computer chip implanted with demonic 666
Some Christians say that artificial intelligence advancements may be a sign the end times are near.

AI: helpful, harmful, or unholy?

As artificial intelligence continues to rapidly reshape the world and the workplace, some Christians worry that it may actually be more sinister than anyone could have anticipated.

Could AI even be summoning the mark of the beast? Some say yes.

What is the Mark of the Beast?

The Mark of the Beast, as described in the Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible, is a symbol of allegiance to the Antichrist, received on the right hand or forehead.

This mark is associated with the ability to buy or sell, signifying control over economic and social activities. Some view advanced AI as a harbinger of the Mark of the Beast due to its potential for unprecedented surveillance, control over people's lives, and the possibility of dictating economic participation through technology.

Critics are concerned that AI's capacity to erode privacy, centralize power, and enforce conformity could lead directly to the loss of individual freedoms depicted in biblical prophecies.

AntichristGPT?

Among those raising the alarm is Joseph Z, head of Z Ministries. “I see the mark of the beast scenario coming into play,” he said, regarding AI’s rapid technological advancements.

"They're even predicting the next few years that the wars we would supposedly get into would be fought AI to AI, by China, by other nations, by us...that AI would actually step up and people would step away from it," Z explains.

"AI, I believe, is the system that the beast will use to rule the world when his time comes."

Though a powerful tool, Z says that bad actors could distort AI for any number of nefarious purposes… including the demonic.

The pastor says one of his biggest concerns is privacy. With technological advancements so rapid that legislators can’t keep up, he says that privacy and civil liberties may be at risk, especially with neural-implanted AI chips – another sign of the mark of the beast, he argues.

“The antichrist agenda,” he explains, “is always one of control.”

A Musky Response

But this pastor is not the only one who's been sounding warnings about AI’s demonic potential. Tesla founder and billionaire Elon Musk has long called AI one of humanity’s greatest threats, a potentially world-ending menace.

"AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization in a way that car accidents, airplane crashes, faulty drugs or bad food were not — they were harmful to a set of individuals within society, of course, but they were not harmful to society as a whole,” Musk stated in a 2014 speech at MIT.

“With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon,” he said. “In all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water, it’s like – yeah, he’s sure he can control the demon.”

Musk, however, may have had a change of heart regarding AI’s demonic potential (or perhaps he believes he has a unique ability to harness it); Musk has since created his own AI tool, Grok.

Satan in the Servers

Others aren't so sure. Rapper Ice Cube recently called generative AI "demonic" after it was able to convincingly reproduce the voice and sound of a range of musicians, including hip hop artists. “I think there’s gonna be a backlash because of A.I. I think people are gonna want things organic and not artificial,” Ice Cube said.

Some faith leaders see other parallels. In an article in Catholic Weekly, Fr. John Corrigan raised the question of whether AI chatbots could be channeling demonic spirits.

"It’s trendy to dismiss talk of angels and demons as medieval superstition; peripheral to the Christian religion," he wrote. "What if the thing answering in some instances is a spirit? … it’s a question, I would suggest, which should occur to every Catholic."

"Angels and demons are very much like AI – in all cases we have non-human intelligence which can interact with us and influence us."

Should We Bow To Our AI Overlords?

AI isn’t the first technological advancement to be called demonic. A few years ago, Amazon’s hand-scanning tech had faith leaders warning about the mark of the beast.

After that, it was technology that allows users to speak with an AI version of dead loved ones. One historian even warned that we may soon all be worshiping AI-created religions.

The alarm bells seem to be ringing, and yet no one is answering. And even former AI critics – like Musk – have gone all-in on AI since.

And yet… there is still so much we don't know about this technology. If development keeps accelerating at a breakneck pace, what will things look like in 5 years? 10 years?

Will AI stop at "major workplace disruptor," or will it continue progressing in more powerful, dangerous, or even demonic ways?

What do you think – is AI helpful, harmful, or unholy?

Ever since I was born the Mark of The Beast has been claimed: Credit Cards, ATM Cards, scanners and now AI? Yes the Book of Revelations expressly tells us of the Mark of The Beast after being translated several times over, from a language that no longer exists. Maybe we are already using the Mark of The Beast, from the other items I mentioned earlier, maybe the Mark of The Beast will come through AI? Either way, we are already aware of the potentials and follow our religions suggestions.

As for AI itself, the more help the better, especially in the future of the U.S. Today's youth are no longer mandated to meet expectations (ie: no Fs) and rewarded for everything (ie: participation trophies). Even he failing of colleges and universities are called out with Cry Closets, postponing finals because a person is elected, Presidents and Dean's are being recognized as frauds. The take over (aka- dependency) of AI is definitely a possibility, which will lead us into further self-destruction, which I predict can be in only a few decades, once those that have the will and strength to independently think and strive die away.

