Earlier this week, President Trump prompted mass outrage after sharing an AI-generated image on his Truth Social account seemingly depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
The image, shared by the president on Monday, depicts the president clad in white and red robes, healing a bedridden man by laying his glowing hands on him. The president is surrounded by a hospital worker, soldier, and praying woman, with glowing soldiers and fighter jets floating in the heavenly clouds behind him.
Now, despite deleting the image, the president is still trying to navigate the fallout from a post which left even some of his most ardent supporters disgusted.
“God Shall Not Be Mocked”
“Blasphemous” is how many, including prominent Trump supporters on social media, described the image. Even for many in Trump’s circle, the president depicting himself as a Christ-like figure seems to be a bridge too far.
A Doctor? Seriously?
Trump later tried to walk the post back, alleging that he believed the image showed him as a doctor - not as Jesus Christ. "I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do Red Cross," Trump said. "It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better."
Though he didn’t apologize for the image, the post’s removal was nevertheless a rare retreat for the otherwise pugnacious president. When asked why he took the post down, Trump stated “I didn’t want to have anybody be confused. People were confused.”
Still, few seemed to be buying the president’s story - and critics were quick to point out that doctors rarely wear biblical robes, nor do they primarily heal the sick with glowing hands.
Did This Go To His Head?
The post came shortly on the heels of an Easter weekend where President Trump’s spiritual advisor, the televangelist Paula White-Cain, drew direct comparisons between Trump and the savior of Christianity. “Jesus taught so many lessons through his death, burial and resurrection. He showed us great leadership, great transformation requires great sacrifice,” she said at an Easter luncheon, at times turning to address Trump directly. “And Mr President, no one has paid the price like you have paid the price. It almost cost you your life. You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our lord and savior showed us.”
What Happens Next?
The president seems keen to move on from the controversial post, but critics and supporters alike seem unlikely to let this one go. Even prominent conservatives are calling on the president to acknowledge he made a mistake and apologize, and videos even spread across social media of supporters burning their MAGA hats in protest.
Only time will tell what happens next, and how far the political fallout will extend.

The reason people cared a whole lot less about the images of Obama is because 1) he wasn't sharing them himself and 2) he was not masquerading as a Christian to win elections. A major part of Trump's base is conservative Christianity and what he has done by sharing this AI image depicting himself as Jesus is commit blasphemy. While I really don't care that he did, it's hypocritical for the Christian right to be defending his actions when they are directly against their faith.

Lets be honest with ourselves. We can truly only guess as to what Trump was really thinking, anything else... is it not the judgement of his heart? That said, one thing I find interesting, from a 'biblical perspective', is that there are numerous references in scripture to our image and likeness of God. Jesus talked about our Oneness with God. The verse 2 Cor. 3:18 says "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord". There is humility, which I think the president does not always display well, but there is also false humility/religion. Humility is: "Thinking of oneself less often not... less than". So if man was created in the image and likeness of God and we are instructed to see ourselves, as if in a mirror, the glory of God then maybe one could say the President sees something in himself that most church goers will not. I find it fascinating, yet sad, how offend-able we have become in this nation. Maybe we can just focus more on our own lives/faults and make a difference one person at a time? Maybe? Be well all.

I'd guess he's been in the U.S. paying attention to reality for the past year and a half of the current term and the past 4 years of the previous term. Same as a lot of Americans.
DJT started this war by choice. Based on lies of impending doom from nonexistent WMDs. It has accomplished nothing positive. The U.S. has gained nothing from it but lost a lot. In fact, it gave even more hardline leaders positions in their government. It put Iran in control of the Strait of Hormuz for the first time ever. We would literally be better off if we had done nothing at all. Had DJT not ripped up the JCPOA in his first term, we would be even better off.
Those are just the facts of reality. If ANY other president orchestrated the same fiasco, my opinion would be the same.
And if you want to be incensed about the treatment of Americans at the hands of armed terrorists who mistreat and even traffic innocent citizens, you can find plenty of that right here in the U.S. of A. Either way, a president constantly working until 2 AM isn't the flex you think it is. Thank you, Kev. I can assure you that although it might look to be a tad thick the reality is it’s the truth. Many here don’t want to think it is and will vehemently say it’s not true, such is their animus for President Trump. They paint him so badly that I really don’t know how they are going to cope when they have to try and backtrack their rhetorical comments in a few months time when they see how successful this conflict with Iran has been. They actually want him to fail so badly, which is really sad. They think I’m delusional, so lets just wait and see who really is.
My comments are at times very tongue-in-cheek just to try and add some humor, and there definitely is no intention to troll. Members are saying what they firmly believe to be true, and that’s ok. They have been misguided by the left leaning media but just can’t see that yet, but they eventually will, depending on how deeply they have been affected by the TDS virus which they firmly believe is not affecting their judgement.

