A 22-foot tall golden statue of President Trump with his fist raised in triumph was recently unveiled at the Trump National Doral Miami golf course. Footage of the dedication quickly went viral online, as 30 million people and counting witnessed evangelical leaders praying over and blessing the towering statue, igniting fierce debate online over whether these faith leaders were praising Trump less as a leader or as a deity.
Now, the South Carolina megapastor who unveiled and dedicated the statue is trying his best amid mass internet backlash to assure critics that this massive gold statue of the leader of the United States is not a golden idol as described in the Book of Exodus.
Are pro-Trump Christian leaders actually engaging in idol worship?
“Not a Golden Calf”
Pastor Mark Burns, a longtime Trump ally who led the dedication, stated that the statue “is a celebration of life and a powerful symbol of resilience, freedom, patriotism, courage, and the will to keep fighting for America.” But many drew immediate comparisons between the religious overtones of the ceremony and the statue’s golden color to the golden calf in the Book of Exodus.
In the Book of Exodus, the golden calf refers to the idol crafted by the Israelites while Moses was atop Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments. Believing Moses had abandoned them, the people melted down their gold jewelry and fashioned a calf to worship - an act widely viewed in Christianity and Judaism as one of the Bible’s clearest warnings against idolatry and the worship of false gods.
It’s a comparison Pastor Burns hoped to avoid. “Let me say this plainly,” he wrote. “This is not a golden calf. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone.”
Social media wasn’t buying Burns’ explanation. That biblical imagery immediately flooded social media timelines, with critics accusing Trump supporters of elevating the president to quasi-religious status. Memes, Bible verses, and side-by-side comparisons between the Trump statue and traditional depictions of the golden calf quickly spread online.
Meanwhile, others found the incident stranger than fiction.
The mass social media response put Pastor Burns on the defense. “One of the greatest honors of my life was leading the dedication of President Donald J. Trump’s statue to the world,” he explained. “What amazes me is how quickly some people have compared this beautiful statue, created and made possible by more than 6,000 patriots, to a golden calf or idol worship.”
Are They Worshiping Donald Trump?
Whether the statue is simply an over-the-top political tribute or something veering uncomfortably close to religious idolatry depends largely on who you ask.
Supporters see the massive golden monument as a patriotic symbol honoring a political figure they believe changed the country, while critics argue that the imagery – particularly the gold coloring, worshipful language, and evangelical blessing ceremony – looks an awful lot like idol worship.
Either way, the spectacle has once again highlighted the increasingly blurred line between faith and politics in modern America.

It is on a private golf course. I don't remember people responding in such a way when the whale statue was added in Utah, the masses prayed to that as well. I do pray for our country, have been in the military to defend such freedoms and have never considered a statue, (any in DC) as a God or supreme leader. In Lubbock we have the builder, person that created a bronze statue of himself, his wife and dog is on display in his designed neighborhood, and nobody prays to it.

So, the original purpose of the golden calf was not to be worshiped itself, but to represent Jehovah--it was intended as a "mount", a platform upon which God would be envisioned; it could well have just been a throne, but local tradition used young male cattle as sacrifices and symbols of godly power because of their strength and power. So the reason they put the calf up was so that they could look at it while thinking about God and addressing God, not the calf itself. HOWEVER. It did not take long before they became lazy and stopped trying to focus on God, and instead just worshipped the calf itself because it was there. They dropped the spiritual intent of the act of worship and instead just performed a hollow, habitual ritual just to do it, rather than personally trying to connect with God and focusing on the divine. They did not start out worshiping the calf, but they very quickly found it a convenience to do so instead of taking the time and effort to actually interact with God.
This statue was not meant to be worshiped, I'm sure. But its origins are very similar, and the people who rally around Trump have already shown a great propensity for following him without question--if he does or says something, they assume God wanted it that way, so they are absolved of having to think about that themselves. This is absolutely the path to worshiping the golden calf.

I have not seen any statistics on whether or not the drug traffic has slowed down, and from what I understand the "street" Fentanyl mostly comes from China, so if you include beefing up customs, and airport and ship "borders," that have been closed, I doubt it has made a dent. Please prove me wrong. There was a huge bust here about a month ago, that netted a huge haul of both street heroin and fentanyl, so it's still out there.
All he is doing in Iran is stirring up a hornet's nest. He can only threaten bombings, execution of them would be the worst political mistake he can make, and only get us involved in something we cannot get out of without half the military being prosecuted on the world's stage as crimes against humanity. I think he knows that he is in over his head right now with a regime that is as hard-headed as he is, which is why he is now focusing on Cuba.
If Maduro is convicted it will be one of the biggest miscarriages of justice ever committed in the good ole USA, because his arrest broke US Military, Constitutional, and International laws. He will probably head right back to Venezuela once his case is thrown out and the lawyers and military sanctioned for it. The news has been pretty silent on the progress of that case. Do you have any speculation as to why?

