with a signing ceremony in Davos before its first big meeting in Washington, D.C.
It's structured like a global club for peacemaking, complete with membership dues. Countries are invited to join, and if they pay $1 billion, they can stick around as permanent members; otherwise they get a three-year term that can be renewed.
So far, about two dozen states have signed on, including:
- Israel
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Turkey
- Egypt
- Jordan
- Indonesia
- Argentina
- Hungary
- Kazakhstan
As yet, many traditional Western powers remain sitting on the sidelines or attending as observers.
The Vatican vs. the White House
Since his election, Pope Leo has projected a vision of the papacy that emphasizes diplomacy, care for migrants, peacebuilding, and international cooperation, continuing themes familiar from his predecessor, Pope Francis.
Vatican leadership under Leo has expressed reservations about several policies associated with Donald Trump’s time as U.S. president, particularly those involving immigration restrictions, border enforcement, and unilateral approaches to foreign policy.
Leo, who is American, has been particularly vocal about the administration’s treatment of migrants. "We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement," Leo said in a statement last year. He has at times leaned on scripture to emphasize his grievances.
“How did you receive the foreigner, did you receive him and welcome him, or not? I think there is a deep reflection that needs to be made about what is happening,” he stated, regarding ICE’s at-times violent methods, mass deportations, and indefinite detainment of migrants.
The White House Responds
So far, the White House is leaving the door open for the Vatican to join the Board of Peace in the future. “The Pope and Vatican are welcome to join the many other nations who are committed to the Board of Peace and its guiding principles promoting stability and securing enduring peace,” said a White House official.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, however, was more direct. “I think it’s deeply unfortunate. I don’t think that peace should be partisan or political or controversial,” she stated, boasting of the “tens of member countries” globally who have joined.
The Vatican (perhaps strategically) positioned their decision as less about who is leading the effort and more about a philosophical difference over who should head global peacekeeping efforts – Washington D.C. or the United Nations.
But it’s no secret that Pope Leo and other top Catholic officials have been sharply critical of Trump’s policies foreign and domestic in his second term. Could that be a factor in their decision?
What do you think? Was the Vatican standing firm on their principles… or was this a strategic sleight? What role should the Catholic Church play in global peacekeeping efforts?

I agree 100% with Pope Leo. Trump is simply putting on a show.
-
End the crucifixion and accept responsibility for the will so freaky granted by the father my God and the bloodshed shall end.
-
I have to applaud the Pope's decision, and vision, to stay away from another obvious scam and cash grab by the orange jackass
-
It doesn't matter who is the President or the Pope. The Pope was asked to join an organization consisting of political leaders and maybe pay $1 billion dollars to do so. A Pope does not belong to the United Nations either. Regardless of your opinion of the Pope, the President, or the leaders that joined is beside the point. I am disturbed by some of the violent opinions posted here, including who should live in this world and who should die. It feels like political judgement using religion to excuse it. It does not feel respectful of humanity.
-
You are partially correct. The Vatican (technically a country) is not a member of the United Nations, but was granted permanent observer status back in 1964. This allows the Pope, or delegates to observe and participate in UN discussions and conferences.

Doesn't anyone read the book of revelations concerning the name of beast and how to figure out who the beast is disguised as? The name of a man which adds up to 666 , and that he would become the leader of the most powerful country in the world, Donald Trump is doing everything he wants to do in order to control the world, like taking control of AI , The Trump account, ICE actions in every Democratic governed state , wageing of war on weak nations , these things were planned before his first term , but was stalled by the Biden Win in 2024 , now he knows there's not much time for him in power to accomplish his plans, With the help of those in congress and staff , Now ,the Pope refuse to attend Trump peace board because He knows it's ungodly as well as Trump's Administration,so showned Trump and declined the invite , and rightly so , God bless the Holy see , ,Too the family of God : Stay alert and don't be deceived by his false promises, don't trust him or accept his offers, because he's setting you up for Mark of commitment or dedication of service to him .
-
You hit the nail on the head, like you said he had planned to do what he is doing in his first term and had he won in 2024. We would have already be going through what he's doing now, back in 2024.