Since starting the war with Iran, the regime has only become more authoritarian and violent against it's citizens. All I know is President Donald Trump pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández primarily asserting that Hernández had been "treated very harshly and unfairly" and was the victim of a "Biden setup" or "witch hunt".
Decisions of pardoning will always be a point of contention by the media, and will be spun whichever way the media wants to spin it.

My biggest disappointment is in the reactions to the comments. To insult someone because you disagree with them only serves to widen the division between us. If you lean right and someone says something you disagree with, it doesn't automatically make them 'woke', a 'liberal', or a 'leftist'. It means that they happen to disagree with you. Let's start there.
The same goes if you reverse the conversation. Not everyone who dislikes Joe Biden is a right-wing bigot, a fascist, or even a MAGA. They happen to not agree with his old policies or approach. Can we start here?
We need to find a way to disagree respectfully, with civility, with humanity. If we can't find that middle way, the divide will only get bigger, and eventually we will tear society apart. It's not about accepting intolerance or hate as a compromise. It's about solving the issue. We don't even need to compromise and have a little 'hate', we need to start discussion, debate, and critical thinking. To explore together, to rejoin society as one, and stop shouting at each other.
I have my views on the image. They've been repeated by others in earlier comments, so I won't stir the pot further. Instead, I'll request a different approach to those with whom we disagree.
Am I naive? Or am I hopeful, and I've not given up on humanity and decency?

I believe that everyone should have the right to love who they want. I believe that women should have the right to determine what happens to their body. Until Bibi dragged DJT to a special briefing where he pulled out the old power point that he used multiple times before in an attempt to get us to front his wars. He also might have had some incriminating files and photos provided by Jeffrey and Ghislaine (who both are tied to Israel and Mossad) to add incentives to the overall decision. But that's not confirmed.
What IS confirmed is Iran didn't capitulate. Even more hardliners are now in charge. Instead of the regular inspectors that Obama negotiated (and DJT stopped), Iran now says they will voluntarily report on their nuclear program as part of a new peace deal. They will maintain control of the Strait. And we owe them money.
Unless we or Israel break the ceasefire. Then all bets are off.

There are already thousands of displaced people suffering from hunger. Food banks in America are experiencing an increase in people trying to put food on their tables.
The U.S. is slowly experiencing a growing recession. We have so mistreated our former allies and trade partners that they are making strides in cutting us out of their economies as a matter of future security. The EU and Canada are turning to China to increase trade. The UAE is turning to BRICS for defense (since all our presence did was bring missiles and destruction). NATO has cancelled U.S. defense orders and are going with European defense contractors. The so-called fiscal conservatives have spent us into trillions of debt. Add on bail outs and vanity projects like a ballroom and a stupid arch no one outside of the WH wants. Our leader was even caught on video saying he has no time to deal with things like Medicare or Social Security. He has wars to fight!
We have lost trust and security we may never regain, no matter who next occupies the WH for the next dozen terms.
In short, a failing economy with no way to go up. Higher unemployment. Lower manufacturing numbers. A tourist/service industry severely damaged. Poor people faced with ever-rising prices. A stock market that is constantly touted but is completely disconnected from the real economy and propped up by the super wealthy with promises of what they might one day deliver.
It's a growing ball of black snow already rolling down the mountain.
And no one currently in charge with the actual power to do anything about it who cares one, tiny bit.
Call me crazy but I don't call that an interesting ride. I call that slow roll through a horror house.

