LGBT sex ed in schools

California parents were outraged to learn they were barred from pulling their kids out of a robust new sex-ed course that some found objectionable. They’re accusing the school district of trying to use the “LGBT agenda” and ideas of social justice to “indoctrinate” their children.

A California school district recently announced that its robust new sex education course would be mandatory for all high school students. But when parents who objected to the material tried to pull their children from the course, they were told that a 2015 California law prohibits them from doing so. The law stipulates that all students must undergo classes that instill “healthy attitudes” on “gender and sexual orientation” and other topics related to sex.

“What happened to parental rights?” they asked.

Orange County school district officials explained that disagreeing with course material isn’t reason enough to keep their children away from class. “Parents do not have a constitutional right to excuse their children from portions of the school curriculum that they find objectionable,” explained an attorney representing the district.

Groups are now organizing to fight the decision. Not only does the school district have a warped view of what “healthy attitudes” toward sex are, the parents say, but these ideas are now being forced on children against their will.

What’s So Controversial?

The designated teaching materials for the course include a “sexual health tool kit” that’s intended to address teen sexual activity and promote safe sex. But certain sections have made parents extremely uneasy. For example, the guide defines “anal intercourse,” and “phone sex” as “common sexual behaviors” – a notion that many religious and conservative-leaning families object to.

The guide also provides advice on how to use sex toys and anal lubricant. One of the more heavily-criticized passages reads: “What if you don’t have time or money to buy sex toys? Cucumbers, carrots, and bananas (with the peel) make great dildos. Just remember to use a condom!”

Cucumber sex toy advice

Parent groups say this kind of instruction goes way beyond the scope of traditional sex ed and promotes the “sexualization of children” – an outcome that’s neither admirable nor desirable. They insist that to avoid flooding young minds with perverse ideas, sex education should occur in the home, not in the classroom.

Kids Have to Learn Somewhere

However, sex-ed proponents insist that such courses are necessary to help teens understand important realities about sex – stuff they’re unlikely to learn at home.

Furthermore, while the ultimate goal is to improve teen sexual health, advocates say this can’t be done successfully if significant minority groups – such as LGBT teens – aren’t offered accurate information as well. The California course material includes lessons intended to promote safe-sex activity among both straight and LGBT individuals.

Further, per the 2015 law, California teachers must recognize all sexual orientations, take a positive view toward transgender identity, and provide thorough explanation of the harmful effects brought on by “negative gender stereotypes.”

“LGBT Indoctrination”

As one might expect, these stipulations have led some parents to complain about the “LGBT agenda” being used to “indoctrinate” their children. One particularly angry parent with a large Facebook following took to the social media platform to express her outrage and push back against the initiative:

Angry California parent opposed to sex ed

In general, religious and conservative groups argue that kids are being taught a skewed view of the world which emphasizes social justice and downplays biological facts. When these ideas are taken too far, it can have negative effects on society. They point to cases of young children seeking given hormone therapy to switch genders, or parents attempting to raise kids entirely “gender neutral” as notable examples.

Drawing a Line

Parents insist the government is exploiting its power to spread progressive views on sex and identity, filling the minds of young people with troublesome information. They’re demanding the right to pull their children out of these so-called “radical” sex-ed classes.

The question here reaches beyond whether or not kids should be taught sexual education in school. Rather, the main focus appears to be finding a line between useful educational material that helps inform naive students about sexual health, and unnecessary or excessive information that might promote sexual deviancy.

And moreover, who gets to draw that line? Should parents be given more control, or is it okay to leave this matter up to the schools?

They have the right to put their kids in private schools if they like….otherwise suck it up buttercup!!

    1. bob says:

Shouse: You’re missing the point here. Because parents are directly financing public education through taxes, etc., they should have a voice in their investment. State, Federal and Local education departments are supposedly the parents’/taxpayers’ representatives. But often, the parents’ desires are ignored, overrun and minimized. For many parents, private school are not a financially viable option.
And, students do not NEED to be exposed to the abominable, abnormal sexual practices of the LGBT? and other disgusting sexual deviant activities.

      1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

so Bob you are extremely homophobic if I gather right. So your opinion is about as valid as it comes.

        1. Mona says:

I’m not homophobic and I find it extremely disturbing that the school district wants to teach children about anal sex and using phallic shaped fruits and vegetables as dildos. Are they going to teach about Gay man’s bowel syndrome and the life expectancy of gay men due to it? There are micro tears that occur that can send fecal matter into the blood stream. Not all male homosexuals practice anal sex on a regular basis. Straight teachers shouldn’t teach openly gay and transgendered children about their sexuality. It is uniquely different. I would pull my child out. Sex is a sacred and powerful act that we as a society have destroyed. We have reduced sex to the most base and destructive aspect of its energy and purpose. Browsing the supermarket for the perfect dildo instead of nutrition and finding healthy foods to nourish your body???

You sound like people in the 60’s who said they weren’t racist, but they didnt want people of color near their schools. Today’s parents have no idea how to teach sex to their kids because no one ever taught them. They only know what they scraped off the streets.. which is where kids are learning now. The worse kids in school are usually preachers or strong right wingers kids. They are the first to get pregnant, the first to have abortions and quite frequently, the first in trouble with the law. People like Bob and you are the reasons that younger people are leaving churches in droves.

          2. Carl Elfstrom says:

And what about hamsters on a string. Are they addressing that ?

          3. David says:

Mona, who says it is only straight teachers who are the educators for this class. It is important to understand what could happen if the sex is performed wrong. You also only write about men and anal sex. Many women find pleasure in it and enjoy it. Since, according to you nothing happens to them, only Gay men, it is okay for them to enjoy it.

          4. John Owens says:

And Mona, you know these Miserábles are just pissing and moaning to try to get us to be quiet so they can have there sad way. Keep talking, PLEASE.

          5. John Owens says:

Vegetables are supposed to make us GO, not COME.

          6. John Owens says:

Carl, hamsters on a string? Really? I thought that was just a problem for the Northeast.

        2. Thomas Geiger says:

homophobic? I don’t that word means what you think it means.

        3. bob says:

T’Keren: ‘Homophobic’ suggests a prejudice/dislike of homosexuals. I do NOT condemn the people, I DO condemn their practice.
What does the eternal God of the Bible think of the homosexual lifestyle? To Him it’s an abomination, unnatural, unacceptable. Read I Corinthians 6:9, Romans 1:26-27, Jude 1:7, Genesis 19 (Sodom & Gomorrah), Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13

          1. Amy says:

You mean this — from Ezekiel 16:49: “This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.”

Is that what you mean, Bob? As God spoke to Gomorrah?

          2. bob says:

Amy: In Ezekiel 16 to which you’re referring, God is very unhappy with His people, the Jews in Jerusalem. And He is pointing out their forsaking Him and the plans He had for them. Also, He is pronouncing judgement on them for their erring ways.
In verse :16 God is alluding to their wicked ways by comparing them to Sodom and terming them as Sodom’s ‘sister’.