One year has been enough to change my mind. Three more years, if he lasts that long, will only further confirm why I did.

The Pope recognizes a scam when he sees one. Trump's fake "peace" club is a money grab and empty words, nothing more. It's beneath anyone's dignity to respond to it.
-
Trump wants to replace the UN with his Board of Peace, so he can rule the world. That's all there is too it.
-
Anything is better than a UN graft and fraud in charge of food, medicine and fuel. The employees are busy selling it to Hamas and whatever is left over might get distributed...but only when the cameras are rolling and favorable media is in attendance. Hiring terrorists is always not a good look. The Pope turning down the offer was always going to happen. The Catholic churches stance against Jews goes back centuries. Besides, it's easier for them to be part of the problem than the solution.
-
You're right, I forgot about that latest UN debacle. UN employees were helping the Palestinians military the whole time.
Reem Alsalem, the UN woman's rights chick said no credible evidence of hamas rape on Oct 7. Then the body cam video from the Palestinian military was released....
-
-
Don't fix something that isn't broken. The UN and the WPF are available to work on issues for peace. Trump wants something that he can control and make money from it. The Pope made the correct decision.
-
78 years of UN failed peace works Michael? That's why Oct 7 massacre happened? Because the UN method works?

SOJ,
If we happen be here another century or mellinium, they will still be fighting like they have the past three or so thousand years.

Vatican Passes on Trump’s 'Board of Peace' – Context and Implications
The Vatican has announced that the Holy See “will not participate in the Board of Peace because of its particular nature”. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, told reporters that while the initiative represents “an attempt... to provide a response,” the Church has “certain critical issues that should be resolved.” He stressed that international crises like Gaza’s should be handled “above all” by the United Nations, reflecting the Vatican’s preference for multilateral solutions. Trump’s Board of Peace Initiative
The “Board of Peace” is a new body proposed under President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan. Announced in late 2025, it is a U.S.-led coalition aimed at coordinating Gaza’s reconstruction after the recent war. Mr. Trump chairs the board and invited many governments to join. Over 20 countries have participated, including Israel as well as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt. However, key Western allies (for example in Europe and Canada) declined to participate, preferring instead to emphasize Gaza relief through U.N. and other international channels. Vatican’s Diplomatic and Moral Tradition
The Holy See has a long history of international diplomacy and often serves as a moral voice in global affairs. It maintains formal ties with most nations and holds permanent observer status at the U.N.. The Vatican generally supports peace processes through broad international forums and insists on involving all parties in a conflict. For example, analysts note that the Holy See advocates a two-state solution in the Middle East and calls for humanitarian aid to civilians. Pope Leo XIV (the first U.S. pope) has repeatedly decried Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, consistent with the Church’s emphasis on human dignity. Reuters also notes that the Pope “rarely joins international boards”, reflecting the Vatican’s reliance on established U.N.-based diplomacy. Broader Reactions and Implications
Religious leaders and Catholic groups have spoken out on this issue. A network of Catholic priests (Priests Against Genocide USA) urged solidarity with Gaza’s people and warned that the Board “risks sidelining Palestinian voices”. In Jerusalem, Latin Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa called the U.S.-led board a “colonialist operation” of outsiders “deciding for the Palestinians,” stressing that Gazans must be involved in their own future. Such remarks echo broader calls from faith leaders and diplomats that peace initiatives be rooted in justice, inclusion and dialogue.
At the diplomatic level, the Vatican’s decision aligns with several other Western governments that declined to back the Trump initiative. Observers note that the Peace Board was set up as a parallel framework to the U.N., which has drawn hesitation from traditional allies. Some human-rights experts have warned that a U.S.-supervised board lacking Palestinian members could “resemble[] a colonial structure”. By opting out, the Holy See signals caution about partisan or unilateral approaches.
For religious communities, the Vatican’s stance highlights the importance of impartial peacemaking. It suggests that the Church will continue to press for solutions that include all affected people and respect human dignity, rather than aligning uncritically with any single government’s plan.