I don't even know if that is even a thing unless they are in the lab area, making sure the blood donations are ok for distribution to hospitals. As dangerous as a gun without a safety latch. As dangerous as a car without car seats for children, or seatbelts, or brakes that work. Yes, a hammer can be dangerous if you hit someone over the head with it, but that is not its stated purpose. A car won't kill if everyone drives appropriately and the weather is always good, and they don't ever malfunction, but that doesn't happen either. Cars can drive over cliffs without guardrails, and that's how I see AI. It has no ethics, so anybody can do just about anything with it, including programming it for nefarious or self-serving functions. Anything can become a lethal weapon if not used properly. The image itself wasn't dangerous, but it shows how dangerous the system that created it could be in the wrong hands (which it aparently has been since we are seeing the image). It has gotten to the point that I don't trust about any image that I see any more, because of this and some of the other stuff that is out there.

Obviously, you can't relate one example to another. A car, gun, or hammer without safety guards and regulations can become a killing machine for human beings. So can images that incite hate, like a former president and first lady's head placed on an ape's body, can lead people to snap. Just suppose I put Trump's head on the body of a Jackass, I would probably get death threats. Images can be as deadly and provoke as much violence as inappropriate speech, which is why there are recourses for libel and penalties for terroristic threatening and purgery. I NEVER said that the image caused a death. I just made the point that AI in the wrong hands and without ethical guardrails can be dangerous.
If you want try asking AI how to bomb a building,, or where there are holes in building security. I'm sure that it would give you some answers. Just hope that when you do, that your computer isn't being monitored.

AI is dangerous, even if it's not directly used to kill someone, for a number of reasons. It can be used by propagandists to motivate people to violence. It can provide information that is factually inaccurate which may cause someone to harm another person. Then there's the environmental impact of the server farms required to power AI programs that will actively harm the well-being of residents nearby due to redirecting water from towns to server farms to keep servers cool and the incredible amount of energy required to run them.

This administration has provided zero proof that they even had uranium to enrich. If they no longer have a nuclear facility because it was obliterated as Trump claimed, how are they building nuclear weapons? I thought Iran was already set back around 2 years according to the Pentagon. Apparently that wasn't true if they're now claiming Iran is still actively building nuclear weapons.
Trump said this war would be over in two days. He said he would obliterate Iran if they didn't bend to his whims in the next few days, only for that deadline to be pushed further and further back. He said he would bring down prices of goods only to start a war that's driving prices way up and will continue to impact the economy long after this war is ended. Trump is nothing but bluster and he always chickens out.

A whataboutism is a rhetorical tactic where an accusation or difficult question is deflected by raising a counter-accusation or a different issue often to avoid accountability. Please show me where I have done that.
I'm well aware that BDS is not real, just like TDS is not real. It's used by supporters to dismiss critics, by suggesting opponents are blinded by hostility. TDS is used to deflect any legitimate criticism of Trump, silence dissent, and invalidate concerns about the way Trump behaves. If you're accusing someone of having TDS, you're only avoiding having to address any of the criticisms being made against Trump. Because LH likes claiming TDS so frequently, I came up with BDS to point out just how dumb of a defense it is.
I also agree we shouldn't have had 4 more years of Biden because he shouldn't have run in order to allow the Dems to actually have a primary. It's a major criticism I have of Biden and the Democrats. I would have gladly taken 4 more years of boring Biden than Trump's authoritarian aspirations.
Trump won more votes than any other candidate with just under 50% of the vote, which isn't a majority but a plurality, and only 65.3% of the voting age population voted in the election. It's absolutely impossible to say how the election might have changed had every registered voter or even age eligible voter participated but less than 50% of 65.3% of the voting population is not the majority of voters you're trying to claim.
What the results say to me, though, is that much of the US population was frustrated or upset with Biden running for a second term despite originally saying he wouldn't and the Dems then making Kamala the nominee. It also speaks to the power of conservative propaganda to paint the Biden economy as a failure despite the fact that our economy was recovering from the pandemic better than our economic peers.