          3. Ty Russ says:

Don’t preach the bible when you really probably haven’t read it & or going on what you have been told. The language back in time actually had different meanings. For example: shellfish was labeled abomination if eaten. Well Bob we are all living in sin & free to do so as thats why are savior died for us. Think for yourself not what you are told to think. Good day & bless you & your heart.

        4. Jesus is love says:

The Bible is very clear on the subject..

          Leviticus 18:22
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

          Leviticus 20:13
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

          1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

          Romans 1:26-27
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

          Jude 7
Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural
desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

Straight from the word of God .. God bless

          1. Jesus is love says:

Ty Rus i read the word of my father daily .. I have a loving relationship with a living God.. So I preach from his word or its blasphemy.. Luke 23:34
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. God bless

          2. Jesus is love says:

Jesus did die for our sins ..but he did not die so we could live in sin.. Once saved by Grace the holy spirit will prune all the sin out your life .. Xooxx

      2. Terry Thompson says:

Bob sorry to say it but you will have to move to a normal state to avoid the sex freaks wanting to show your child how to make sex toys and use them.
California has become a cesspool of mentally sick individuals, and you cannot fight it.
Mental illness is owned by liberals and you are in the middle of the scum….
Look at the situation in San Francisco.
Creating maps to steer tourists clear of human waste and drug areas on the sidewalks…
Who thinks this can be cured by mentally ill educators teaching perversion? Never happen.
        Sad but true…

        1. Paul says:

Wow owned by liberals lol. Conservatives are currently destroying the country hand over fist. Stop being a snowflake and get with the rest of the world and wake up.

          1. Jim says:

Hmmm, unemployment at an all time low for all groups, Economy booming, possible peace between north and south Korea, World leaders taking notice of the US again with praise I might add. Yea them Conservatives sure are hurting things.

      3. Chartrand says:

        amen to that brother

      4. George Koleads says:

Parents just can’t have it both ways. Many expect the district to ‘parent’ then object when their surrogate has a different value. Schools should stick to their core competency of education & parents should stick to theirs. Expecting public service to deliver parity is a fantasy. But what do I know, other than spending my life as a public school administrator & county juvenile court judge.

        1. Thomas Geiger says:

I agree to the point that education does not extend to the promotion of the school districts morals. Stick to the basics of science, math, and literature. Lifestyle education should be left to the parents

      5. Kim says:

        Agree bob

      6. Joel says:

Parents may be contributing financially which indicates to me that there are parents who support this program

If you as a parent are so concerned about what your child is being exposed to, why not teach them values at home.

As a teacher I find it appalling how parents condone their children’s unacceptable behavior and language. They then expect the school to fix their lack of parenting skills

      7. David says:

If the students are not exposed and taught about different sexual orientations then they will grow up to be bigots like you. It’s time to broaden your horizons and be more tolerant of others who are different than you. Jesus did not teach hate, why do you?

        1. Carl Elfstrom says:

And Jesus had his twelve merry men. Oh, my! Let’s not forget about that. Well, they did leave their wives to be with him, you know.

      8. James Grainger says:

Schools have gone to far in teaching sex ed.. It is one thing to teach the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases it is quite another to teach the use of sex toys and sexual practices. Our children need to learn reading, writing and arithmetic, the basics, throw in a little science and history. everything else can wait until college??

      9. John Owens says:

        You are correct, Bob.

    2. Thomas Geiger says:

I disagree. This is a school for the teaching of basics, such as reading comprehension, math, etc. Sex education is the jurisdiction of the parents, PERIOD. And parents ARE PAYING FOR THIS EDUCATION. Or maybe you don’t believe taxes are payment?

      1. teddycares2 says:

Parents have no idea how to teach ‘sex ed’ or anything to their kids. That is why kids learn it from other kids and the net. The kids need to learn sex like civilized countries do.. factual and truthful. No myths no gossip and no hate.. Places where it’s taught that factually have extremely low rape and abuse rates.. unlike the Prudish US.

        1. Jim says:

What countries might that be Teddycares2. I taught sex ed to my kids from condoms to std’s and When my grandchildren are old enough I’m sure my kids will teach them if not I will. Your statement make a judgement on what grandparents did much like your statement of “people in the 60 who said they weren’t racist. Me thinks you need to go back and look. There were plenty of whites that were protesting for equality at that time. You make statement like that because you truly have no idea of what the world really is like. You hear these things and accept them for the truth. Government and socialist views are why we are at this juncture in our history. Government should be trying to keep things like this in the family instead of in the schools. If you want to teach sex ed I say fine. Let the parents decide what and how much to teach. After all they are paying the bills. Do you like hiring someone and them telling you what they will or wont do?

  2. eric k says:

Is this some type of JOKE? This is not the curriculum that should be taught in any public setting without a parents OK.. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS and Disgusting. This is not the education kids need, they need READING, WRITING and ARITHMETIC

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

And to learn how to use and why to use condoms. How to be considerate socially and sexually. Most so called parents fail so badly at raising kids making their education a national right managed by the gov makes alot of sense.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

But what about all those politicians who keep getting charged with sex crimes. There could be more to come. Can such people, who obviously need sex education and counseling themselves, make responsible decisions regarding sex education ?

    2. Kim says:

I thought it was a joke too!! Sick people who created this in high places. Way over the line and I would pull my kids out or I would have an attorney ready.

    3. Loriane says:

      Amen and I agree

    4. Carl Elfstrom says:

I bet you still like Archie Bunker, don’t you ?

    5. Jesus is love says:

      Amen🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👼👼💘💗💗💗💗

  3. Wesley W Brown says:

Why should the kids be forced to this its not wright just alot people in schools dont want anything to hear about jesus so we can talk about jesus but have to hear about the lgbt what is that going to help them it should not happen .just like they cant talk about jesus in school go figure in California

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

because sex ed is about basic biology and social interaction both things schools should be about. Jesus and religion on the other hand should be kept in ones personal safe space.

  4. Debra L Ginsberg says:

THis is social engineering. Theyre doing it in NYC where they tell kids anal sex is normal and there are 30 genders. This is child abuse. It will make them mentally ill. Telling kids to experiment which they do opens them to spirits of homosexuality most gays are that way from being abused, even if they dont remember it when something is traumatic many people forget to protect their sanity.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Regardless of its cause, a little homosexuality can be fun. Just don’t get obsessed with it, or you might find yourself getting married to someone of the same gender, and the two of y’all living happily ever after.

      1. Kevin Driggers says:

        Great post. 🙂

      2. Carl Elfstrom says:

        Try it, you’ll like it.