The Vatican made the right decision. Trump sponsoring a Board of Peace with himself as the Chairman. Hard to reconcile attacking boats off the coast of South America, preparing to wage war on Iran, threatening to annex Greenland, and disengaging from NATO as anything peaceful. World peace is the job of the United Nations. Trump being a peace advocate is as fake as Scrooge McDuck saying he'll give all his gold to charity.

The Emissary of Satan, the anti-christ, sits in our White House today and he is worshipped by the US christian right. The Pope stands almost alone agains this evil that has seeped into our Church.

It seems EVERYONE on this thread has something bad to say about President Trump. You all need to sit and read your bibles & think before you post. Also, many of you need to follow the “Code of Conduct” rules for making comments on this platform. As a Military veteran, I may not agreed with everything he says and does but I support his efforts to rid this great country of the CRIMINAL aliens.
-
You can read the bible if you want to. It’s not my book, and I don’t appreciate anybody telling me that I need to read that book. Because no, I don’t.
-
-
Most of today's youth can't or won't read so the Bible is lost there! Giving away free goodies to practice your religion is ok! Disruption of any gathering should be non felony! TV pictures and ads for Jesus is good way to for today's non readers to look at the pictures! It might show the momos that something or someone is missing from their lives!
-
Come on people. We all know by the things he says and his conduct that the president follows no religion whatsoever. If the Pope ignored the invite he was given to the Board of Peace, more power to him. The Board of Peace is a fictional organization formed by an egotistical Donald J. Trump so that, as its leader he could have another feather to add to his cap.He wanted it to replace the United Nations with him as its Secretary General.
-
The Catholic church are striving to make themselves irrelevant. As has always been the case with the Catholic church, they live by "do as I say, not as I do".
While the Pope criticizes the United States for simply enforcing our OWN immigration policy, Vatican City has the MOST RESTRICTIVE enforced immigration policy IN THE WORLD! It's nothing more than criticism along the "not in my backyard" lines.
How could you possibly be against the Board of Peace???? The Pope has no right to disparage President Trump or the United States for ANYTHING. The Board of Peace is better off WITHOUT any influence or input of the Catholic church - they have done nothing support those of us who are trying to change the trajectory of the world towards peace.
-
See Pamela, you've had too much to think today. Thinking can cause confusion to the antithinkites, it'll get them angry too.
I wish someone could answer your questions with logic and reason instead of slobbering pre-recorded vitriol.
Why on earth would anyone other that Nazi not want peace for Israel and her neighbors?
-
"Thou shalt have no other God before me..." God.
-
I think you will find the correct quote from that fictional book [Exodus 20:3] is “Thou shalt have no other gods (plural) before me”.
Whomever penned those words for that book was obviously concerned about all the other fictional gods that many were believing in apart from his. People attribute those words to someone called Moses of which there is no demonstrable evidence that this person ever existed.

The "Board of Peace" is a charade. Trump as chairman for life and a billion dollars to join the club? This is a vain effort to undermine the United Nations.
-
James, we're rapidly approaching 100 years of failed UN attempts to get Palestinians to stop killing jews from the river to the sea.
That dead horse has been whipped long enough, let it rest. Let's try something new.
-
Let’s face it, if Clinton, Obama, or Biden had created the “Board of Peace” you’d have been happy with it. It’s amazing how TDS affects the way people think isn’t it?
🦁❤️
-
TDS, is a MAGAt disorder that they try to project onto normal, intelligent people, which gets really obnoxious.
-
So, are you seriously thinking that normal, intelligent people, are those that would not stand up at the State Of The Union address this week when asked how many would put the interests of American citizens ahead of those who are illegal aliens, some of which are violent criminals?
You and I have a very different view of patriotism, and a love for our country 🇺🇸, that many have died for.
🦁❤️
-
As an outsider John, there is a real and measurable mental condition referred to as TDS. I don't go to trump rallies, don't have the red hat and don't really like the guy but I did vote for him for obvious reasons. Im glad he won't be up for election again.
TDS is real, measurable and reliable. Your use of the acronym MAGAt unfortunately should you into that group with the syndrome. That's one of the measurables.
If you're counting yourself as intelligent, as yourself why you would oppose stopping over 20,000 pounds of fentanyl smuggled in by drug lords annually. I understand why a person would be opposed to stopping it if they were an addict. That makes sense. If those in opposition are not addicts, then TDS is the diagnosis.
My apologies if you meant Make America Great Again Today.