Agreed. Which wars did Obama start? Bush sent us to the middle east based on the false belief that our adversaries there had WMDs, something we know decades later to be false. I know this is off topic from the article, but I am very much interested in finding out where our president is working for the American people. I mean that sincerely. Because all I can see is the exact opposite.
Unless, of course, you refer to the uppermost percentile of wealthy Americans. In which case, I can see that. But the rest are only seeing their lives and this country being shredded. Everything from the Constitution being ignored to rising prices, lower employment, inflation, degradation of everything from healthcare to food safety to consumer protections, to our very privacy.
Did he keep a single promise he campaigned on? He promised lower prices. They're soaring upward. He mentioned affordable housing. But housing is out of reach for a large segment of Americans and many are in the process of losing their homes. He promised to deport the very worst criminal immigrants. Instead, we got armed thugs engaged in illegal search and seizures while ignoring Constitutional due process to nab people. Many of whom have no criminal record at all, are American citizens, or in the legal process to become one. Deportation? Not even managing that. It's human trafficking. Or at least those who don't die in custody are trafficked to destinations where they cannot be found and are likely sold into slavery. Then there are the random shootings of citizens in the streets or in their homes. With zero legal consequences. We have the MOST corrupt, rogue government in the history of our nation.
Oh...and his promise of no new wars? Didn't keep that one. Couldn't even come up with an original excuse. He went with the tired threat of WMD. Which analysts knew did not exist. He simply repeated the lie he was told by Bibi. In fact, he now claims he wants what we had under the JCPOA (an agreement that was working and he unilaterally ripped up for no good reason, whatsoever).
Now he wants to fund the military for billions more and cut services to the American people. All while blowing up the federal debt by the trillions.

I think he's playing around with AI. This is an example of how dangerous it can be. AI has no ethics, but needs to get some programmed in to keep it from generating stuff like this. The update to my computer today had a tutorial on how to generate images just from giving it prompts. I have no doubt he has enough "sense" (if you can call it that) to get it to do this.

Stories about Jesus are in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and yes, I know that Acts is the second volume of the Gospel of Luke, but it tells the stories of the Apostles after the death and resurrection of Jesus. Nobody ever died in a Gospel account simply by lying to Jesus. That wasn't Jesus' MO. I am a veteran with considerable operational experience. This is another forever war. The battles can all be won, but the war will not be, anymore than Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a foolish undertaking that Mr Trump was warned away from, but now, we are stuck. The options are to declare victory and come home, having actually lost. Before the war, Iran was a virulent theocracy, but trade through the Strait of Hormuz was unrestricted. Now, Iran is a virulent theocracy, and world trade is restricted. This adventure is open-ended. The only way to win it, is to invade and defeat the theocracy in detail. This will require a coalition effort and considerable resources. Even then, it could take many years of occupation to achieve an outcome. Unfortunately, Mr Trump has alienated our usual allies with tariffs, an invasion threat against Greenland, and constant criticism. He also failed to consult before undertaking this operation. I think that the coalition will come around, because, Mr Trump clearly can't fix the problem, and he needs help.

Thank you for your service, Sir. I honestly believe this war will be different from many others. Technology is way more advanced, evidenced by drones, satellite imagery, and ordnance.
It’s my understanding China aided Iran with satellite imagery, and even possible armaments, but I think they have now seen the writing on the wall regarding Islamic ideology. They have now started to dismantle Mosques. Very soon, if not already, Iran will have very little support, and I think they now know it. I will be amazed if this war continues for very much longer. I suspect there will be an internal uprising by the citizens who could eventually oust IRGC members. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Why is our government acting as judge, jury, and executioner? What I have against ICE Is that they're killing people, terrorizing immigrant communities as they racially profile people and accuse them of being in the country illegally, abusing and killing people in detention facilities, acting belligerently and attacking peaceful protestors (I've seen it with my own eyes so don't tell me these aren't peaceful protests that ICE is attacking).
I do have an issue with our policing system in the US currently as it prioritizes incarceration over rehabilitation, has a long documented history of racist policies, protects violent and dangerous officers from consequences, and perpetuates a tiered justice system where the poor and people of color regularly receive harsher punishments than the right white men who commit the same crimes. This doesn't mean I hate the police (my uncle is a retired chief of police), but I do hate some of the actions taken by police and their unwillingness to accept any reforms while becoming further militarized.
I'm very confused why you ask if I'm a nihilist and why that comes into this conversation at all so hopefully you can explain that thinking to me better than you can answer the questions I've presented.
Our country was not "invaded" by undocumented immigrants as conservatives love to claim. The unauthorized immigrant population living in the US went up an estimated 3.5 million between 2021 and 2023, largely motivated by the pandemic as immigrants tried to seek refuge in the US from the spread of the virus, which would be about 1% of the population. That's by no means an invasion, nor are the overwhelming majority of people trying to come here violent criminals looking to harm people in America. The record number of undocumented immigrants doesn't explain why there are more deaths, although the increase of detentions does provide part of the story. The other part is the horrendous conditions detainees are being subjected to (including US citizens being wrongfully detained) as well as the violence being perpetuated against detainees by ICE officers. Two plus two does equal four just as increased detentions in poorly run facilities plus violence directed towards detainees equals a record number of deaths in ICE custody.

