A pope calling for world peace is not typically front page news – until his message gets criticized by those at war.
When Pope Leo called the war in Iran "truly unacceptable" and warned that a "delusion of omnipotence" was driving the conflict, President Trump and other U.S. leaders decided to hit back.
Pontiff vs. President
Here’s a quick rundown of events. Trump recently called the pope "weak on crime" and "terrible for Foreign Policy."
He then doubled down, and refused to apologize:
Leo – the first American to hold the office – replied that he had "no fear" of the administration and would keep preaching the Gospel's call to peace.
On Thursday, Leo delivered a follow up message:
The Just War Question
But the president was not alone in criticizing the pope. Vice President JD Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, took a theological approach. Vance invoked "more than a 1,000-year tradition of just war theory" to suggest Leo had overreached.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson echoed this sentiment, and said that the pope had it coming by “wading into political waters.”
Putting aside the notion of a recent convert lecturing the leader of 1.2 billion Catholics on questions of theology (something many critics took issue with), it’s worth exploring the idea of just war theory and where it stems from.
As it happens, Leo just recently honored St. Augustine, one of the tradition's founding thinkers. He’s also somewhat of an expert in this area.
What Is Just War Theory?
Just war theory, developed by Augustine in the 5th century, holds that armed conflict is morally permissible only when it meets a clear set of criteria. For a war to be just, it must be:
- Declared by a legitimate authority
- Fought for a just cause (typically defense against aggression)
- Waged as a last resort after peaceful options are exhausted
- Inflict harm proportional to the good achieve
- Protect civilians
- Have a reasonable chance of success
Miss any one of those bars, and the theory holds that the conflict is unjust – regardless of how righteous the aggressors claim their cause is.
Catholic Leaders Unite Behind Leo
So does the Iran conflict qualify as a “just war?” Catholic leaders around the world are not so sure.
Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington has said the Iran campaign fails that test, calling it a “moral failure which under Catholic just war principles renders both the initiation of this war and any continuation of it morally illegitimate.”
Bishop James Massa, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, agreed, noting that “For over a thousand years, the Catholic Church has taught just war theory and it is that long tradition the Holy Father carefully references in his comments on war.”
Popular Pope, Unpopular President
What makes this conflict between pope and president striking is not just what Leo is saying, but how he is building the case. Unlike Pope Francis – known for provocative sound bites that sometimes alienated factions within the church, including American bishops – Leo has cultivated broad, methodical support across the global church before speaking.
Francesco Sisci, director of the Appia Institute in Rome, put it plainly: "Francis was a rock star, but Leo is the conductor of an orchestra."
Pope Leo is hardly the first pope to get involved in world affairs.

The new pontiff has also been consistent in his support of peace since assuming the role. Earlier in his pontificate, Leo drew widespread attention for condemning the killing of civilians in Gaza. His messaging on the Iran conflict is an extension of the same underlying philosophy.
His approach also appears to be working, at least if you look at public opinion. Leo holds a 34-point net-positive approval rating among U.S. registered voters, compared with a 12-point net-negative for the president, according to an NBC News survey from March.
For a church still rebuilding its standing after decades of clerical abuse scandals, Leo's willingness to confront power directly is widely seen as an opportunity.
Cardinal Michael Czerny, a senior Vatican official, framed the stakes in theological terms: "How to live the gospel in the real world? That is inevitably political. When necessary we have to speak truth to power."
What is your reaction?

I'll take Pope Leo over the pathetic excuse for a president any day of the week. Just War Theory doesn't come close to explaining the unwarranted attack by the US on Iran. And I'm sick to death of seeing my tax dollars spent on funding Israel's sick wars of aggression and on its land thefts.

It’s totally okay that you don’t understand the need to stop a fundamentalist Islamic country from having nuclear warfare. Fortunately Clinton, Obama, and Biden did, and so did Trump, and at last we have someone with the spheres to put a stop to a country that chanted Death to America for 47 years, and they would have eventually done it if they ever had the chance. I know you don’t believe that, and thats okay, many don’t!
This is going to be one of the quickest wars you will experience where people in the world will be able to breathe a sigh of relief, thanks to USA, just like many Iranian citizens already do, knowing their brutal Islamic regime will come to an end.

I don't think the thousands of dead Iranians, as well as medics and journalists, from US and Israeli bombs are breathing sighs of relief, nor are the millions of displaced Iranians due to the war.

No of course they are not, thats one of the terrible effects of all wars when attempting to gain peace, no matter which Administration is in office at the time. Hopefully this war will be much shorter than wars of other administrations, with less loss of life.

That's because the pope and democrats are 1 in the same. They would rather live under the Iran regime.

Humans have been using conflict and war to gain territory or the use of mineral wealth and other resources for ever. Wars to prevent human abuses unfortunately result in their own kinds of trauma and destruction. This administration led voters to believe that reducing or eliminating war was one of its goals. The actions of this president and his administration have not fulfilled that promise. War should not be a first choice, but this president has made threats against more than one nation and has initiated a war that was not sanctioned, a war that cannot be justified. Leaders of our faith communities who believe in the power of peace, compassion, courage, and honor fulfill a needed role by speaking truth about these events.

Apparently, when you’re under the thumb of Bibi N and he tells you to go to war, you do.