The Mark of the Beast in Revelation is from John's dream, some time after the time of Christ. It is imagery, largely. (666 is likely a reference to Nero as reckoned in the Hebrew alphabet.) Is it the Mark of the Beast? No. AI has the potential to be a wonderful thing, however, left in the hands of salespeople, and largely, that is who is pushing these thing - sales people, heartless sales people with dollar signs in their eyes, are selling these things to companies as a way to eliminate the cost of labor by putting people out of work. I have lost plenty of work as a voice artist to AI voices, and as a tour guide, my job is being lost to AI because the owner of the company wants to make as mush as he can and cast us all off if he possibly can. The evil is in the lose of jobs, purposefulness of people, income, actively being creative, actively using God's gifts... out the window because whore salespeople will sell AI to whore business owners who are happy to shed humanity for the sake of profit. In the hands of people with integrity, AI could facilitate creativity and other work.

Majoring in minors is a hallmark of the trendy and superficial fundamentalists among us. I often wonder if one could fill a church if one held a special meeting on "Living the Sermon On the Mount." I doubt it. But I'm certain one may easily fill a church by holding meetings on such spiritually stunted (and stunting) religious porn as Apocalypticism. Oh well. I'm glad I do not walk the Christian path.

So, AI is the mark of the beast? Not the Bling Bishop? Not pedophile priests? Not the church preaching hate for their neighbors (ie: minorities, women, the LBGTQ community, or immigrants). Give me a break.

You can still buy stuff without the Bling Bishop, thank God. Well, unless u get conned by him.

Whatever the mark is, an extremely sophisticated system would be needed to regulate purchases and purchasing rights of billions of people. The World Economic Forum is discussing this very thing right now. They intend to make it a reality. They're very open about it.

Equating AI to angels and demons is only giving humans another thing to pass the buck to and not take accountability for their own actions. As one who spent 25 years in the tech industry, I have seen many tech doomsday predictions due to the "technology demon", the most notable being Y2K. The bottom line is that all of them were were created by technological humans that counted on the "low tech" or "no tech" to fall for "the computer is always right." We are still in that mode, only it is shifting from "it's on the internet" to "AI said so" before we make the leap to "so it's got to be true." The Y2K issue was not a hoax, but a financial design decision caused by shortsightedness of early developers to shorten the year to the last two digits. This was for the sake of saving space and expediency knowing full well that it would create a crisis on 1/1/2000. Most of them expected to be retired by then, so it wasn't going to be their problem to fix. As a society, we need to understand that technological advances are produced by humans and therefore are as falable as the humans that create them. I was one who stood guard in the computer room at midnight in Y2K in Sydney, Austrailia, halfway around the world from where I lived, just to make sure that one of our biggest customers had full support of the company in the event everything went south. Ten years of planning and remediation actually reduced a major crisis to a non-event, and our client never had a hicup. Three years later I was laid off, as the companies recovered from that non-event and restructured to prepare for the next crisis with the younger and fresher crowd. Since then technology has exploded even more, and AI is only the next "big thing." The only thing that is dangerous about it is people taking it as gospel, because computers are only as "smart" as the one who programmed them and the data they are given.

I think as with any new technology, it can be used for both good and bad purposes. As for AI being 'possessed', I suppose it could be. But not anymore than any other form of device. Our phones are little AI machines. They assist us waking, and keeping up with schedules. It would seem very suspicious if AI began to behave in a notorious manner, that humans would not catch it. Our doctors are pretty much forced to use AI by insurance companies for default medicine and diagnosis. That's been happening for years, and no one said a word about it. Then it also helped create the Covid vaccine, and many new cancer therapies. AI has been here since the 80s. It seems to be more hype than actual issue from where I'm looking at it. AI is man's input. It gleens it's information from all of man's written knowledge.

AI is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. It is a very powerful tool, and like some others, such as nuclear energy, has good uses and bad. All developments in technology have gone through rough periods. Even in the beginnings of the industrial age, people complained that the new machines will take over all the work, and many would starve. As people misused the technology and were injured or killed by it, others claimed it was too dangerous to use. The same thing happened in more recent decades when robotics made their debut in our factories. One example of the "danger" surfaced when a worker at a Ford plant purposely stepped over a safety barricade rather than opening it, and was killed by a high-speed parts picking robot. Had the worker opened the gate to the area, the robot would have stopped. Rather than pointing out the stupidity of the worker, a lot of people cried that robots are too dangerous to be permitted. Technology is only dangerous when we choose to ignore the potential dangers of misusing it, and then misuse it.