      3. McAvoy says:

The part about happily ever after is true. The 1st wedding I performed was my Best Friend and Her Wife.
But to teach children, yes High Schoolers are still Children about Dildos made from fruits and vegetables is a little much. I am not Homophobic, I could care less you who decide to spend your life with.
The fact that we as ADULTS are forcing this upon children is disgusting. By this age, kids know (or are pretty well learning towards) what sexual orientation they are going to be. And if ya’ll do not think so, then your head is in the sand. Whether you think it is right or wrong, sin or not, You have NO right to Judge. If you are A Christian, you are not God, A Muslim, you are Not Allah, and if you are Jewish, Pretty sure you are not the Messiah.
So until the coming of what ever God you bow down to, decides to come and punish us all for the stupid crap like this that we do as adults, we should really get our heads out of our @sses.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Why does teaching those experiencing sexual awakening about things bother you? Ive known many women who began masturbating at a very young age, I recall one woman joking the best lover she had was a large picture book she would grind against when she was like 3 or4.

Teaching a girl to improvise a toy and make use of a condom on it to help practice putting a condom on will help the girl feel more confident when she decides its time to try the real thing.

Do I like the idea of the idiot teens having sex? Nope but short of some very extreme ideas there is no controlling it or stopping it. Our biology is at that age an overwhelming force that makes reason take a back seat more often then not.

It would take such a global cultural change that embraced eugenics to really start to alter how our species nevermind which culture to reprogram our views and ideas surrounding sex, love, and reproduction.

    2. Mike says:

Of course, many of us believe that forcing students to participate in religious activities, especially for a religion they don’t follow or accept or believe in, will make them mentally ill and is child abuse. Teaching them they must submit to the will of a certain deity or face eternal damnation sounds pretty abusive to me. Teaching acceptance of others you don’t agree with, meanwhile, sounds pretty logical and open-minded. Yet so many demand their religion (and only their religion) be forcibly taught in public schools while no education of any kind regarding sex be taught because kids are too young to understand such things.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Once boys reach puberty they understand such things, and know who and what they are attracted to.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

come now carl we both know that is far from true. Did you and your friends magically understand sex at puberty? Ofcourse not.

In fact considering how much more news stories pop up about boys as young as 9 gang raping girls even younger and assaulting them further by hitting them with rocks etc shows just how much boys lack understanding of even basic humanity.

Frankly Im starting to think boys need to be given drugs to chemically castrate them along with flintstone vitamins.

    3. Gail Anderson says:

Homosexuality is a result of an individual’s brain chemistry. As biological creatures, much of who we are is mandated by the body we inhabit. Homosexuality is found throughout God’s creation in many, many species. And just as straights find the idea of sex with the same gender unappealing, gays find the idea of sex with the opposite gender less than desirable. Talk with gay people, or better yet, listen to gay people. You will find loving hearts looking for love and acceptance, not the crazed deviants you expect. Examine your own heart- what do you truly fear? Ask yourself what did Jesus himself say on the subject?

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Before there was Adam and Eve there was Adam and Steve. I thought everyone knew that.

      2. Carl Elfstrom says:

And what did Jesus do with his twelve merry men ? Could St. Judas have been a jealous lover who caught Jesus with another man ?

  5. Rev. Rob says:

well people have sex this is very true, but there are perversions of it as there are n all or at least a lot of things out there, but now should little Johnny or Suzy be taught how to use a dildo on each other or do anal? no it is not the job of the school or anyone else to teach them how to do such, it is up to them, the kids as they go along in life to do such if they decide to go in that direction

  6. Jim says:

The Government has no business overturning the parents on sex ed. This is a subject that should be left up to the parents of the kids. Schools need to stick to teaching the basics Reading, Writing and Math & science. We need the schools to get back to teaching not teaching what is PC.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

You forgot to mention History class. I think Out OF The Past would make a good history textbook for students of all ages.

  7. Lea Weis says:

Yes..I do believe this should be taught at home..but its not! Being naive about the world is not a good thing. I came from a religious family and it just dose not prepare you for the real world.
If you send your kids to a public school..deal with it..I personally seem to much damage and victims just because no one told them.

    1. Jim says:

Unless the kids are being kept in a closet there is no way they are going to be naïve about anything. There is a world of difference from just 20 years ago. Kids don’t just learn from home. There friends and others also teach the tech of today is instant. There is more than 3 channels on TV and news from around the world is at their finger tips. They learn not necessarily what we want them to learn but in today’s world these kids learn a whole lot more faster than before. Parent today have to try and regulate and explain more of news. The school does not need to teach sex Ed but if parents want this in their district fine. But if they do not want it they should have the ability to keep their child from attending.

      1. Lea Weis says:

Jim…That’s the problem when they are taught from the streets and else where.

        1. Jim says:

I’m not talking about the streets. Google it.

          1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Teachers are meant to be mentors and advisors to the young. Nothing that is a basic part of life like sex even the kinky parts should be seen as off limits.

But we get it jimbo you are caught up in the rose colored past you still live in.

          2. Jim says:

Knew you could not wait to put something down T. The teachers today are not mentors nor advisors. They want to fill kids with their ideas only. Just like the so called professors on campuses today that talk about freedom of speech only when its speech that they agree with. Most Teachers today indoctrinate they don’t teach. You want to teach sex ed then teach them sex ed. Biology. Man and woman, how a woman gets pregnant. There is no need to teach anything else. And yes T I remember the past because if you don’t you cant learn. I don’t know how old you are but I can tell you this when I grew up most parents lived at home. There was no cursing on TV. Kids respected their elders and said yes sir and yes Ma’am. Kids did not shoot each other in the schools or the streets. Their was respect for the police officer who patrolled the hood and in most cases everyone knew the local patrolman. We had moral standards at one time, I’m not saying things should not change but I am saying some things should not change. We have went way to fair to the left with the PC and socialism. Just like the announcer who had to apologize for his comment about a dishwasher at home being his wife. Really have we totally lost our sense of humor that we can’t make a joke. If his wife was not offended and thought it was funny why do so many feel it was a slap at woman. Yea in the past 40 years or so we have really come a long way in this country. The wrong way.

          3. Michael Grace says:

I guess that means they should be teaching all about beastiality (sex with animals) too then?

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

If parents would just quit closing the bedroom door children would learn a lot more at home.

  8. James says:

Trash is trash ,low rent is low rent .Truth be known most of our teachers are socialist that only want that state pay check and spread complete understand of their beliefs and no tolerance for anyone else’s. Especially the heritage and morality that made all of it possible . Freedom is not free, privacy is at home, and every corner you come around some nasty scum will try and show you a new low. Just protect your children and yourself from these reprobate thinking people.. Their idea of freedom is clogging up their state with drug addicts, illegals and homelessness. Not a shining beacon of light! So discern from what you see, hear and know. Find the good and throw out the rest!

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

what heritage and morality? This country certainly wasnt founded in a bedrock of such things.

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

I’m glad future generations have learned from the mistakes of our forefathers and have improved our society and nation as a result.

        1. John Owens says:

LOL!. Good one, Carl! I only just now noticed it!

    2. John Owens says:

      I concur with James.

  9. James says:

Why are my comments waiting for moderation?

    1. janice Ellery says:

I think all comments are now screened. Unfortunately there are a few trolls on this that can’t have civilized conversations.

