The Vatican just confirmed that they declined an invitation to the Board of Peace, a new international effort led by President Trump.
The Holy See “will not participate in the Board of Peace because of its particular nature, which is evidently not that of other states,” confirmed top Vatican diplomat Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
One concern? Parolin says that the Vatican would like to see the United Nations head global peacekeeping efforts. “At the international level it should above all be the UN that manages these crisis situations,” Parolin noted. “This is one of the points on which we have insisted.”
But what actually is Trump’s Board of Peace? And is this move by the Vatican the snub it appears to be?
What is the Board of Peace?
The Board of Peace is a new international body President Trump rolled out early this year with the headline purpose of helping stabilize and rebuild Gaza after a long, brutal conflict – and then, potentially, tackling other global disputes too.
With Trump as chair, the new Board of Peace kicked off with a signing ceremony in Davos before its first big meeting in Washington, D.C.
It's structured like a global club for peacemaking, complete with membership dues. Countries are invited to join, and if they pay $1 billion, they can stick around as permanent members; otherwise they get a three-year term that can be renewed.
So far, about two dozen states have signed on, including:
- Israel
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Turkey
- Egypt
- Jordan
- Indonesia
- Argentina
- Hungary
- Kazakhstan
As yet, many traditional Western powers remain sitting on the sidelines or attending as observers.
The Vatican vs. the White House
Since his election, Pope Leo has projected a vision of the papacy that emphasizes diplomacy, care for migrants, peacebuilding, and international cooperation, continuing themes familiar from his predecessor, Pope Francis.
Vatican leadership under Leo has expressed reservations about several policies associated with Donald Trump’s time as U.S. president, particularly those involving immigration restrictions, border enforcement, and unilateral approaches to foreign policy.
Leo, who is American, has been particularly vocal about the administration’s treatment of migrants. "We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement," Leo said in a statement last year. He has at times leaned on scripture to emphasize his grievances.
“How did you receive the foreigner, did you receive him and welcome him, or not? I think there is a deep reflection that needs to be made about what is happening,” he stated, regarding ICE’s at-times violent methods, mass deportations, and indefinite detainment of migrants.
The White House Responds
So far, the White House is leaving the door open for the Vatican to join the Board of Peace in the future. “The Pope and Vatican are welcome to join the many other nations who are committed to the Board of Peace and its guiding principles promoting stability and securing enduring peace,” said a White House official.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, however, was more direct. “I think it’s deeply unfortunate. I don’t think that peace should be partisan or political or controversial,” she stated, boasting of the “tens of member countries” globally who have joined.
The Vatican (perhaps strategically) positioned their decision as less about who is leading the effort and more about a philosophical difference over who should head global peacekeeping efforts – Washington D.C. or the United Nations.
But it’s no secret that Pope Leo and other top Catholic officials have been sharply critical of Trump’s policies foreign and domestic in his second term. Could that be a factor in their decision?
What do you think? Was the Vatican standing firm on their principles… or was this a strategic sleight? What role should the Catholic Church play in global peacekeeping efforts?

The Pope’s from Illinois. We’re hip to POTUS 47’s grifting, and intelligent Illinoisans don’t fall for the MAGA silliness. That said, stupid ones do.

Wise decision on this matter. How can one justify giving a peace reconciliation to a person who divides his country and cause havoc.

The Vatican made a wise decision not to join Trump's so-called Board of Peace. For Donald Trump being Satan Incarnate will not and cannot promote peace in The World let alone The Peace that is beyond understanding that accepting The True Jesus or Islam to The Perfect Will of God leads to. The only form of peace that Trump can and will establish in The World is and will be THE PEACE OF THE GRAVEYARD! As Jesus PROPHESIED 2000 years ago: "...there will be wars and rumours of wars..." (Matthew 24:6) But Jesus also said 2000 years ago "...woe to the ones through whom these terrible things that I have foretold come." (Luke 17:1) With these words spoken 2000 years ago Jesus was referring to Donald Trump and his M.A.G.A. Gangsters TODAY in 2026. Trump has enough Nuclear Firepower right next to him in a little briefcase to kill the whole human race 3 times over. And his Boss Satan was REPRIEVED by Allah 6000 years ago to do just that or worse. It is Satan who guides Trump's every thought word and deed in order that what Jesus PROPHESIED 2000 years ago may come to pass. But he won't "get away with" anything for "All born will taste death." (Quran 21:35) and "I will fill Hell with jinn and humans all together - a multitude from every community." (Quran 11:119) It remains for Trump and The Leaders of many other Nations (like the Nations that are on The Board of Peace) to work hard to earn their Hole In Hell before they die and are sent by Allah to Hell to pay for The Crimes Against Humanity that some of them have already committed - like in America: The Black Only Slavery on Stolen Land Protected and Served by The Police and The Military of The U.S.A. Amen?

The word “Satan” is of course a human construct, which people love to weave into their narratives believing Satan is real, in an attempt to add a negative flavor to their rhetoric. They also love to quote sayings from books of fiction, as you did Michael, to support that narrative, but most of us are not fooled.
Here are some more quotes from fiction, but in a positive vein, that has a nicer viewpoint, in this case it references “love” for those who appreciate what love is all about. Let’s hope that DJT can help to bring peace and love around the world. Hopefully the Popes god would be in support of that. 🤭
“To Love, what to speak of pure love, is the most difficult lesson to learn for those who only know the language of [hate].”
(Based on Bhagavad-gita)
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live… [and love]."

I'm sorry to say Michael that I don't think Jesus The Christ, son of God was talking about an 8 year political anomaly such as the President and his voters.
Think bigger for the Satan you're looking for. Think of a religious political movement that spans centuries. Really big. One that's butchered millions and never stops butchering millions. Even the Little Ones Jesus warned against killing, such a group would say is good to kill those little ones. That same religious political movement will be actively killing believers in Jesus, the Son of God. They'll also hate and kill Israelites.
It should stick out like a sore thumb. You find that religious political movement, you've found your Satan.

I could be wrong but it appears to be just another shortcut taken by The president To make it all about me!!