Again, I don't understand why you assume I hate America or our form of government just because I'm critical of it. That's one of the things I love the most about America: the ability to be critical of your government without fear of government reprisal. I like how diverse and unique our country is and that we are a country of immigrants from across the diaspora. I'm sorry, but I will never agree. The Iran operation was a mistake. We planned to go to Iraq and Afghanistan with international support and in response to actual threats. This time, it's a war of choice, and sadly, it's not going well. Frankly, it was never going to go that well. Iran is not Venezuela, the theocracy is in firm control and has repressed all opposition for over half a century. It will not fold overnight. Geography is on Iran's side. They can block the Strait of Hormuz for as long as they like. Prior to the war, up to 150 ships transited daily. Yesterday, with the US blockade in place, 4 made it. The world economy will take a big hit, perhaps even a depression. I hope that somehow, it will go well, or that the theocracy falls, but I would not hold my breath waiting.

It’s definitely going to be very interesting over these next few weeks, and hopefully not months. If we can provide safe passage through the straits for all marine transport not going to Iran it will be a major coup for this administration. Shipping will be free of paying Iran its toll fees, which will be a major boost for the shipping companies. Let’s see how this plays out and hope for the best for everyone. Who on the left? I hope it works out great, I just have major reservations that it will.
In the meantime, the war is negatively impacting the global economy and things aren't going to go back to normal if the war ends today. If fertilizer isn't able to be shipped through the straight, we're gonna have a global food crisis when there isn't enough nutrients in the soil to boost crop yields.
Hopefully the conflict can be ended as soon as possible and with the best possible outcomes for the world. I have serious concerns about the long-term impact of this war of choice, though.

They of course see others that don’t want to follow their ideology as being blind. The proof of the pudding is of course in the eating. We had four years of eating Biden’s pudding and the results were extremely poor, hence the majority of the electorate deciding to try a different pudding. Let’s now see how this administration performs before overly criticizing it.
The UK and much of Europe are struggling due to similar very stupid liberal ideologies that was espoused here in the US. They are now starting to rebel, and rightly so. Londonistan in England is majorly struggling. Keir Starmer is ruining what used to be an incredible place to live. MEGA is starting to rise up, as is Ireland (MIGA). I still remain confident we can turn things around here to have a peaceful living where one could go out at night without fear of being mugged, robbed, or abused. I firmly believe that if we can get back to a moral living here, we can be a shining light for the rest of the civilized world to encourage them to do the same.

I don't know what was wrong with him 10 years ago, but his bestie Epstein noticed symptoms of dementia before he went to prison the second time and mentioned it in an email addressed to a mutual friend. It's on the Congressional record.
My grandmother was by best friend. I was fortunate enough to be able keep the promise I made when I was 15: I moved in with her when she needed help to maintain her independence due to several rough falls. We had the time of our lives, we made sure we said and did the things we wanted to say and do with one another, and then she started changing... I was with her 24/7 from onset until the woman who raised me no longer existed. Her kindness was there unless she was sundowning, but I mourned her loss before her body caught up.
Donald has dementia, I spotted it when he was on the campaign trail. The night he had a sundowning episode on the roof of the White House was icing on the cake, and none of the nonsense happening right now is anywhere close to normal, even for a disgusting nonce who is as antichrist as one can be.

My authority on journalism is spending over a decade in the industry. I've been taught about journalistic ethics and integrity as well as how to identify reliable sources from unreliable propaganda outlets. What is your authority on the subject to question mine?
I don't think you even understand the difference between communism and socialism well enough to tell if I was repeating "Communists/Socialist talking points" but maybe you can prove me wrong and point out specifically which "Communists/Socialist talking points" I'm repeating.
As far as my taxes go, last year I owed $24 come tax time so I increased my withholding amount by $100 a month to ensure I'd get a refund. My taxable income increased by about $6500 from 2024 to 2025 and I owed over $400 in taxes this year. So, the $1200 increase in my withholding plus the extra $400+ means it went up by about $1600. That's around a month of rent for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment where I live. Yet billionaires living lavish lifestyles are receiving tax cuts? How does that make any sense at all?