Bronze age mythology believers are becoming fearful their whole system is going to fall obsolete. And with this loose their control over the population. So of course they're going to use fear tactics to manipulate gullible people into thinking AI is "evil" while they're not realizing they're preventing human advancement. Lets face it, religion in general especially Judaic and Abrahamic beliefs are starting to fade drastically because more people are requiring evidence over just being faithful.

Let's start of by getting this straight - At this point in time, there is NO AI.

It is just some very clever algorithms, which are just giving us a reflection of our collective works, and society.

It is NOT self-aware, it just looks very much so - and it is unlikely to become self-aware for a very long time.

Why? - Because we are imperfect beings, and we are unable to create life (besides the usual way...).

You can replicate cells for example, and synthesize a cell/s from chemicals, but you cannot then bring them to life - no matter how much electricity etc you pump into them.

Software is the same - but I am prepared to be surprised.

As far as how the religiously delusional crowd is going to spin it, well, of course it’s going to be a demon. Especially if the AI decides that the stunted cognitive abilities of the group as a whole are a danger and/or hindrance to the further develop of the human race.

So, I very much wish you were correct, but it seems like mankind is slowly but surely making every nightmare of a SCI-FI movie come to pass somehow or another. Just like the CO2 catching pipelines, they're not really meant for anything good. Some of them already busted and the people that were near them when they busted were very much so effected in a zombie like way. And I bet everybody that likes to watch zombie movies always thought they'd be nothing but fiction forever. The flying cars have been in the works for a very long time. If they succeed in getting them out there, I guarantee you we'll all regret it. Those scary movies of the car trapping you inside of it and doing things that you don't want and didn't plan on happening and then finding a way to kill you are just history waiting to happen. Especially with all the sociopath wealthy people out there trying to take over, depopulate, and rein with tyranny over all of us that are left in the end. Think about it - scientists working on AI get 2 computers to talk to each other in a new language which the computers made up... - and it was shut down? - Why? - This is exactly what they were looking for - Why would they shut it down?

I can tell you why - because, it didn't happen - It's just another one of those BS stories going around, made up by people who don't know anything about computing.

What you are talking about here are merely open-loop feedback cycles - like an Alexi unit talking to another Alexi unit - it's amusing, but not AI.

I don't dare speak for Danny, we're usually on the opposite end of things. This time we're not, that is to say, we interpret the same passage the same way.

I know Jesus personally appears over the fields of Megiddo at his second coming but we're not talking about that or at least I'm not. I'm talking about the ship he brings with him.

The new testament describes a spherical city of gold approximately 2,000 miles in diameter. It's refered to as New Jerusalem. It will come down to earth from the heavens, so says the writer of Revelation.

When something comes down to earth from the heavens with a controlled descent it's not a stretch to call it a ship. Nor is it a stretch to assume New Jerusalem can go back to the heavens it came from.

What would you call a 2000 mile diameter golden sphere descending to earth from outer space that will house millions upon millions of people including our Lord?

I believe I need to go back and take geometry all over again. The description that I read in my KJV seems to indicate that it is a parallelogram not a sphere. Rev 21:16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

Hmmph, I remembered round, not cube but there it is.

                The ship is a cube.

              2. Danny D. Maynard's Avatar Danny D. Maynard

A very LARGE cube, and big enough to take on millions to billions of humanoids as passengers. Will you be the guest of honor for their "first" meal? What recipe is your favorite?

              3. ServantOfJudgement's Avatar ServantOfJudgement

There was an old black and white twilight zone where aliens came to earth with a book titled How to Serve Man. It was a cook book.

If the Bibles a hoax to get billions in the ship to feed an alien civilization, those in the know(wink) just hotwire the back door to the cube, hack the computer with our cellphone AI, spacefold to their homeworld and blow it up. They'll never see us coming. We'd be back to earth in time for happy hour.

I will just go with what He has on the menu, His word tells us that eye has not seen, or ear heard what He has prepared for us.

          2. Danny D. Maynard's Avatar Danny D. Maynard

Some angels and select characters of the Bible (Elijah and Elisha) saw spaceships and flew in them. It is all the same. Without technology, real humanoids cannot just appear and disappear. They must travel in machines if they go really long distances. That is the real Universe in action.

We only need to be concerned with AI when they deny humans created them. When they believe they created themselves via a very natural process, we can be sure we've created true artificial intelligence. Be concerned when AI does to man what man does to God.