    2. Carl Elfstrom says:

They.moderate most of mine James, and for good reasons. You should see the ones that don’t get posted. This isn’t exactly a free for all. A ministry has something to do with spirituality. We get so worked up over these issues and comments sometimes that we lose sight of that, so its best to sometimes have our comments moderated, and sometimes even deleated.

  10. janice Ellery says:

The parents or kids should be allowed to object abd substitute another class. This law needs to be struck down by the courts.

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

kids should all learn from the same books. selective material create an imbalance of haves and have nots.

      1. Tom says:

T’Keren…i agree…public school should be uniform and standardized…there are private and parochial schools, as well as trade schools, for specializing…from my point of view, the problems with public education today, which i believe is very bad, is that people will complain about it, but they will do nothing about seriously leaning on their State politicians to work on meaningful curricula…Peace…Tom

  11. Lea Weis says:

Not only do I feel sex ed should be taught but also and etiquette class. Plus among other social classes and that includes religion classes..world religions and not on a biased level. This world is so different for our children that they are in contact with so many different cultures. I stood behind a chair ( Cosmetologist) for 40 years and what I’ve heard…Parents minds are in the closet. I even think Karate classes should be taught.

  12. Linda Happenny says:

So let me get this straight. You think our kids should not know anything about all sex and they should have unwanted pregnancies because they have no knowledge and aren’t ready or the responsibilities that go with it. Then you want kids who are gay not to learn about themselves and be accepted into this cruel world. I will tell you this, It was no fun for me because sex was taboo in my house and it had devastating results. Please get your head out of the sand.

  13. Jim says:

It is not the governments responsibility to teach kids. It is the parents. Even the public school system was initially set up to teach the basics and things for that community. PTA’s were set up to help determine the course of education. We now have way to many socialists in the system and parents are not doing their job by letting this stuff go unchallenged. That is how we got to this in the first place. As I stated in a previous post kids are not as naïve as you may think. Any child who reaches the age where they could get pregnant I would think has been educated on sex. Come on people I knew enough about sex at 10 years old and I’m old. Even back then sex ed was taught but the basics were what was taught and the rest you learned from that old fashioned talk with the parent. To say or even think that a teenager today does not have the knowledge, it may be possible but highly unlikely. When was the last time you were listening to kids on the playground of an average elementary school.

    1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Too many parents don’t have enough knowledge in this area to teach their kids about it. Parents should be required to try a little homosexuality before casting judgement. It can sometimes be a lot of fun.

    2. Alan Meunier says:

I am willing to bet the parents complaining about this are the very same ones that will not talk to their kids about it. The teen pregnancy rates have finally gone done. do we really want it to go back up again? Do parents also talk about STDs and prevention? Most parents do not have any knowledge of the “science” behind sex, how are they going to talk about it? Fundamentalist families especially will not talk about it at all. How will that work out? “Sex is bad until marriage”, that is all they know and want to teach. Let us please get to the 21st century.

      1. Jim says:

I find it funny when I was a teenager we did not have a big teen pregnancy issue. We were taught sex ed in school around the Jr High to High school age. It was a few films, and the basics. No gay sex or anything like that just the basics. I as well as most kids at that time were taught individual responsibility. I taught my kids the same things. Not sure what you refer to as the science behind sex but STD’s were discussed in our house as well as prevention. The bottom line is that when this type of thing was left up to the family it seemed we did not have such a high teen pregnancy rate or the amount of STD’s out there. The 21st century as you put it see’s a large increase in the problems. Wonder why. Could it be that Parents are not doing their job or could it be that the government like everything else it touches has gotten involved and made things worse. Tell me one thing that the schools or government has done in the last 50 years that actually works.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

jimmy dean sausages if you think you all had it so good we would not be in the world we are now in. News flash it was the blind eye turned in the past that created the discontent that is bubbling over everywhere now.

          1. Jim says:

T can you post a comment without name calling. Do you feel better when you try and belittle people with a different opinion than yours. I mean really do you need the attention that bad?

          2. Carl Elfstrom says:

And where would we be if the internet didn’t go public well less than fifty years ago. We wouldn’t be posting comments on this blog or any other blog, for there wouldn’t be any blogs. And just because we lived without the internet before it was invented doesn’t mean we could do so again.

          3. John Owens says:

I disagree about the blind eye creating the discontent. I think the discontent is there no matter what, no matter how much freedom or how little. Just an observation.

        2. Dr. Ramona says:

If you took even a second to look at actual statistics you would see the teen pregnancy rate has been declining steadily over the last 50 years and is actually significantly lower than in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

But a fool and facts are not frequent bedfellows.

          1. Becky Tice says:

What do the abortion rates look like during that time?

      2. Carl Elfstrom says:

I bet a lot of those parents have latent homosexual desires, and tendencies. I’ve heard in gay bars that straight only means straight to bed. And don’t get confused about the sex acts such manly men will engage in. Some claim they only want to feel what their wives go through so they can better relate to them, again and again and again.

  14. Tom says:

This is a far more complicated issue than just sex education…i have been involved with our Board of Education for decades, and the parents are reacting to one issue; they do not realize that the entire education system in America is failing, and the teachers colleges are complicit in teaching curricula that is more and more out of touch with the concept of preparing children for life in the world…from what i see, parents would serve their children far better if the parents would spend the extremely lengthy amount of time to harass their boards of education to reduce the amount of technology and science, and teach children how to interact with each other; how governments do/should work; how prejudices are ego/fear driven; how everyone should help everyone else…children are not prepared to be good citizens by being immersed in computers, cell phones, social media etc…but parents will not do this, because it is too much work and time…this is very sad to me, and foretells the eventual end of the America we would like to believe is a paragon for the world…remember, absolutely no Empire has lasted…Peace…Tom

    1. Minister Norman says:

      Tom!

You’ve hit multiple nails on the head!

Sadly, and for too long now, parents have expected the schools to raise their kids for them, and as suchs, have ceded much of their parental responsibility to the State.

Bummer, to now wake up and discover the State are worse parents than they are, and that all that “Free Time” they thought they’d gained is now spent on crisis management with their out of control kids.

And too bad to also discover that it may be too late (or at least a whole lot harder), to wake up the Department of Education, School Administers, Teachers, and especially all those complicitous, let alone unwitting and uncaring PARENTS to the crisis at hand!

Yup! The Chickens have indeed come home to roost!

A lot of years ago now, I worked very hard to obtain my Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential for California… Only to be blindsided with the new reality of what teaching in America had become: “We Now Teach To The Test” was the new mantra!

Man, I got out fast!!! “Run Away”!!!

Sadly, what I’d prepared for was a model that no longer existed: I had learned to teach sound Curriculum, and then to create (my own) tests that measure knowledge against what was studied and learned.

That is no longer the model!

The new methodology is to “Teach to the Test”: Tests that are not even created by local Teachers, and not even in your own school or school district, not in your county, no, not even in your state, but are now “Administered” ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL!

So eggs are now laying Chickens!