Your ludicrous assumptions based on what little I have said, are bizarre, and hilarious to say the least. You don’t even have a ghost of a clue about what You are assuming about me. It must be strange to be living in a fantasy world where You, find yourself to be omniscient.
-
We are merely trying to probe your mind to figure out what very clearly is irrational thought. Preventing illicit drugs from coming into the United States killing our fellow citizens in my eyes is a huge plus. Preventing unvetted immigrants coming across our border with us having no knowledge of their intent, is obviously a huge concern that every country has with borders.
Are there going to be issues with this administration? Yes of course there will be. Just as there are with every administration.
It most definitely is not a fantasy world, wanting peace and harmony, and prosperity. Let’s all hope this administration can achieve those goals for the good of us all, without being blinded by hate.

The countries that have signed up for another grifting, and this is al about me BS, are countries with a less than sterling reputation for human rights or peace. What a farce. It appears that the countries with some respect for themselves have also opted out of this crap!. Athe author Rick Wilson wrote; "EVERYTHING TRUMP TOUCHES DIES". Also as Trump mother Mary wrote in her memoirs, " I gave birth to a MONSTER"!. Only other MONSTERS want to be associated with Trump. Pope Leo is NOT a monster nor is he easily manipulated by politicians. Great for him.🙏🏼
-
You're at least right about the drug running boats Trump touched. Those definitely died and thank God for that. Who knows how many Americans he saved in the process?
-
An open boat with outboard motors making the 1500 mile trip to Florida? Thinking that kind of vessel is for moving illegal drugs is delusional. One would almost have to be part of a cult to believe such a thing.

And that’s exactly how the cartel expected everyone to think. Thank goodness we have incredible undercover intelligence in that region to rely upon, and not just photo images.

The true irony is all of the countries on his Board of Peace have an almost ZERO score on human rights. Two of the countries have leaders firmly in Putin's pocket. In seven of them, any religion, except the state sponsored religion, is either banned or suppressed to the point that it may as well not exist. That Leo said NO to this says more about his character, and a recognition of the historical impact of using the Church as a political tool.
-
The Pope is 100% standing on his principles. He is from America. He understands the fact the the guy occupying the Oval Office is a 34 times convicted felon and adjudicated sexual abuser. He understands that these ICE raids are nothing less than governmental trafficking. The POTUS attacked sovereign nations unprovoked. That is not PEACE. The Pope knows this panel is just an from of self aggrandizement for the worst POTUS in America's history. Good for this poor not allowing himself to be used by the grifer in chief and convicted criminal.
-
The U.S. Department of Defense renamed the Department of War. So now we have the Board of Peace as a counterbalance. More nonsense.
-
I often site early Vatican history as the corrupt entity that published the Bible according to its own agenda making it inaccurate in many places and I still believe that of course. But the current Vatican does seem to be trying to do better. They made the proper decision to stay out of anything associated with trump 's attempts to control and manipulate.
-
As the titular head of Oklahoma’s Universal Life Church, I hereby request that the “Monastery.Org” open up a line of communication, between the POTUS (in his capacity as the representative for ‘Board of Peace’) in order that every ordained minister in ULC, receives an open invitation from the POTUS, to be formally inducted into the “Board of Peace” at the forthcoming “Board of Peace” get-together at the White House.
-
William, that would be terrible, 90 percent of the members here want trump Dead and Palestine free from the river to the sea, like the Nazi did.
-
We do not need to be members of the Board of Peace, it's Trump's attempt to be the sole ruler of the world we do not need to be associated with the board of peace all he wants to do is eliminate the UN so he can take over power of everything.
-
-
Trumps Board of Peace is just another way for him to try and grab power and glory for himself. The Vatican chose well when they declined Trumps offer. One day he will face the real God and all will know how very small and pitiful he is.
-
Oh no! Not the “real god”? Would that be your god by any chance, the one that genocidally killed babies, toddlers, children, and pregnant mothers in that flood?
I’m just asking for someone that believes in a kinder god that is all loving and doesn’t have temper tantrums.
🦁❤️

