Satan is back in the headlines after making an unexpected appearance at the Golden Globes last night. It all started when Christian Bale took the stage to accept the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in the film “Vice.”

Midway through his speech, Bale caused a stir by thanking Satan for “giving him inspiration” for how to play the role of the widely-disliked former vice president.

The comments quickly went viral, prompting a response from the Church of Satan on Twitter. “To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential,” the church tweeted. “As Mr. Bale’s own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!”

Responding to one of thousands of “Christian thanks Satan” jokes that soon flooded the internet, the Church of Satan sought to point out why that statement might not be so crazy, after all:

And if the drama wasn’t great enough already, Dick Cheney’s daughter shot back with an article about Christian Bale’s alleged assault charge from back in 2008, quipping that “Satan probably inspired him to do this, too.”

Respectfully, when realized as an allegory, Satan and the Church of Satan are as valid as any other “religion”…Peace…Tom

      I couldn’t agree more.

I’m getting really tired of Satan being blamed for anything that no one wants to take responsibility for….

I’m happy that the church if Satan has spoken up..

I guess “the devil made him do it”. 😉

As far as myths go, why not praise satan? Most times its praise the lord, neither statement means much except a platitude to help yourself try to explain yourself.
Personally i don’t think he was saying praise to satan himself but using it as a euphemism, just saying.

Satan is the Lord that was put in place here on Earth and like Moses said Satans number is Six, the dragons number is six and man’s number is six. Therefore Satan is man however David was Left in Charge of all souls here on Earth, Abel left in charge of the underworld and Enoch of Heaven. However in literal terms David leads mankind through G-D “Goverenment of David main base in North America because that at is where Enoch was from “heaven” and Abel was from South America “the underworld”. There is more to religion than any person in power would say because they are sworn to secrecy through SS “Secret Societies”
And All secret Societies started with The yadrasill tree and the two snakes the Cabala and the Sephiroth always nipping at the Nordic tree of life. It comes down to psycology and Home Education. That’s why the home education of E.R.I.C and Maria Montessori will lead the way to worlds victory.

What amazes me is that you actually believe all this. Some people are so deeply engrained in their indoctrination that they become radical in their thought and belief structure to the point they become extremely scary. Sadly, you my friend, are one of these people.

Radical Islam is cultured, nourished, and grown from exactly this same type of ideological thought pattern that you have. It becomes so deeply engrained that it takes the person over, mind, body, and soul, to the point that they are no longer free to think for themselves. They become completely taken over.

I know you are sincere in what you believe, and for that, you really do have my deepest sympathy.

Boy Lionheart…you hit that one on the head. I think you will have to hit a little hard. That’s one nut that is hard to crack. It amazes me how people can become so congested with so much crap.

I bet those pedophile priests blame it on Satan too. I’ve heard a lot of Christians say ” The devil made me do it,” as if that was a way for them to be absolved of sin, yet none of them ever thank Satan for taking the blame, so they shouldn’t expect to receive his blessings. Christian Bale, on the other hand, surely will.

I think Satan inspires Liz Cheney still.

It’s an interesting world. I agree that Satan is the best thing that happened to the Christian churches. This fictional creature brings so many into battle for the sake of righteousness. We always love a good war.

According to Krishnamurti there is no God or Satan. The existence of these entities has never been proven. Krishnamurti posits that the existence of both are creations of man’s mind and nothing more. He strongly suggests that we all live a moral, compassionate life and what happens when we die will ultimately be realized at he time of our death. Our ego’s refuse to accept this and want to live on based on reincarnation, etc. Personally my ego wins and I believe that as is said in the Upanishads at the time of death we shed our bodies like a suit of worn out clothes and are born again in another body into another family to live out our karma until we are finished with this matter and then enter Nirvana/heaven to sit on a cloud strumming our harps and singing Kumbaya. Anyone want to comment?

    1. Lea says:

That’s we are I stand also…I would never blame Satan..And I would never say ” God must have a plan for me when things go wrong. Metta

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

I agree with you, Gary, but I intend to be in the section of nirvana (The Summer land, heaven, etc.) where AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Eagles and others will be playing live throughout eternity. And you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Cerberus will see to that. I sang Kumbaya enough in Catholic elementary school, starting in the late sixties. Now I’d rather sing “Pleased to meet you, won’t you guess my name.”

  8. Professor says:

Yay for Christian Bale, in his own weird way he made the evil of Dick Cheney a topic of discussion. As the modern day Benedict Arnold, Cheney was instrumental in the execution of 9/11 and murdered thousands of his own people to stay in power.

  9. Minister Ambe says:

In which context was Bale talking about “Satan”? I think this has to be differentiated. The Christian church’s mythology ascribes the ” wrong” things that happen in life to a character called Satan. Theologically, “Satan” as a nemesis to the order of creation is first recognized in the Khmt (Ancient Egyptian) mythos as Aphep and Set. Aphep is said to be the “serpent” of darkness. Set is described as being the darkness of night which the morning sun, “Ra” drives to bring a new day. The “Temple of Set”, which evolved out of the Church of Satan mentioned in the article, actually identifies the name “Satan” as having it’s roots in the name “Set-an”. The temple refers to Set as a type of archetype of consciousness that is the awakened soul. Being something of consciousness, of the subconscious mind, emersed in the black multi-dimensions of un-embodied thought. I can relate Christian Bale’s statement to that. He recognized something deeper in himself as having inspired him, as opposed to the traditional self-righteous claim of this inspiration coming externally from a “God”, assumed to be the Judeo-Christian god Yahweh. His attribution of success was given to where credit is due. To all those and that which counted.

  10. Kiva says:

Hell yea, he meant it😉 albeit with a wink and a nod, Cheney not one that passes muster of a man of God.

  11. Minister Linda says:

It’s obvious that he was recognizing Satan for helping him understand the sinister character he portrayed. I don’t see this as any type of real recognition, just equating evil with evil. So? what else is new?

  13. Personal friend of JESUS says:

Jesus came to this Earth as a baby and died as a man just for us. The BIBLE is Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth it does not tell you anything bad to do although it tells you of bad things that have happened and it also tells you of things that are currently happening and that will happen. The Bible is a Divine collection of works that we’re inspired by something (GOD) that is uncomprehendable for some; however; if your Soul looks out of this body which is only used as a vessel to carry the Soul and your eyes are the window to the Soul,if you open your eyes then your Soul will begin to understand this particular life which is absolutely nothing at all it’s not reality it’s currently a fabricated life until Gods work on this Earth is completed. We are here to assist him in completing his work by telling others about how he came to save us from sin which is also saving us from ourselves. It has been proven that God and Satan do exist. It does not matter in what context or how mythology depicts GOD or Satan or what they are called the story turns out the same. If you live your life thinking you only get one life open your eyes because they are the window to the Soul. GOD is great and I mean Jeavoah GOD. The GREAT I’AM!!!! THE BEGINNING AND THE END!!!

Please see my comments above to LEMECH-LEMECH. Sadly, you appear to fit the same category of homo sapien. You too have my deepest sympathy.

Try and hang in there as best you can. We are here for you if ever you genuinely want to reach out for help. It’s not an easy process, but many of us have made it through that deep indoctrination. I can assure you that complete recovery is possible.

Just giving credit where credit is due.

  15. Christal says:

This is kind of ironic, isn’t it? A man named Christian thanking Satan. Christian is a good fit on some people, but not a Satanist.

  16. John Owens says:

“Church of Satan Praises Christian Bale for Golden Globes Comment” a dubious distinction at best.