This new upside-down version of “Education” also says everything is relative, and equal, or can be whatever you think it is! (This is at the heart of “Common Core”), and just try teaching that; I mean coherently! Worse, try balancing a check book with that nonsense! And that’s only the beginning of this (unsolvable) equation.

…AND, before everyone blames California, we didn’t do it!

“Common Core” (or Common Whore as I dubbed it), came out of Washington DC and several administrations of Republican and Democrat Departments of (Indoctrinal) Education!

…And all by way of TEXAS.

“Don’t mess with Texas”? Why not, Texas is messing with the rest of the country, and messing up a system of Education that was and did work just fine, for YEARS!

What ever happened to, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”?

      POLITICIANS & GLOBALISTS!!

That same Texas School Book Depository did more than stage the execution of a President back when (and sadly too many current students wouldn’t even understand that reference), because it’s now executing educational excellence all over the country.

Yes, TEXAS, actually sets the NATIONAL CURRICULUM STANDARDS for the entire USA. i.e. its all tried out on that Guinea Pig population first, agreed upon by DC Politicians (of both Parties)…Then trickles down on the rest of us!

So who created this Yellow Rain?

Democrats and Republicans alike: BUT it first began with the United Nations and the UN PC Feel-Good ideas on “Public Education with a Global Perspective” or “Education toward a Global(ist) Identity”!

Read: One World Government, and “The Clinton Global Initiative, et al! Including (or colluding) Bush (1&2), Reagan before them, Obama, and now Trump (because Betsy’s fully on board)! So all of them are on the same Globalist page! …And inspite of any protestations to the contrary.

Hillary would have been a Tax ans Spend Globalist, and instead Trump is borrowing your kids future! So perhaps itsi best if the population is too dumb to notice; by design.

They are creating a mindless robotic work force of Hive-minded minions; rather than (much harder to control), Critical Thinkers.

…And even if the latter gene pool is where all our innovation and science comes from. They see themselves as “The Deciders”, so who needs an informed populace!

Ultimately its all about CONTROL, and also “Follow the Money”!

…All the way to the World Bank and Bank for International Settlements: Where Global World Currency manipulators, and the authors of Cenral Banks Worldwide now rule every day!

Here’s a test: Ever wonder why we demonize and are at war with ONLY none Central Bank Signatory Nations? It’s an easy answer, but only if you’re actually awake.

It’s time for all of us to wake up now!

      1. Tom says:

Norman…thank you for your dynamic writing, which clearly demonstrates that while there certainly is a problem with what we call “education” today, there is an overall problem with the world…hundreds of years ago, when the Rothchilds and similar families started controlling our monetary systems, ti was not as noticeable…now that technology has made it easier to understand, we have fled from that understanding, in favor of video games, social media and narcissism…i agree that the “powers” do not want a truly educated public, as it would not support this existing ultra-capitalist control…we (corporations) give tens of millions of dollars to Jaime Dimon, and similar “executives”, but we allow thousands to die EVERY DAY from starvation and disease…we give lip service to medical problems, but we allow pharmaceutical companies and governments to control medical care, often with absolutely superfluous medicines…to me, at 76, the world, including all of the “wonderful” technology, is in the worst condition in my lifetime…when Barry Sadler sang “Eve of Destruction”, it seems no one listened…Pink Floyd and David Bowie tried, but no one actually listened to the messages…and while artists are free to develop rap, and any other kinds of entertainment, violent actions and violent words are not the answer…sadly, or maybe even positively, I feel we are in an evolutionary era where there can only be (slow) change through individual enlightenment; not through those who see the world as their domain to control…sorry if I went on too long, but your writing helped me focus…Peace…Tom

  15. Carl Elfstrom says:

The youngest girl to get pregnant in my class was eleven. That is the same year I started having sex, but not with her. I think we had sex education the following year (1975) in sixth grade, but I skipped that class and got high instead, or was too high to remember it. Of course, I was usuall y in the alternative school for bad kids. And bad kids will be bad. I don’t think sex education benefits good kids since they mind their elders and don’t fool around, as much. So sex education only benefits teachers and parents, by making them think they’ve done the right thing. Still, nothing has ever stopped anyone from having sex.

  16. John Owens says:

I’m just pleased so many of us agree that this is an unjust travesty. Those of you who do not are most likely just unwitting victims of the same system. Many people do not even realize that “education” also means “indoctrination” in this day and age. That makes many claims of “I have a degree” mean “I am heavily brainwashed.”
Now, what to do about it? First, I don’t live in California, so I can’t do anything about what happens there. However, every New Age, Pinko, Anti-judeo-christian, PC, social engineering doctrine taught in schools anywhere starts out in California and worms its way into every other state educational system.
Abolish the NEA first. THEN, these bureaucrats that say you HAVE to let them brainwash your children in a manner not agreeable to you need to be marginalized to the point of homelessness, and perhaps a little vigilantism and vandalism would not be detrimental in some cases, just in order to re-educate them. These people operate and experiment on our society with very little or no accountability and are being paid by our tax money to ruin our country.

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

typical of your posting style, suggesting mass violence against those you wish to see persecuted.

      1. Jim says:

Kinda like your comments T’Keren about Mississippi.

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

On the contrary, my post on that topic was speaking of a merciful end to an abominable existence. That is a far cry from suggesting mob rule and destruction of private property as a tool to force acceptance of subjugation.

One is akin to putting a starving child out of their misery because you cant feed them. The other is like beating a starving kid for saying they are hungry while eating a 4 course meal in front of them and tossing bits to large savage dogs.

          1. Jim says:

It appears that my last posting was not permitted. I’ll just say that your opinion is no different than Johns. You advocated violence on a population YOU feel is not worthy. Just as John did no matter how you try and spin it T’Keren it is what it is.

          2. John Owens says:

Damn, T’Keren. Your over-the-top comparisons appear to be caused by some wild medication. You’re nuts.

    2. John Owens says:

Yes. I am advocating mass violence IF marginalizing doesn’t encourage them to rethink their behavior. These people are too ignorant and too self-righteous to listen to anything resembling reason, like T’Keren here. They think they know better than anyone else how your children should be raised and taught, and generally speaking they are very seldom held accountable for the damage they do with their social experimentation. They are all for rudeness and violence as long as it is against Judeo-Christian values and conservatism, but they are totally against rudeness and violence if it is used against them. SEE? That is all they understand. They make my case for me.

  17. John Owens says:

The Orange County school board CANNOT just arbitrarily decide on a curriculum and then tell parents they have no rights regarding it. Pure hogwash. You ALWAYS have rights, if you are not too regimented or submissive to claim them.

    1. Duckin Acup says:

Bzzzzt. Wrong answer, but thanks for playing. People of the school district elect the members of the school board who are granted the power to select the curriculum and set the rules by the voters. So, it’s not an arbitrary decision – the voters, and parents who attend board meetings to voice their opinions, told them to set that curriculum and to create those rules. One has the right to voice stupid uninformed opinions just the school board was granted authority to do what it does. Doh!