THE SILENCE NOBODY LAUGHED AT
And the Cost of Letting Things Pass
Rev. JTSUNRISE
The Vice President of the United States stood in public and challenged the Pope’s understanding of the just war tradition.
The Pope is an Augustinian friar. He led the order shaped by Augustine, whose work formed the early structure of that doctrine, later refined by Thomas Aquinas.
He stands inside the lineage that preserved it.
He was treated as if he did not understand it.
Nobody laughed.
That silence reveals the condition.
⸻
ON SILENCE
Falsehood has always existed. That is constant.
The change is the absence of resistance.
When a false or distorted claim about a well-established tradition produces no correction—no objection, no consequence, no laughter—the system has shifted. The threshold has moved. What once required response now passes unchallenged.
That is not ignorance.
That is adjustment.
And adjustment is how normalization works.
⸻
ON HOW IT SPREADS
At the personal level, most people tell the truth. Research consistently shows that deception is concentrated, not universal. Most people, most days, operate honestly with each other.
The failure is structural.
Albert Bandura described the mechanism. When authority acts without consequence, incentives change. The signal moves downward through institutions and relationships.
It communicates one thing:
Accuracy carries risk. Assertion carries advantage.
People adapt. Not from malice. From reason.
Over time, confidence replaces verification. Volume replaces evidence. Claims succeed by force of delivery rather than force of truth.
⸻
ON POWER
Michel Foucault identified the deeper mechanism.
Power does not defeat arguments. It disqualifies speakers.
The question shifts from: Is this correct?
to: Does this person count?
When that shift completes, truth no longer governs the exchange. Authority does.
In that moment, the Pope was not refuted. His position was challenged without engaging the full weight of the tradition he represents. His standing was treated as negotiable in a political frame.
That is not theological argument.
It is power redefining authority.
⸻
ON WHAT THE REACTION REVEALS
The public response—comment sections, threads, reactions—is easy to dismiss.
It should be read instead as a record.
It shows what happens when people lose access to continuity: when knowledge is detached from memory, when identity replaces analysis, when who said it replaces is it true.
This condition does not arise from stupidity.
It arises from deprivation.
People cannot evaluate what they were never given. They cannot apply standards they were never taught. They cannot draw from traditions that were never transmitted.
What appears as ignorance is often absence.
The reaction is not the disease.
It is the symptom of a deeper failure: the erosion of the systems that carry knowledge across time.
⸻
ON WHAT IS AT STAKE
The just war tradition was built to constrain power, not justify it .
It establishes criteria that hold under pressure. They do not adjust for convenience. They do not bend for authority, urgency, or collective emotion.
They apply, or they do not.
That is what a standard is.
The Hebrew concept of emet expresses this: truth as alignment between claim, reality, and action, sustained over time and maintained under cost.
When that alignment weakens, truth becomes situational.
When truth becomes situational, power fills the space it leaves.
That process is visible now.
⸻
ON THE PRACTICAL QUESTION
This is not abstract.
Every unchallenged distortion lowers the cost of the next one. Every silence trains the system. Every avoided correction shifts the threshold further from accuracy and closer to assertion.
The accumulation is decisive.
The question is not whether false statements will occur.
The question is whether they encounter resistance.
That answer is given in specific moments, by specific people, where accuracy carries cost and is upheld anyway.
⸻
THE LINE
The moment nobody laughed is not incidental.
It marks a boundary: between systems governed by knowledge and systems governed by assertion; between cultures that maintain memory and cultures that discard it; between communities that evaluate claims and those that perform allegiance.
Crossing that boundary happens quietly.
Reversing it requires deliberate action.
It requires people who state what is accurate, correct what is not, and hold standards in real time—when the claim is made, the room is silent, and the cost of speaking is clear.
That is where moral responsibility now resides.
Not in belief.
In action.

Part 3 about you tear down your 2 miles of wall and eliminate the gate at the entrance? Once again I refer to Matthew 7:3-5, part of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus warns against hypocritical judgment by asking why one notices a small "speck" in another's eye while ignoring a large "plank" in their own. He instructs followers to first remove the plank from their own eye to gain clarity before helping others. Once again we see where the Catholic Church clergy is great at giving advice when they are blinded by the plank in both their eyes. Sorry to be so long but this is not a subject to be glossed over lightly. Go on AI and ask it to compare the United States of today and how it compares to the Roman nation extinction. I have done so and we are walking that Roman death road now and it shows the primarily cause was with illegal immigration. God Bless Rev J