Peaceful protest: Any crowd that gathers to object to a public policy or institution and does not incite violence. This includes reacting non-violently when provoked by outsider violence, in which the outsiders are the guilty party.
A person with dementia: A medical condition diagnosed by a neurologist. It causes the person's cognitive processes to degenerate and eventually causes their death.
Which bathroom to use: The one that matches gender identity or a Unisex designated one, or the guest bathroom in your host's house, or the master bathroom in my house.
Fishing boat: one equipped with fishing rods, reels and nets
And for the big one: Woman - Anyone who says they are. I don't care what your genitals look like as long as you use a stall when we are in a public restroom together.

Biden didn't release or discuss the documents because they were actively investigating and pursuing justice. You don't talk about your evidence before you submit charges. His administration, as far as I can tell, never said there wasn't anything to see in the Epstein files.
Trump comes into office and all of a sudden, there's nothing to see in the Epstein files, no one else implicated, and no further investigations. The files only got released (and there are still files missing) when congress forced Trump to do so. Some files had the names of those implicated in crimes redacted while the names of the victims were not, which is the opposite of how the documents were supposed to be redacted. There are clearly rich, powerful men who used their relationship with Epstein to sexually abuse minors and they're now being protected by Trump's administration.

It could be that, because the Trump DOJ has killed all investigations of Epstein's clients, there are people with damning testimony that have not had their stories told. There are statements made by a victim who accuses Trump of sexually abusing her, so maybe conservatives are just ignoring the substance of the Epstein files. Sadly, that’s what we have come to expect from you, Lionheart, and it’s quite obvious nothing will change your mind. I also never said Trump was guilty. I said he was mentioned over 5300 times in the Epstein files, that his administration is protecting sex abusers and pedophiles, that there's testimony from an alleged victim that implicates Trump, and that, for someone who claims to be completely innocent, he's doing nothing to get justice for Epstein's victims.
I fully understand the burden of proof required for a jury to convict a defendant and I never made any claims that there was enough evidence currently to convict Trump. I'm trying to point out to you that there's lots of evidence that the current DOJ does not wish to seek justice for the Epstein victims and Trump's reluctance to release the whole files or pursue the wealthy men implicated does not give the appearance of an innocent person.

Here's why I am mentioning the Trump administration's disinterest in seeking justice for Epstein's victims:
This started with you claiming the Trump/Epstein files didn't exist, so I pointed out that Trump was mentioned in over 5300 files.
You claimed that, if there were files, Biden's administration would have released them, so I pointed out that they wouldn't release the files while still investigating, which they were.
Next comes a straw man argument saying I'd claimed Trump was involved in Epstein's crimes when I was only pointing out the fact that Trump is named in 5300+ of the Epstein files and that it's strange that he appeared hellbent on releasing the full files while running for office, only to suddenly claim there was nothing in the Epstein files once becoming president.
I also pointed out that, after congress finally forced Trump to release them, the files released had been incorrectly redacted as many perpetrators' names were redacted while victims', whose names were supposed to be redacted, were not. That is not a justice department pursuing justice for victims.
Next I point out a number of possible reasons as to why we might not have hard evidence to convict Trump of crimes, noting that his administrations complete lack of interest in pursuing justice could be a reason why evidence hasn't been found yet; you can't find what you're not looking for.
Lastly, I make that statement because that is what I and millions of other people have observed this administration doing. There are victims who have come forward publicly; some were in the room during Pam Bondi's hearing over the Epstein files. When asked if they had reached out to the DOJ about their stories, every one of them in the room raised their hand. When asked how many of them received no response from the DOJ, every hand stayed up. That is not pursuing justice for the victims of sex trafficking and assault; that is protecting the pedophiles who used Epstein to sexually abuse girls. The Trump administration's actions speak louder than words.

It’s hardly surprising he was mentioned in many files from that time, many other people were. This does not mean he was in any way connected with Epstein's crimes.

I’m sorry to disappoint you but there is still NO evidence to link Donald Trump to any of those crimes Epstein was involved with.
You are correct that Biden couldn’t release files while they were being investigated, but, if they had found any evidence that Donald Trump was implicated “during the investigation” they most certainly would have jumped at the chance to say they have found evidence but they cannot release the details as yet. That’s the way they work, and they would have loved to have found some very meaty evidence to leak to the press to discredit Donald Trump, but alas, for people like your self, there just wasn’t any. First off, the Democrat party is not my party, despite the fact that I tend to vote for their candidates. I'd much rather vote for different parties but, with our current electoral system, we're often stuck voting for the party who has the best chance against the party we like the least instead of voting for the candidates we like the most. Second, Platner has been widely criticized, and rightfully so, by the left for his past comments and his now covered tattoo. Meanwhile, Nick Fuentes, an admitted, vocal White Christian nationalist and misogynist, has become more and more popular with conservative voters with right-wing media figures laundering his bigotry such as the laughable "interview" done by Tucker Carlson where he didn't challenge Nick's bigotry at all.