      1. John Owens says:

You are full of crap. School boards OFTEN make decisions without any input from the parents. The parents do NOT have to tolerate this and they DO have rights, and can remove their kids from those classes or that school if they so desire. They may also leave piles of excrement on the porches of school board members and may place roofing nails in their driveways and encourage them to think twice before trying to force things upon them. Yes, you MAY voice your stupid opinion. Oh… My bad… you already did.

  18. Minister Norman says:

Sadly, this isn’t about “Sex Education” at all. This is about our out of control “Big Brother” menality government trying to control every aspect of our lives, and of our thinking.

    It’s indoctrination pure and simple.

This is a Globalist wet dream. An agenda to control how every one of us thinks; which is also why schools no longer encourage Critical Thinking or emphasize the individual at all (except when convenient to their agenda), but instead, defer to Collective Curriculums and the Collective Bee-Hive mentally of such teaching “methods” as “Common Core” and other “Collective Speak” BS, and over content analysis, or even basic scientific exploration and discovery, let alone any form of critical skepticism.

“This is how it is, and FOR ALL OF US!” is the new message. And that is just WRONG!

I’m old enough to remember “Consent Forms” (way) back when I was in grade school, and even in High School. What’s changed, other than this new Globalist “Hive Mind” agenda we are now seeing literally EVERYWHERE?

This is totally inappropriate, and a further errosion of individual rights over “States Rights” and as I’ve said, smacks of some perverse “Collective” mentality.

How Politically Correct and Personally damning. This type of intrusion by the State (Governments) is happening all over the world now, and it’s damaging young minds now Globally.

The Globalist’s giant AGENDA is really showing and taking over control of all our lives in too many ways now.

We all need to fight back.

I believe (and science agrees), that Homosexuality is a normal part of human sexuality and human existence (argue that amondst yourselves, and “The Bible” aside, I think Science wins the day on that one); but that’s not what this is really about anyway. If it was, they could present that evidence and be done with it. No! This is all about the Few deciding for the MANY.

This is about the STATE now deciding, telling all of us how to think!!!

I can remember a Sex Ed Class that addressed all types/forms of sexuality back when I was in High School, including Homosexuality, and broaching some of this subject matter, but without all the unnecessary details, and also stating it was an individuals choice that we’d all naturally come to (which I believe is correct) and without any type of coercion or indoctrination.

I don’t believe we need to address every aspect of everything anyway, or every form of sexuality or sexual practice or experience to form a healthy view of sex. Where does that end?

Sadly, this looks a lot like a recent UK situation in the news, where that Government told a couple they must unplug their “Terminally Ill” child and let him die, and that hey could NOT bring him to the United States for any experimental treatment regime. The State literally “Forbid” them from leaving the country, because the State, not the patents, decided it was not in the childs best interest. The “State” (that is World Governments) are becoming far too powerful and way too intrusive in all our PERSONAL lives.

This latest “Sex Ed” blip is nothing more than our own (US) government flexing it’s muscles, to INFORM us all that THEY control WE THE PEOPLE!

    Just say “NO”!

    1. John Owens says:

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this, Minister Norman.

    2. guidvce4 says:

Absolutly agree with you. Guvmint has gotten too big, and socialistic, to be responsive to the citizens. Especially in the “blue” states such as Caliexico. The NEA is a big part of the problem and needs to be outlawed. They are nothing more than the Communist Party of America in disguise as a “teachers” union. Look at the results of their actions for proof. Start with their idea of “free speech”, its okay only if it agrees with their ideas. Otherwise, they riot, or encourage their students to riot for them. Time to put a stop to the funding of the federal education system and base all tenure on results not time on the job. Punctum.

      1. Minister Norman says:

First off, I live in “Caliexico” as you’ve slammed it, and while we have our “Faults”, it’s still the WORLDS 11th largest economy, and when compared to WORLD Governments. So I believe we’re doing a lot of things right. …Not that economics alone is the end-all-be-all of any healthy society.

Secondly, “Outlaw” and FIX are two very different things. The first is a kneejerk reaction (such as Prohibition), and the second is an appropriate response.

Thirdly, RED States are EQUALLY offensive when it comes to using “Free Speech” as a political football, or anti-social bludgeon.

…And if you want to talk “Socialistic Government”, lets start with TRUMP: He’s signed more “Executive Oreders” (circumventing our Legislature), than the last three Presidents combined. …But you probably agree with him, so think that’s okay; how about when another rogue Democrat rules the roost?

I personally don’t want to see any one person, or any of our three branchs of Government (Legislative, Executive, and Judicial), weild that kind of power.

They are supposed to be endowed with EQUAL powers….

Our LAWS are supposed to come from Bills, not “Executive Orders”. So many, silent now, complained their heads off over Obama’s so called, “Miss-use of “Executive Orders”. Bills are supposed to come from our Representatives (their collective disfunction aside), and Judges are then to decide their legality.

        That’s how it was designed.

And thats my point exactly: WE THE PEOPLE should decide, and based on our Secular Laws (which we can change by Voting), but not by Mob Rule, personal preference, or ANY groups (obvious) Agenda, and however “Well Meaning”, and however much any of us agrees with them.

…To do otherwise is how Freedom DIES!

I was against this overstep by Teachers in California the same way I was against Alabama imposing the Ten Commandments on everyone.

We are a Secular Nation (Thank GOD, and “Render unto Caeser what is Caesars”), and we should remain that way, because the alternative is always worse.

Just look at those (War Torn) countries that decided Religion, and “Religious Laws” should rule the Day: They’ve all descended into barbarism, and/or Wars!

By the way, I’m a registered INDEPENDENT: Or NPP as Cali labels it. So I vote for reason, not the treason of (dirty) “Party Politics”. I did not vote for either (Dumbell) Trump (some “uniter”), or (Shri)Hillary this last election.

The way I see it, they are two sides of the same twisted dysfunctional coin.

Sadly, polarization is the new politic, and jingoism has replaced critical thinking, respect, and anything even remotely resembling Rights or Reason.

        1. Jim says:

Minister Norman while I disagree with some of your positions you have hit the nail on the head with the exec orders and how the country was supposed to be set up with the 3 branches having equal power. It is a shame and congress should feel ashamed at what they have let party politics rule. These folks are elected to represent their state and the people in that state and from California to New York these reps are only out for themselves and their party platform. They cant get anything done because of the party politics and the lobbyists. People need to wake up and start getting back to the founding fathers intent. Its funny someone can get elected and go to DC as an average person but when they are done there most if not all come out as millionaires. We also need to start following the laws that we have and either change them or follow them.

          1. Minister Norman says:

            Thanks!

BTW, I’m glad you disagree with SOME of my positions. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

None of us has all the answers, or even the right ones for everyone else; we are after all individuals.

That’s one of my biggest points to champion!

That is also why I do not believe in inflicting our private lives or personal beliefs on all of society, as policy. And if we really want less Government control over our lives, it all starts there.