then reassigned them to new parishes without warning the new community or the families of who they were getting. Some abusers were just plain relocated without benefit of help and without telling the parish they were assigned to that they were child abusers. Now before I wrap up this Catholic Church fiasco let's just look at the main ingredient here. The main ingredient is one of lying. Who is the father of all liars? Satan! In Matthew 7:3-5, part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns against hypocritical judgment by asking why one notices a small "speck" in another's eye while ignoring a large "plank" in their own. He instructs followers to first remove the plank from their own eye to gain clarity before helping others. I am not proclaiming that America is a shinning example of piety. But what America has done pails in comparison to the Catholic Church and all churches I fear. The moment of the Catholic Church being no longer the Church that Christ had handed down to the disciples has been corrupted by LIES by our clergy. Satan has entered the Catholic Church by the same corruption when he got Eve to eat of the tree of knowledge. So if the pope wants to tell others how to act he should do it also by example and be of no evil. Yet the pope fails to see that Iran or it's proxies have been at war with the U.S.A. as well as Israel for 47 years. Over the past 47 years (roughly 1979–2026), the Iranian regime and its proxy networks have been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,000 American military personnel and civilians. While there is no single official "47-year total," a reliable estimate is based on major conflicts and terror attacks attributed to Iran and its proxies (Hezbollah, Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad) and places the number of Israeli deaths at approximately 3,500 to 4,500 people. It has been about time to end this charade once and for all time. So, my considered opinion is that Iran has had it's 47 year war with the U.S, and Israel come to it's end. They just do not know when to quit. If the pope is rooting for Iran, then he is not of God at all. He serves the devil. The Catholic Church needs to purge itself of Satan's presence in the Catholic Church. Now, with Iran having been on the attack for 47 years against America and against Israel we have a right to self defense and so does Israel. At least an estimated 6,000 Americans and Israelis have been murdered by Iran. Enough is enough. When Iran stated it would built a nuclear bomb the Iranian threat to Israel and America was to great to allow. If Iran was to possess a nuclear intercontinental nuclear bomb they would use it. In case the pope is deaf, Iran to this day is still chanting for death to Israel and death to America in their streets for all the world to hear. The Iranian government should understand it will be either total destruction to Iran or they will get to a deal with the world and Iran having no nukes. All you people of the world should be aware that once the nukes start flying there will no one longer living above ground. Every thing will contaminated and that means the water, the soil, any animals that survive will be contaminated. The earth will be a burned out cinder. Iran does not care about any future they belief is death is ok they will be rewarded with 77 virgins. And one more bit of advice for the dope of a pope, The walls surrounding Vatican City stretch for approximately 2 miles. It was built primarily to protect the Pope. They enclose the majority of the 120-acre Vatican grounds. Again your predecessor tells us to take down our walls along the border along our nations boundaries, that we should allow any and all immigrants (so called because they have not come across the border illegally to get the name illegal immigrant) to gain entry. We see where the one time head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has historically criticized the U.S. border wall and, in a letter to U.S. bishops on February 10, 2025, sharply criticized U.S. immigration policies under the Trump administration, describing mass deportations as a violation of human dignity and urging the nation to "avoid walls of ignominy". For those of you who do not know what this word means, ignominy means public shame, dishonor, or deep disgrace. Seems to me that the eons of abuse by the clergy, the lying to cover it up by God's shepherds, threatening of the victim and the victim's guardians, NDAs to keep the victim and the victim's guardians from speaking out, and the out right bribery with money to escape their evil doings. Especially the passing on to other parishes without mentioning these evil priests and their child molesting attacks children. I don't know but that word, ignominy, better fits the Catholic Church more than America, By the way pope how many families are you taking in at the Vatican? You should be overrun by immigrants. So live up and tear down that wall and allow more immigrants than you can handle into your nation of God. How

Hi All, You had better sit down and have drink standing by as this will be a looooooong read. I would think the pope has forgotten the eons of lies the church has told us parishioners about sexual abuse of our kids going as far back as 307AD. Just as U.S. President Harry S. Truman (the 33rd president) famously stated that "the buck stops here" which was his desk. Well I am quite certain the buck stops at the pope's desk too. Now if anyone wants to try to convince me that in pope Leo's rise to power he was not exposed to these sexual assaults on kids by priests give it a shot. I wonder if someone questioned this pope, pope Leo, on his knowledge of the abuse of minors by priests, he would he fall back on the WWII Sgt. Schultze of Hogans Hero's favorite line, "I know nothing". Come on and give it a whirl. The Catholic Church has known about and documented clerical sexual abuse of minors for decades with internal records such as those analyzed in the 2004 Canonical History of Clerical Sexual Abuse, indicating awareness of the issue for centuries. Evidence shows extensive, systemic knowledge and record-keeping in church files regarding abusing priests from at least the 1950s onward. The peak abuse allegations occurred between the 1960s and 1980s. Documentation in files that exist in the internal church files system, including those from the Archdiocese of Boston, showed 789 victims of clergy abuse between the 1950s and the early 2000s. The John Jay Report of 2004 revealed roughly 11,000 allegations against 4,392 priests in the U.S. between 1950 and 2002. Still think this pope had no l knowledge of these goings on? Decades of covered-up knowledge in a 2018 report found that over 300 "predator priests" in Pennsylvania abused more than 1,000 children over seven decades, with files revealing a "sophisticated" cover-up by senior church officials. Long-term knowledge studies, including those analyzing church files, have documented abuse cases and attempts to cover them up back to the 19th century and earlier. Father Gerald Fitzgerald in the 1950's, advised the Vatican officials that abusive priests were unlikely to change and should not be returned to ministry when found out. The Boston Globe in 2002, investigated into the Archdiocese of Boston found that bishops knew of allegations and transferred priests rather than removing them from ministry, with reports in files going back to at least 1984. So, I have to conclude that the sexual abuse of children, by the clergy, was an open secret. A John Jay report of 2004 and in addition to its 2011 follow-up study provided comprehensive data on the scope of abuse. It showed that for 52 years (1950-2002), the problem was widespread, affecting over 95 percent of all dioceses. The Catholic Church has a documented history of awareness regarding clerical sexual abuse dating back centuries, with internal records of accusations appearing as early as 307 AD. Modern public awareness spiked in the 1980s and 2002. Church authorities have managed such misconduct through organizational laws and secret archives for most of the Catholic Church's institutional history. Investigations have revealed that documentation was often used to manage or "shroud" abuse in secrecy rather than report it to civil authorities. In other words they swept it under the rug. Historically, the Catholic Church used several methods to manage victims and their families, often prioritizing the institution’s reputation over the safety or justice of the survivors. These methods ranged from financial settlements conditioned on silence to psychological manipulation and systemic intimidation. Primary methods of handling the victims and guardians was NDA's or Non-disclosure- agreements. In other words the Church, dumped a whole bunch of money into their sexual abuse scandal and it is solved, or so they thought. Just a note here the NDAs signed by Trump were deemed to be not legal but the thousands done by the Catholic were legal. They must had the approval of God? These agreements were designed to prevent victims from connecting with each other or speaking to the media. Intimidation and shaming of these families was often used, intimidating or shaming them into silence. This was particularly effective against vulnerable families who feared retaliation or losing their standing in the local church community. Some religious institutions threatened families with expulsion or excommunication, as well as other punishments if they spoke out. This was particularly effective against vulnerable families who feared retaliation or losing their standing in the local church community. Some religious institutions threatened families with expulsion or other punishments if they spoke out. The Church has actively lobbied to protect "clergy-penitent privilege" to prevent (part 1)

the pope is the head of the organization that runs the world,if he was actually opposed to it,he could put a stop to it with one call.he won't because they don't want peace.