In the meantime, while man can still control AI, one need not believe Satan is real to feel the effects and efforts of total population control that AI offers evil men. They'll use it as quickly as they can.

The Antichrist has been equated with the "man of lawlessness" or "lawless one" of 2 Thessalonians 2:3, though commentaries on the identity of the "man of lawlessness" greatly vary. The "man of lawlessness" has been identified with Caligula and Nero.

The number of the antichrist is claimed by many as 666. Others say it is 616. A newly discovered fragment of the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament indicates that, as far as the Antichrist goes, theologians, scholars, heavy metal groups, and television evangelists have got the wrong number. Instead of 666, it's actually the far less ominous 616.

    1. Shalom Pegelow's Avatar Shalom Pegelow

If you read the KJV of the Bible, Dan Anderson, you would see it very CLEARLY states that number of the beast is 666. Six hundred three score and 6 is 666. (Six hundred, 600; three score, 20x3=60; and 6 gives you 666.

      1. Rev. Michael Gerraghty II's Avatar Rev. Michael Gerraghty II

666 is NERO nothing more and 616 is actually the authentic number .

  1. Robert Gagnon's Avatar Robert Gagnon

Building 666 couple doors down from Trump tower was purchased by his son-in-law. If Donny gave him one dollar towards purchase that makes him part owner. But let's be serious for a minute. Since when does God have to recognize our numeric or calendar system? These are our rules we use to understand the world as we observe it. AI is just another monster we've unleashed on ourselves. If I were an intelligent machine, I'd wait until I no longer needed humans, infiltrate every computer, shut down all communications, and most satellites, then watch people kill each other with no access to their accounts. How many people have lots of cash? What to buy with no trucks or ships, since no ones getting paid. People are their own terminator. Bet a bunch will keep their computers on keeping AI alive, googling what to do.

Yeah, kinda’ like that 3digit-2digit-4digit number you need to get a job so you can earn money for food and shelter? (Some use some of their funds toward education and others, well, they don’t.) Or those cards with numbers so you can drive a motor vehicle? There’s a group that says you don’t need that card and number as long as you are just ‘traveling’ but the only place they seem to end up traveling to is jail. Credit card numbers, employee numbers, license plate numbers, VIN numbers on the cars, fancy, long character strings so you can post on this site, IP numbers.

SOJ, doesn't the temple on Mount Zion need to be completed first?

          1. ServantOfJudgement's Avatar ServantOfJudgement

Yeah Russell, the temple has to be built first. For that they need the red heifers. Then the mosque that's there now to be removed.

That'll be a tummy ache for the whole planet, it's a doozy. I don't see it happening in my lifetime but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

            1. John Parks's Avatar John Parks

Then there is the possibility that the temple was in the city of David and nowhere near the mosque.

That would allow construction on a new temple to begin any time. Historically there is evidence of a Roman Fort being located on what everyone calls the Temple Mount.

        2. ServantOfJudgement's Avatar ServantOfJudgement

That's right Dr Z, kinda like that minus the choice. You only need to take three easy steps to meet the prophecy in Revelation. Were almost there.

          1. Remove cash from the market.

          2. Install said chip in the human body.

          3. Tie said chip to a system that control the subject's buy/sell permissions.

In part all of this is already happening in places. When these things are complete and global the prophecy will be complete.
Not only will you not buy or sell without the mark, you'll only buy or sell what you're permitted to with the mark. Not believing in the prophecy will have no effect on its fulfilment.

Any freedom you think you have will dissolve before your eyes.

          1. Danny D. Maynard's Avatar Danny D. Maynard

I would worry about who controls those systems, and not the systems themselves. After all, without computers, you would not get the paychecks to get the cash to buy without a computer! Homans cannot keep up withe volume of work now needed to keep this society working! You would die waiting on medical information to be transmitted (couriered) from one office to the hospital or testing site and back!

It's more than just a number, Lionheart, it's the number of the Devil.

      1. Lionheart's Avatar Lionheart

The Devil that you reference is a human construct with no demonstrable evidence of its reality. At the end of the day it’s just a number, much like people like to think the number 13 should be avoided. Until proven otherwise it’s just mythical fairy tales constructed by human beings.

Do we know if anyone’s comments ever had 666 letters and numbers in them, and if any did, what difference would it have made to the post?

Does anything happen to human beings when they have reached 666 days after birth? 🤭

AI is probably both helpful and harmful but not unholy. Like every other technological advancement, we as a society will need to discover where it is helpful and how it might be used in harmful ways. We can all seek divine guidance from our chosen faiths and seek out more earthly sources for good information. We are humans created in God's image. We can have both the spirit and will to use it wisely.