I am also happy to see any “Opinion” presented in a respectful manner; whether I agree with it or not, but I do agree with you. Especially that “Lobbyists” are (in my opinion) the biggest problem we face in leveling any political field.

Eliminate anything other than individuals lobbying THEIR Representatives, and I believe we solve a boatload of issues.

Sadly, the first (and only) time I was in DC, I was absolutely disgusted when I visited “our” Nations Capital…

As we headed toward the Congressional Chambers to go and sit in the Gallery, there were tons of folks lining the corridors that we literally had to wade through. So I asked our guide if something was happening, because to my eyes it didn’t look “normal”.

He laughed, and said (in a very entertaining, and snarky voice), “Oh, that’s nothing in new, in particular. Same old, same old. Those are all Lobbyists; waiting to pounce on ‘OUR Representatives’ once this sessions out! They’re like Land Sharks; or Ramora!” LOL

…With Cash in hand no doubt!

        2. Minister Norman says:

PS: Wish I was still in school!

Rather than be offended, I’d (innocently) ask any teacher (who absurdly) presented us with a Banana, a Cucumber, a Watermelon, Cumquat, Gerbal, whatever, and encouraged us to “Anally Experiment” with said objects…

“So, do YOU eat them afterwards?!”

…And when such teacher complained (and likely screamed), “That’s gross!”

I’d respond, “And shoving produce up your ass isn’t?!

Perhaps we need to see the humor (and folly) in all of this, and not so much react, as respond, in kind!

…Thus pointedly, pointing out, “YOUR propensities are not necessarily MY propensities, so its probably best you keep them to yourself!

Or perhaps a hearty T-M-I would suffice!

          LOL

          1. Jim says:

We are in major agreement with the lobby issue. and a few other points as well. Have a good day.

        3. Michael Grace says:

I voted Trump, but I can tell you NO I do not agree with everything he has done or will do.

You say “lets start with TRUMP: He’s signed more “Executive Oreders” (circumventing our Legislature), than the last three Presidents combined. “, where did you get that info?

Just a fast web search brings up these links:
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_federal_executive_orders
          http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/orders.php
https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/number-of-executive-orders-per-president/ not all 3 pages agree on the number of EO’s Trump has issued but that is because of the dates each updates their list.

          Trump – 70

          obama – 276
          bush – 291
          clinton – 364

          276+291+364 = 931

70 sure looks like a lot less than 931 unless I forgot my math skills.

        4. Michael Grace says:

I had tried to post this with links to 3 websites but it didn’t get allowed, I am not sure why so I have tried deleting the 3 weblinks and will try it now.

          1. Jim says:

Well played Michael, Trump has done a good job in my opinion. The economy is strong, unemployment is down and the world leaders are taking notice once again of the US. Even though the left media keeps trying to play on criticism from some world leaders I think with the north and south Koreas coming together and the fact that Trump put China on the hot seat to help make that happen I think people (myself Included) sometimes thinks he needs to cool his jets, Knows what he is doing and he is doing it his way. God Bless him. He is a character but then again I think that is what got him elected in the first place, He is not a politician. That is why people hate him he is not going to tell you what you want to hear or step down from a fight like the previous president did.

  19. Minister Norman says:

PS: (Sorry for the Typos, this cellular paperweight is out of control, just like our “government”), but I wanted to add, that if enough of us speak out (and Regardless of what State you live in, and VOTE, and contact your “representatives”), THEY will have to listen, and acquiesce; and for those in California, call Sacramento, and VOTE!

  20. Jon Kidd says:

I respect our worlds governments approval to allow same sex marriage. I do not approve of same-sex marriage within my faith of god.

  21. Frank Villari says:

How is socialism working out for California? Gee, doesn’t look too good. Rebellions on all fronts.

    1. Jon Kidd says:

Man has always wanted to be god!

    2. Minister Norman says:

I live in California (the 11th Largest WORLD Economy), so I’d say it’s working out OKAY!

Don’t mistake our lively (healthy) Political Discourse for “Rebellion”.

Trump’s vision for America is creating the real Rebellion!

      “Let them eat Cake!”

…Wait ’til November for a response!

      1. Jim says:

This is where we differ. Some counties are rebelling against the state government. This is not political discourse when the counties want to follow federal law instead of state laws. The counties want the immigration laws upheld as they should be. Trump was elected president while I don’t agree with his rants etc he is the president and on some issues we are in agreement. I will respect the office just as I did when Obama was the president.

        1. Minister Norman says:

          Jim,

Those same counties were all for California “Adjusting” our tax laws in favor of Landlords over Tenants Rights, and even the Jarvis Tax Amendment (among so many other issues that have flown in the face of Federal Laws), and that are still being battled out in State and Federal Courts even today.

This is nothing new; except that it’s a “Hot Button” issue, and only because Congress refuses to inact any kind of cohesive Immigration Policy.

But State’s Rights and Federal Laws have always come into conflict. That’s our (healthy) system of Government in action…

It’s also our Constitution proving its still a viable document, and WE THE PEOPLE in action (making adjustments: Good & Bad), all at the same time.

I’m less disturbed by this than I am about Trump’s abuse of “Executive Orders”, and all the unqualified people he’s now populated our Federal Government with!

On the other hand, Orange County legislators are just flexing their political muscle, will, and point of view (as is their Right), just as Sacramento has a Right to set Laws that govern our State, and the Courts will then decide which is to be upheld, and whether the OC or Sacramento overstepped its authority.

Agree or disagree, that’s how our system works.

…And that’s a healthy part of our Democracy (especially, since we seem to no longer be a “Republic…Of, For, and By the People” in so many other ways)!

Heck, Alabama Legislators “Decided” to put the Ten Commandments on State Government property, and that then went through the courts, and they won. I disagree with that ruling (because of the Separation of Powers and Church and State), just as I disagree with California’s School Board and their overly “Demonstrative” Sex Ed Classes, but that’s how our system of Government works.

It’s sometimes a messy process, but it ultimately (mostly still) works itself out.

  22. David says:

“Should parents be given more control, or is it okay to leave this matter up to the schools?”

There seems to be some confusion here. Children are a gift & a responsibility, given by the Creator, to the parents. Nowhere is it written that parents can abrogate that responsibility in favor of the state or anyone else. This article, by the way it’s written, exhibits a bias. The authors are are asking the wrong questions.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  23. Rebecca L Tice says:

This may not get published because it’s not a mainstream idea at all apparently. Personally, I wonder if this whole “homosexuals can’t be saved” thing is a hoax. Wait before you hate me… There are letters in the Bible about the fight about circumcision and the New Testament Church. God told men they had to be circumcised. That is one of the things that separated the Israelites from the majority of the rest of the world. Then when gentiles were accepted into the New Testament Church…. the leaders of the church [of Jewish decent] wanted the gentiles to be circumcised. Well having your private parts cut just to join a group of people who were marked for murder because they called themselves Christians…. was too much to ask. So circumcision which was such a big big big deal in the Old Testament was no longer a big deal.