This is not a just war. The pope is very careful how he speaks and responds. Trump is just bullying and denouncing because he is wrong and he knows it. If you have criticisms he cannot stand it. The words he uses are the same throughout the years. He keeps repeating them about people that don’t follow his every word. Check it out and you will see for yourself. The fact that he is trying to drag our pope into this is despicable.

The Roman Catholic Church needs to stay out of politics and do what God has commanded all Christians to do... spread the news of salivation. People have forgotten that the Pope during World War-II colluded with Nazi Germany, so the blood of the holocaust is on their hands. And where was Pope Leo's outrage when Iran murders thousands, hangs women for speaking out and tossing gay men off the roofs of buildings?
-
With all due respect to the Pope, he lives in a gated fortress, surrounded by the Swiss guard. I wish he would welcome illegal immigrants to the lawns of the Vatican and then offer to go to Iran and speak to their leaders to negotiate a peace deal. Since the Vatican has a prayer room for Muslims, I would hope one of the elaborate mosques in Iran would have a chapel with a statue of Jesus for the Pope to pray in while he is there.

Facts matter. This is NOT a just war! The power grab sought by the Israeli PM has brought this pain on the world. He got the USA to aid him in this. The same thing he did with Iraq. Our President Bush looked like a fool and was criticized for it. We had thousands of our soldiers killed or injured because of that un just war. A lie led by the same Israeli PM about wmd which did not exist. And here we are again with "intel" and pressure from the same Israeli PM . He and the world knows Israel as is cannot survive without the USA. He sought our (usa) help last year to bomb Iran this year he took it further and pushed us to help him with a war against Iran again under false pretense.... an unjust war. By the very definition of a just war as developed and defined by the catholic church this is an unjust war! So yes, unfortunately I must agree that the Pope is correct on this one!

Need a true Pope like Pope Urban ll who started the Crusades to end the push of islam to take over the world.

I wish both Christianity and Islam would implode and take their zionist Israelis with them.

This pope would surrender to islam rather then defend the Church. He has shown he is weak and a trader to the church.

What an absolutely absurd statement to make. You've clearly guzzled the Fox News Kool Aid and are simply regurgitating their simple-minded fear driven propaganda. And the word is "traitor", not "trader".

Exactly!

It would be interesting to see what would happen if there were another attack by Islamic people against the Vatican City, how the Pope would react, and if the nations would rally around and defend the Vatican.
There is a reason for walls, but the Pope has denounced the walls we have built here in the US.
I am all in favor of peace, but I am against any group that says death to Americans, and every chance they get, some radical makes an attack.
We must defend our country and its citizens against outside forces that wish to destroy us.

I think that Trump is mentally declining. He slurs his words, sleeps during meetings, regularly makes insane statements such as calling for genocide, throws tantrums like an infant (e.g. throws a meal with ketchup all over the wall), etc. I don't think Trump is any more cognizant than Biden. At least Biden was cognizant enough to follow sane advise from his handlers.

34 felony charges that were "created" and where there were NO VICTIMS.... those will eventually go away, but they are so insignificant that they do not demand the attention that more important matters do at the moment. And you forget that the previous "president" pardoned his son for crimes he has not yet committed!! As for January 6th, the ONLY person who should have been convicted of a crime was the rogue "police" officer who MURDERED an unarmed Air Force veteran for the heinous crime of "trespassing" in a building that she was a part owner of! Do some research and stop repeating everything that CNN has told you to say....

He defrauded the state of New York and lending companies by lying about his financials so he didn't have to pay the taxes he should have paid and so he could get better terms on loans. If anyone does that, they're going to go to court and convicted when there's plenty of evidence of the fraud. Lucky for Trump, though, he's gonna receive a slap on the wrist for his crimes. I'd be jailed and fined millions if I did the same thing.
Biden pardoned his son to spare him from political prosecution by the Trump administration and, while I strongly disagree with that decision, I also can understand why a father would want to spare his son from future legal harassment by an administration that is currently prosecuting their political enemies on the flimsiest of charges.
The halls of Congress in the Capitol building is not a place where anyone can go in and do whatever they want. The J6 rioters were grabbing capitol police, pulling them into the mob, brutally beating them, and saying "kill him with his own gun." The poor lady who was killed while trespassing on federal property was climbing through a window broken by the violent mob so they could get into the Speaker’s Lobby, immediately outside the House chamber, and the officer fired to stop the mob from getting to our elected officials. This is the same mob that was chanting "hang Mike Pence," erected a gallows outside the capitol, and called Democrat law makers traitors deserving of death. We're so incredibly lucky that no one was murdered by that mob and the Trump administration pardoned them all. Some of those pardoned have gone on to commit other crimes, including child sex abuse.

It's a terrible tragedy that she was shot but I don't know what she expected would happen when she tried to climb into a room full of armed officers, guns drawn, telling her to stop.
Do some research and stop repeating everything Newsmax, Fox News, The Daily Caller, and all of the other conservative propaganda "news" organizations have told you to say.

Wow. You really have drunk the KoolAid.