That would be the one lionheart. I'm assuming God had to deport all those icky people that just wouldn't stop raping, stealing, murdering and terrorizing each other.
Today we know when you let murderers run loose, they'll keep on murdering and even teach their children to murder like those little cute Islamic 5 year old suicide bombers do.
A good legal system has consequences even if it hurts people's feelings. Imagine what our country would look like if our legal system and politicians encouraged lawlessness. That would be terrible. Someone would have to step in and hurt some feelings.
-
So you’re fine with killing children, regardless of how young they are. Got it.
-
Lady dog cat, or whomever you want to be, go read whatever book you read (since we know it's NOT the bible, by your own admission) and let the Adults converse in peace!
-
It is most definitely NOT the judeochristian bible. And I’ll converse anywhere that I please.
-
-
No I'm not fine with killing children. Lady mutt cat. I don't think God is either. Disciplining us humans is an unpleasant work of his. However, children can be and are trained to hate and kill with rabid ferocity. I don't me the type of hate liberals throw around. I mean cut people apart with a machete and crucify type hate. Liberals like to water down words like love and hate until they're meaningless. Love is love. That's meaningless. There's no love like Christian hate sounds just like blah blah blah. Meaningless.
The cute little kids in ISIS prison camps for in Syria enjoy telling journalists they're going to kill them as they pelt them with rocks. Islam really likes its children ready for brutality at an early age. As they close these camps, those cut kids will get the opportunity to act on their blood lust.
Finally, the left has zero problem killing children even while inside the womb. No, age is of no concern for the left is it? To overcome the moral cost they lie to themselves and convince each other it's not a baby, it's just a glob of cells.

It's unfortunate that the self proclaimed broker of peace won't join peace talks.
Why doesn't anyone ask the Pope what would Jesus do?
Why don't the anarchists and antichrists who always ask what would Jesus do, ask what Jesus would do? Why do they praise the so-called mediator between man and God for abandoning peace talks?
I have the answer but it's not very nice.
-
This statement says it all: "The Vatican (perhaps strategically) positioned their decision as less about who is leading the effort and more about a philosophical difference over who should head global peacekeeping efforts – Washington D.C. or the United Nations."
-
Patricia, I wish that would have worked but since Israel declared independence in 1948, the UN has reliably failed along with everyone else to get the Palestinians to stop killing Israelites. 78 years and counting. Time for a new approach.
Don't forget, the Vatican was laundering gold from the Nazi who stole it from Jews, even their teeth not even 5 years before Israel claimed independence. The Catholic Church was working with the Nazi my dear.
I wonder, is everyone opposed to this Board of Peace really Nazi sympathizers? Is the world filled with Nazi? Its sure looking that way.
-
SOJ,
What you are talking about is a Pre-Vatican II Catholicism that looks as much like today's Catholicism as the United States resembles the split-down-the-middle US of the 1820s. The term Nazi is being thrown around by both the left and the right so much I don't think either side would recognize one if they goosestepped over them.
-
To my knowledge, I'm the only one on the right calling people Nazi. The left calls every Nazi though. That said, you're spot on, nobody today knows what that really means, what Nazi really were up to. I just do it for fun and to help grow people's empathy for others when they name call.
My father was in France in WW2. He'd be 105 years old in March. He gave me a well used German pistol from the war before he passed a decade back. Again, you're spot on, nobody today has a clue about what a Nazi really was. Dad did though and let's pray we never get reminded.
All fair points Patricia.
-
My step-father was a WWII vet that would have been 105 in March as well. He served in the Pacific though and died in 1989. He had an older brother in the Army Air Corps that flew bombers out of France. He was shot down, ejected, and then captured near Liege, Belgum and spent the last six months of the war at the Gulag Luft POW camp. Those two could tell some stories, and then there were stories that neither one of them could tell, but you knew they were in there somewhere.