To me the Pope is an elected official who spoke nothing about the killing of Christians in Nigeria and Iran mowing down thousands of protesters . Yet , he takes a stand for people that have chanted death to America for 47 years . Embracing Islam when he knows America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles just doesn’t sit right with me . I believe in the man that was on the middle cross . Have a blessed day
-
When did Jesus (Chapter and verse, please) ever justify war. The most violent he ever got was turning over tables in a marketplace set up on the Temple grounds. It has been 47 years since Iran has actively attacked the US until the US (along with Israel) bombed first. Even then, Jesus' message was to love your enemies and turn the other cheek. Read the justifications for war once again. The US has failed on six out of six items.
-
-
Irony is Speaker Mike Johnson schooling someone who taught St. Augustine's concept of "Just War" to Augustinian Seminarians about the concept of "Just War". It's OK for religion and politics to mix as long as the Political Leaders are Republicans and the Religious Leaders agree with them. Could you imagine if Pope Francis publicly spoke out against Joe Biden? All the Republicans (and a good chunk of Democrats and Independents) would have agreed with him and cheered him on. Speak out against their spray-bronze tanned idol and suddenly the Antichrist claims against the Pope once again surface.
-
Honestly, I don't give a fat rat's behind whether Pope Leo considers this a 'just war' or not. As the old Italian lady once said of the pope's ban on birth control: "You no play the game, you no make the rules." It's easy to make judgements when you have no skin in the game.
The theocratic regime in Iran has been evil, pretty much from Day 1. They have bankrolled myriad terrorist organisations, using them as proxies to avoid consequences of their actions. Lately they are using their Houthi proxies in Yemen to attack shipping in the Staits of Hormus and the Red Sea. Now they ar eattackign it directly, to the detriment of pretty much the rest of the world. They as massacring their own people when they dare to disagree with the regime.
As far as I am concerned the US is welcome to sink Iran's ships, destroy their air defence radar and control installations, and their missile launchers. They can bomb the regime's facilities every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. If Pope Leo doesn't like it, well so sad, too bad.
-
“delusion of omnipotence” This is one case where the pot can call the kettle black.
-
Stop the war, let's see those Epstein files.
-
They have released some, have you not noticed Whoopie Goldberg and George Clunatic have been very quiet since they were mentioned? I mean come on, Whoopie went from accusing Trump of sending the FBI to help with the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping to deflect from the files, to accusing him of starting a war with Iran to deflect from the Nancy Guthrie case, she has literally zipped her lip about the files since she was named
-
I noticed that Therese, they sure did beat their chest until they were on the Epstein list.
Wheird! Not so loud anymore for some reason huh?
-
That’s not true, SOJ. People on the left are calling for justice for everyone in the files. The right is protecting pedophiles.
-
Robert, why can't the left just. Just wake up?
So completely programmed. So totally mentally dominated. So terribly obvious.
Say it with me Ruhnke..... Why did Biden, Harris and Trump set on the files?
Do you think Biden protected Trump? Do you think Trump protected Biden? Who are they both protecting?
Please open your cell door and step outside with me. I won't bite I promise. Just open your own door, it's not locked.
-
Pot meet kettle, SoJ.
I addressed why the files were not released during Biden's presidency in my reply to LH, but I'll reiterate for you. Biden's DoJ was actively investigating to pursue charges, Trump's DoJ said there was nothing to pursue, refused to release the files until congress voted to mandate their release, and then slow-walked the release of files. To this day, there are still many files, some naming Trump, that have yet to be released.
Why can't you just wake up to reality?
-
SOJ that was a really weird projection you just laid down, bro. Why can’t the right realize they’re being used?
-
-
It’s what you want to believe isn’t it, even though Biden didn’t do anything to open any files at all. Were you squawking back then that Dems were protecting people? I’m just curious.
🦁❤️
-
The Biden administration didn't make the files public because they were actively investigating with the intent of pursuing charges. When Trump came into office, his DoJ declared there was nothing to pursue which is why congress voted to require the release of the files the DoJ had. You don't release evidence you're using to charge someone with a crime before you charge them.
Why has Trump's administration slow-walked the release of the files? Why were they so incompetent at redacting the names of victims as they were supposed to do? Why were some victims' names left unredacted while accused perpetrators' names were redacted? Why have they still not released all of the documents including dozens that mention or implicate Trump?
-
We might never know the answers to all of your questions. Your angst for the President will no doubt create many false narratives to satisfy your belief structure. Let’s hope as time moves on that more information will be forthcoming, if not with this administration, then with another one.
🦁❤️
-
-
Biden? Really, Kitten Butt? Lmfao. That’s your pompous gotcha? Friggin Biden. Lol. You try to be cute. I feel like Biden didn’t do enough to get the files out. Where was I? To the left, the actual left, not what passes for old school republicanisms which is our liberal of today. I was commenting about how blue imperialism vs red imperialism is the illusion the elite keep pushing on us. Biden and Trump are just different versions of Reagan and his corporate take over of the US. As every president since Reagan has been a figurehead who bows to corporate whims. Progress would be getting away from that base and implementing something akin to what Europe has. Governments who can keep their thumbs on top of corporations to keep them from exploiting everyone and everything to its breaking point. What I find strange is you’re one of exploiters biggest cheerleaders.
-
-
-
-
No, the COMPLETE, and unredacted files.

I'd like that too Matthew.
For some reason two presidents sat on the list. I'm assuming both administrations were editing their buddies and financiers from the list.

in addendum, Equal opportunity sign up for selective service needs to be added to the December 2026 plan for women to mandatory fill out the form readiness automation of the draft list. Since Congress past the law that women in military 2018. God bless women in combat for www 3. We are living in exciting times & futuristically other countries have strong forces because of women in the military.
-
Are you aware thst Hegseth wants to eliminate women from combat or leadership roles in our military?
-
Won't happen becuase Petey, our DOD/W Secretary has made it clear that he doesn't want to see wormen, gays, or transgenders in the military. The ones that are left are being demoted or pushed out.
-
Nothing more noble and wise than to send our wives and daughters to the slaughter.
How exciting indeed! I can imagine the future footage of bloody battlefields laced with female body parts! Yes! Yes! God bless equal rights and female cannon fodder!!!!
Hurray!!!! All together!!! Hurray for drafting chicks!!!!
Oohhhh!! Think of the wonderful experience our female POWs will have!!!! Hurray!!!
-
That you would refer to women as "chicks" speaks multitudes about your values.
-
Yea, im terrible for calling chicks chicks while drafting them is cool.
People tell me Its not cool to use that word anymore along with a bunch of other words I use.
Got sorry news for the tender little people, I choose my words wisely and I like the way that one sounds.
Drafting chicks is a moral low the morally low can't see.
-
Drafting dudes is a moral low just the same, then. Drafting unwilling participants into war started by their "leaders" is always immoral.
-
-
-
There's nothing noble or wise about sending our sons and fathers to the slaughter either. Why is it terrible if women are cannon fodder but when men are it's a sacrifice we're willing to make?
Also, you do realize that there are military roles that are non-combat roles that a woman can do just as well as any man, right?

Interesting article. Trump is right & there is no need to apologize. The pope Leo needs to pray for America & bless w wisdom discernment, strength & courage. Those global threats are real & documented in literature of wiping Israel off the map on10.28.2028 per foz friends of zion. A soldiers prayer is a must. For God's Blessing in battle. or norse like star wars the ride to Valhalla & the prayers creed. Pope Leo needs to add more verses to his doctrine, it is not peace time. the bible say wars %rumors of wars to the end of time. I loved hegths prayer tis great to see also the presidents prayer too. Keep on praying & fight the battle. Blessed be amen.
-
Perhaps Trump wants to be the AntiChrist?? The chosen one?
-
As usual, a Pope virtue signaling where that office has been responsible for genocides on 'heretics' since perhaps two seconds after Augustine brought forth the doctrine. ...by "manipulate(ing) religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth." (Quote from above statement by Leo).
I suppose it's 'never too late' to metanoia, but the previous Pope faulted Trump's wall, while ensconced in an utter Bunker of walls, extreme security and deep, dank secrecy, hiding key writings from early CE for its own gain. Hypocrisy is not lonely inside those walls.
Meantime, no, the war is being waged for all the wrong reasons cited by the Pope, so... when you're right, you're right. But it'd have a lot more clout if the hypocrisy and ironies weren't so ripe.
Viz religion, sometimes secularism is more moral and more spiritual, exactly because it forces people to know themselves, unless they make a 'religion" of their identity group or culture, which is just religion utterly without a soul.
Know thyself, the good, the bad and the ugly. REALLY know. Else the Trumps and Leos and Speaker Johnsons (ewww) and WEF will rule. And THAT is a spiritual crime: doing it AND letting them.
-
The Iranians begged for oppression like the woke here does and they got it. I'm fine with them stoning women for covering up their pretty hair, hanging gays from cranes and even chopping up their own unarmed protesters. That's what the liberal Iranians wanted. I'm very happy for them. It's a dream come true, it's the Iranian dream.
They can even blow up, blast out and chop down all their neighbors. They're all living the Islamic peaceful life. Let all the neighbors of Iran choke each other with blood soaked and slippery hands. Allah akanat or whatever. Super happy they're happy.
If they kill one American, just one. Level the entire region with zero care for anything at all. Don't even let their tears touch the earth before they evaporate. They have killed Americans though haven't they.
I'm upset that our President showed restraint. I'd have liked it if there wasn't anything left of Iran to talk about.
-
Fundamentalist Islamic theocracies are all conservative movements, not liberal ones. They adhere to outdated traditions and beliefs and restrict progressive movements. Liberal Iranians want the religious police disbanded and want equal rights for women in their society. The conservative fundamentalists are killing protestors for trying to make that happen.
How Christian of you to call for the genocide of an entire nation. "One of ours, all of yours" is the same mentality the Nazis had when someone attacked on of their soldiers. It's a fascist, authoritarian mentality that results in genocide.
-
Mike, have you even read the Old Testament. How brutal was God against other nations and even his own people? I make the kill count at over 25 million, not counting the Flood!
-
Great point, Richard. I guess genocide is a Christian ideal as well if God killed over 25 million and also flooded the world, killing everyone but those on the Arc.
-
-
It's also the same mentality that Israel uses against the Palestinians.
-
Only Israel versus Palestine hostilities are political, not religious, being fought over which country owns which territory, not which religion has the upper hand.
-
It is Brianna. Im surprised the Palestinians keep murdering Israelites but they do.
It's worse than someone shooting himself in the foot....it's taking aim to do it...
-
Israelis are not "Israelites".
Most Palestinians have more historical and genetic ties to the land in the Levant than the Zionist occupiers.
The Torah isn't a land deed.
Jews are not "God's Chosen People".
The ONLY way to the Father is through the Son: Jews who don't convert to Christianity are destined for Hell.
You are backing the wrong horse.
-
Since 2008, Israel has killed 7442 Palestinians and injured 165,496. In that same time, Palestinians have killed 378 Israelis and injured 6696.
https://www.ochaopt.org/data/casualties
If Palestinians are murderers, Israel is a mass murderer committing genocide. The far-right wing of Israelis want every single Palestinian man, woman, and child executed so they can take all of the Palestinian's land for their Zionist agenda.

Got to go with the President. And no, not just because I'm an Atheist either.