The Vatican made a wise decision not to join Trump's so-called Board of Peace. For Donald Trump being Satan Incarnate will not and cannot promote peace in The World let alone The Peace that is beyond understanding that accepting The True Jesus or Islam to The Perfect Will of God leads to. The only form of peace that Trump can and will establish in The World is and will be THE PEACE OF THE GRAVEYARD! As Jesus PROPHESIED 2000 years ago: "...there will be wars and rumours of wars..." (Matthew 24:6) But Jesus also said 2000 years ago "...woe to the ones through whom these terrible things that I have foretold come." (Luke 17:1) With these words spoken 2000 years ago Jesus was referring to Donald Trump and his M.A.G.A. Gangsters TODAY in 2026. Trump has enough Nuclear Firepower right next to him in a little briefcase to kill the whole human race 3 times over. And his Boss Satan was REPRIEVED by Allah 6000 years ago to do just that or worse. It is Satan who guides Trump's every thought word and deed in order that what Jesus PROPHESIED 2000 years ago may come to pass. But he won't "get away with" anything for "All born will taste death." (Quran 21:35) and "I will fill Hell with jinn and humans all together - a multitude from every community." (Quran 11:119) It remains for Trump and The Leaders of many other Nations (like the Nations that are on The Board of Peace) to work hard to earn their Hole In Hell before they die and are sent by Allah to Hell to pay for The Crimes Against Humanity that some of them have already committed - like in America: The Black Only Slavery on Stolen Land Protected and Served by The Police and The Military of The U.S.A. Amen?
-
The word “Satan” is of course a human construct, which people love to weave into their narratives believing Satan is real, in an attempt to add a negative flavor to their rhetoric. They also love to quote sayings from books of fiction, as you did Michael, to support that narrative, but most of us are not fooled.
Here are some more quotes from fiction, but in a positive vein, that has a nicer viewpoint, in this case it references “love” for those who appreciate what love is all about. Let’s hope that DJT can help to bring peace and love around the world. Hopefully the Popes god would be in support of that. 🤭
“To Love, what to speak of pure love, is the most difficult lesson to learn for those who only know the language of [hate].”
(Based on Bhagavad-gita)
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live… [and love]."

It’s really good therapy to let it all out and get rid of those pent up feelings. Judging by the election you are not on your own, though you are obviously in the minority with the electorate voting for our wonderful President. On the plus side for you, if he doesn’t do well during his run as President, you might find your party could win next time. If on the other hand he does really well making America great again it could be a problem for you.
I’ve possibly witnessed more elections than you, having voted on both side of the pond, and everything always seems to work out okay as parties swing back and forth, so just relax, sit back, and hope your party eventually chooses a worthy leader. The last one, sleepy Joe, or whoever was in charge of the autopen, was a disgrace, that was your parties downfall.
In the meantime, our duly elected orange man President will do the best he can. 🤗

I'm sorry to say Michael that I don't think Jesus The Christ, son of God was talking about an 8 year political anomaly such as the President and his voters.
Think bigger for the Satan you're looking for. Think of a religious political movement that spans centuries. Really big. One that's butchered millions and never stops butchering millions. Even the Little Ones Jesus warned against killing, such a group would say is good to kill those little ones. That same religious political movement will be actively killing believers in Jesus, the Son of God. They'll also hate and kill Israelites.
It should stick out like a sore thumb. You find that religious political movement, you've found your Satan.