-
Trump has lost his mind calling the Pope weak look at the crime rate in the US shootings every day Etc considering Trump was a draft dodger 5 times he can talk One minute he's going to obliterate Iran next he's hoping for a ceasefire
-
The Bible says that the war/s in the Middle East will.not end until Jesus the Messiah comes back to end it. Until then Trumps posturing as a peacemaker is just that. Quite pathetic actually. As to the Pope, it is his job to speak out about what the Bible is telling us. I am not Catholic but recognize his authority nevertheless. Trump doesn't even know how to hold a Bible let alone understand any of it. Probably never tried to read one, either. We all need to ignore Trump's fantasies and get him out of office.
-
Who really cares what the Bible says? If you believe everything in the Bible, you obviously enjoy this piece of pathetic moral injustice from your God:
“Exodus
21: 20
When man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished.
21:21
But he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.”
What would you say if that was not in the Bible and you found that President Trump had said it?
🦁❤️
-
Those lines and sentiments are garbage regardless of who said them.
-
I totally agree with you. I’m amazed anyone believes anything in the Bible, but amazingly, they do.
🦁❤️

-
It's hysterical to me that far-right politicians who make their faith a cornerstone of their identity think that they know more about theology than the Pope, a man who lead the religious order of the man who wrote the "just war doctrine." Pope Leo is maybe the best person to speak about "just war doctrine" and yet here's the far-right MAGAts telling the expert they know more than him. All this to justify a war Trump started without any plan for finishing it, nor even a plan to wage it, it seems.
Why are we at war with Iran? Why is Trump threatening war crimes as a negotiation tactic? What is the end goal of this conflict?
-
Michael,
All great questions and I wish we would get an official answer from someone who really knows, because from the information we have been given, this was just a wild hair someone was trying to pluck that got out of hand. Our illustrious POTUS was so enamored at how easy it was to take out Maduro, the thought he'd set his sights a bit higher, but this time he underestimated his target in a BIG, or to use his words HUGE, way. Iran is no Venezuela.
-
-
Not Just At All.
-
I would have to agree, with a failure on six out of six requirements.
-
Iran pushing for nuclear weapons to destroy Israel and America unless they submit to islam and their garbage law, is indeed unjust.
-
What nuclear weapons do they have or are close to having?
-
And it’s the U.S., not Iran, ranting about destroying an entire civilization.
-
-
-
-
By Their own standards "war to be just, it must be: 1) Declared by a legitimate authority Fought for a just cause (typically defense against aggression). 2) Waged as a last resort after peaceful options are exhausted. 3) Inflict harm proportional to the good achieve Protect civilians. 4) Have a reasonable chance of success." Let's look closer Iran didn't exist until the revolution of 1979 the rightful rulers the King and his family direct blood descendants of Queen Esther of Hebrew Scriptures Ruled Persia. The United States of America provided asylum and a Promise to restore the rightful rulers to the throne of Persia. The group in charge of Iran declared War on the United States of America in 1979 and every 5 to 7 years since launch major attacks on the United States of America soil starting with taking hostage 250 American Citizens on a plane, killing 12 American Embassy personal and an attack on a British cruise ship in the Mediterranean. They provided Iranian citizens in the attack 1992 and 2001 on the world trade center. Subway bombing in Spain they claimed targeting Americans. Every Democrat president has tried to make peace and met with attacks. These is facts people wake up and smell the coffee. Iran has no intention of making peace and will continue to kill American Citizens until the psychopaths are removed. Plain and simple.
-
Iran existed long before 1979. What you're thinking of is the modern Islamic Republic of Iran, but the actual nation of Iran has existed for over 4000 years.
-
Persia, not Iran.
-
-
You failed to mention Israel and Iran were allies. And Israel considered Iran their most important ally.
-
-
Yes, the Pope, who is just merely another human being, like all of us, will continue to promote peace, as though everyone on earth will listen to him, even though he would possibly be the first one in the line of sight of fundamentalist Islamic revolutionary’s. In their eyes, if we don’t bow down to Allah, we are all infidels and need to be cast out and eradicated off the face of the earth to please their god.
Hopefully, he is thankful that USA has paved the way for peace to coexist world wide for quite a while no matter what religion, or not, people choose.
🦁❤️
-
Peace? PEACE? Your idea of peace is genocide. Wrong answer… as usual.
-
Ahem Paula, lionheart is talking about Islam committing genocide...
...this the part where you say something about Islam .....uh, committing genocide..err uh, jihad I mean...
-
Yo, soj. Israel is committing genocide. Please get a clue. They are not friends to us.
-
-
Do you find it very difficult when people disagree with you? Iran, and other fundamental Islamists were killing its own people by the thousands for merely wanting change and peace from Islam. If Iran had a nuclear weapon others could easily have been next due to their religious ideology. Even Hillary, Kamala, Obama, and Biden opined their concerns about Iran but never did anything about it, even though they said they would. So, yes, we now get to have peace now that the scourge of fundamental Islam has been abated, hopefully…….for the time being. I’m sorry you see things differently, possibly due to not being forced to live under a strict Islamic regime.
Hopefully, you will now find there is a financial war to keep Iran in check from being able to profit and rebuild its weaponry infrastructure. It’s early days so let’s see how that goes during the next 2 plus years. I doubt there are going to be many wars as quick as this one.

More anti-Islamic nonsense from the poorly educated. Islam does NOT preach that everyone must "bow down to Allah" because Allah is just the Islamic word for the SAME GOD that Christians and Jews worship. And in case you weren't aware, Muslims consider Jesus to be one of the major prophets and as such he is held in the same esteem as Mohammed. The VAST majority of Muslims do not follow the kind of extremist nonsense that ISIS and Al Qaeda pushes, and most Muslims consider them to be apostates. This isn't the fricking Crusades, for God's sake.
-
Brianna,
Allow me to educate you.
God forbids lying. Allah permits lying.
God has a name. Allah does not have a name.
Jesus is the son of God. Jesus is not the son of Allah.
Believing Jesus is The way covers your sins and lands you in heaven. Believing Jesus is The way will cause Allah to deliver you to hell.
There are many many more.
These don't sound like the same person do they? It looks like the two entities are in opposition like God and Satan are. Islam and Christians do not worship the same God.
Now that we've established that Islam, Christians and Jews don't worship the same entity we can look at Islam with a clear head, which Islam is fond of removing whenever possible.
-
SOJ, Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet for god, they do believe in him, or should I say, his message. You constantly demonstrate that you’re an ignorant buffoon with hollow talking points and gross prejudices.
-
As SOJ has declared elsewhere, he is a "baby Christian." Like most "baby Christians" his understanding is very superficial and dogmatic. Hopefully with time he will discover nuance, and grace.
-
-
-
Calm down! Calm down! It’s totally okay for you to have your own thoughts and beliefs about Islam. And it’s also totally OK for other people to have their own opinion, which might be different from yours.
🦁❤️
-
It's not okay to have hateful, incorrect opinions about Islam. You think it's okay for the Muslim extremists to have the opinion that the West must be colonized and destroyed for the Islamic faith? Of course you don't.
Not all opinions have value. The opinion that people of color are lesser humans that should be subjugated by the White population is not an opinion deserving of any respect or acceptance. Your opinion that all Muslims are violent extremists who believe we are all infidels and need to be cast out and eradicated off the face of the earth to please their god, your opinion is not worth respecting or giving any value to because the facts do not support your opinion.
You're welcome to have your own opinion but that doesn't make your opinion factual or acceptable in our society.

The regime of Iran needs to be finished. Done, obliterated, until then every man, women and child can live in fear. Sorry that civilians may get killed but that is casualties of war. The kill their own people all the time anyway. Pope is probably the antichrist anyway, that's what I've read.
-
Your argument has no merit. You’ve just given all the reasons why the war with Iran is unjustified and unjustifiable. You’re talking about GENOCIDE, and that is against everything Jesus taught. As for the Pope being the Antichrist, that’s too silly to even consider. I don’t know where you’re finding your information sources, but you might think about getting a more reliable ones.
-
Do you read any books? Then it tells you he is here a public figure and someone you would never believe. Along with these numbers that are mentioned in the Bible. Revalations needs to be explained to you. As for genocide, would you rather have Iran do it to us? They kill their own people on site. If we wouldn't have done to Hiroshima in WWII what language do you think you would be speaking today. US was at the brink of losing that war , if you read history books. Hope you like wearing scarves.

I’m a retired English professor. I’ve read more books in a year than you knew existed. Your logic is faulty, your usage is poor and your grasp of facts is limited. Best of luck trying to find truth in your chaotic universe .

So, you are extremely well read then Paula, and presumably, very knowledgeable. I feel way too inferior to reply but I’ll have a go, I’d love to know if any of those books were about the philosophy of love and compassion?
In all honesty though, I don’t think I have ever read a more arrogant reply to a members comment here. If you have learned anything at all from all those books you have read it seems you haven't learned anything at all about respect.
Anyway, best of luck in that universe you are in, wherever that is. I hope we can all one day achieve the lofty heights you have managed to reach in your magnificent professorship and reading all those books. It must be very wonderful for you looking down on us all from where you are at. We don't know what exactly would have happened if we hadn't bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki but to assume we'd all be speaking German or Japanese is quite the stretch. Still today there is a hot debate as to whether dropping the bombs were morally justified or not.

Such hatred. - You can't be a Christian as this is NOT what Jesus teaches.
-
But we can't let them take over with their ways,, can we? It's not hateful, it is for the saving of our world. They have things we aren't even aware of. Do you want them to nuke us 1st?
-
I thought we obliterated their nuclear program back in June?
-
Nukes only existed in Trump's "feeling" after Nettie planted them there. Our security agencies told Trump that there were no nukes in Iran.
-
-
On what basis do you assume that Iran intended to nuke us? I have seen no documentary evidence. As usual, Trump lies about Iran's intents. Besides, Trump said that he "obliterated" the Iranians nuclear program when he bombed them previously. Is he lying now or previously? Obama had negotiated a peaceful agreement to verify and limit Iran's ability to produce nuclear bombs. This disproves Trump's argument that Iran wants to nuke us. Trump ripped up Obama's agreement and started this War to achieve what Obama had achieved peacefully. This whole War was an unnecessary result of Trump's irrational hatred of anything a black President achieved. Now we have a War, which Trump promised to eschew, a blocked Strait of Hormuz, which was open, an international oil embargo, which could have been avoided, increasing inflation that Trump promised to eliminate, dead service members, a depleted arsenal of missiles, and most disturbing, now Iran can justifiably pursue its nuclear ambitions to protect itself from nut job rulers in the US and Israel. These negative outcomes are all a result of Trump's psychosis.

PKBW,
When you have free time, search out pictures of the popes throne room. It's quite satanic.

Your repeated nastiness on these posts is more satanic than anything I’ve run into in a long time.

Hardly so mutt cat. I'm merely keeping up with traffic here. Anything you find offensive from me will be found in you and those who attack me or my ideology.

I'm sorry that you don't have discernment Michael. I thought for a moment your link was a flowery fake image. It wasn't. It's the same satanic image the pope sets in front of. You just aren't able to recognize it. It might be because you've read the flowery and heart grabby language about what the image is. Without spiritual discernment it might be difficult to recognize it's source. Satan. It's quite plain to the eye.
Oh by the way, jesus never rose from a nuclear explosion. The fictional advocate sets in front of a fictional image that's dripping with ugliness.
-
I'm sorry that your bias has you blind to facts. You want to see a Satanic serpent in the sculpture so it's obviously Satanic in your mind. I look at the sculpture and cannot find anything suggesting a serpent in the design. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty creepy and peculiar and I'm not a fan of it, but the only thing Satanic about it is your desire for it to be Satanic.
It doesn't matter if Jesus never rose from a nuclear explosion, it's a piece of art meant to symbolize Christ's victory over the most extreme forms of death and destruction, inspired by the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima.
-
Michael, the serpent can be seen when looking at the satanic throne from afar. The satanic throne is a disgusting looking clump if death. If mirrored from the center you'll see Baal clear as day.
Sorry about that but it's in plain sight. Did you know only humans will ignore the obvious? Animals will not. Your biology teacher got it wrong. You're a human.