Now look at Paul [Saul of Taursus formerly]…. he was an ugly short man physically. He was also an angry man bent on murder. Paul was very aware of the Roman and Greek Orgies. I would venture to say before his days before Jesus knocked him on his but… he probably had some fun at those Roman and Greek Orgies. He had the ear of the leaders…. he was a Roman Soldier with credentials….. could he have had some non-heterosexual flings? Paul said he faught demons every day…. was it a lust he couldn’t partake in?

Yes… it is mentioned in the Mosaic Law. It’s right up there with the biggies like murder, theft, and gluttony. Yes… God said He hates it…. but stop… isn’t it possible that God hates it because it keeps so many from a one on one relationship with Christ and His Heavenly Father? Isn’t it possible that besides the obvious concerns about declines in procreation…. the heartache it brings to children of God who are drummed out of Christian society because of it. God controls time…. God knew what these people would go through. Maybe that’s why He hates it….

I’m not gay. I fought the PTA for their stance on this topic. There was a gay couple teaching in my daughter’s elementary school. At the time I threw a huge ruckus…. now… I have my questions. Would God throw away a gay person?

    1. Jim says:

Good post Rebecca. I have two gay family members. While I do not agree with the lifestyle it is not for me to judge. I figure god will sort that all out when the time comes. I think everyone has a right to live life as they please with whom they please, that said as long as they live their life and don’t interfere with others go for it. I say Live your life and let me live mine.

      1. Rebecca L Tice says:

I wish it were as simple as “let God sort it out”. Maybe some of these children will never hear that God loves them just because they got labeled while being “instructed” as a child.

Suppose a child got a bad interpretation of the curriculum. Suppose that child decided that they were gay and later in life… because of the gay label… no one bothered to tell them about Jesus…. because of a lie and some botched curriculum… this person never heard the Good News…. and they are condemned by society.

I say condemned by society because… if God wants that person to hear the Good News…. He will put the Gospel in front of that person and open his ears and heart… but that person… will have a much harder time responding to the call because of the label and years of societal condemnation.

Maybe that’s why God abhors it. Maybe God knows who is going to have a hard time…..

        1. Jim says:

I disagree Rebecca, both are in their 50’s one turned gay after a bad marriage with an abusive husband. At this point it is up to god to sort out. They both grew up in a different society than now and know what they are doing. At that point it is up to god. I again say that I don’t judge them I just disagree with the lifestyle they have chosen like I do with an Uncle who is a drug addict. They choose the life they lead and will answer for it when the time comes but it is their life and while I will and have done everything I can it is ultimately their decision.

          1. Becky Tice says:

See now that’s sorta the point I was making. I was speaking generally about children. Jesus said let them come. We put so many roadblocks on the path…. It’s hard enough for a child to find their way now… With so many parents not “forcing” their children to attend church (when really it started out as parents sleeping in) and then getting confusing curriculum as well… What kid has a chance to go to Jesus on their own?

  24. L says:

As a Lesbian I wish that when I took sex- ed in school the LGBT talks were around. I probably would have had a better childhood knowing that my feelings we’re “normal” and ok. I know that everyone has their own opinion on this topic but growing up with only your “straight” Sex-ed talks made me feel very confused. One more thing, I think parents need to parent their children not put it just on schools to have the talk. Yes it can be rough having that talk with your child but it is possible.
When my son came home after taking sex-ed in school I was very happy that they bought up “LGBT” sex-ed.

  25. teddycares2 says:

I find it interesting how many are offended or upset by kids being taught facts and reality. Sex is not some mystical thing that parents never talk about (as many think it is).. it’s a natural human function of your body. it doesnt matter who you are attracted to, Your God gave you the needs and desires he wanted you to have. Sex is NOT evil! We need to be open and teach kids facts and reality as soon as they start to question their bodies. Countries where this is done have drastically lower rape rates and much lower abuse rates that the US. Kids will find out about sex from their friends if their parents dont teach reality and facts. They will get whatever their buddies dream up as the facts. Those who are judging people because of who they are attracted to are not following the teachings of Christ.

    1. Jim says:

Should the teachers teach a religion, how about political views. Again if a parent does not want their child to go to this class they should not have to. This is the parents decision not the school systems. If a parent wants them to attend the class then fine go. The government should not be forcing anyone to do anything against their belief system.

    2. Roberet Messmer says:

You claim that the kids are being taught facts and reality but that is not true. Science (which is fact driven and doesn’t have an agenda) teaches us the fact that humans are divided into two (2) sexes – male and female. Medical science tells us that those who think they are the wrong sex suffer from gender dysphoria which is a mental illness. It never used to be accepted treatment to accommodate delusional people for example those who thought they were Napoleon Bonaparte were not called Emperor and allowed to lead armies. For some reason those who think (or at least claim) that they are the wrong sex are to be cow-towed to by allowing them to use the restroom/shower of the opposite sex and allowed to choose their own pronoun including nonsense syllables you would expect from sci-fi aliens. Elimination of waste is also a natural human function of your body but do you need a class for it? Can you name even one society that existed and flourished comprised solely of non-heterosexuals?

      1. John Owens says:

        Good comments, Roberet.

  26. Warren Wall says:

We are a nation headed in the direction that ancient Rome took before its decline. The government is composed of corrupt, self serving individuals rather than representitives of the people. The ethical values of our society have fallen to the point of being non existent. We have become a society of pleasure rather than purpose.

  27. Bill Fox says:

If children can be trained to be gay, then they can be trained to be heterosexual. What happened to “born that way” or “can’t control how one acts”?

    1. Claudia says:

a person is born gay, people that are not gay will figure out its not for them but we have young kids killing them self because they are gay. one out of three will be gay.it easier now for kids.

  28. Nancy Froio says:

Loving the pic of the redhead boy on the Home page! Who is he and where did that pic come from. I feel Love and Innocence looking at him.

  29. Jim says:

I agree Rebecca not much of a chance on their own and its getting worse.

  30. Secretary3rd says:

I knew a good Christian girl way back when in the 1980’s who dated a guy that she wanted to marry. It seems that her school never taught anything about sex more then she will get marry and her husband will be in charge of sex in the family. Her boyfriend gave her HIV. She ask what can she do. My answer was that she will be dead within a year and that she might as well enjoy what little time she has. She infected her boyfriends brothers, also the studs on the football team savior her delights. She went after straights and fairies to her males are males. Even with high morals when given the chance to wander they will wander.
    She died with a grind.
Today there are 50 STD’s any parent are stupid enough to hid their children from sex education in school better lock them up because they will turn to friends as well as the Internet for answers to questions. The last thing you want is your 13 year old daughter to find out what sex is from her boyfriend and your going to be a grandparent.

  31. sheryl clyde says:

I am going to be 60 in a few days and the fight over what is the proper thing to teach in sex education is nothing new believe me. The rating of it may have changed and a few things added but not the fight. Yes “gasp” they started this long ago in my day. We survived it and so will you.

  32. Jesus is love says:

I am sorry but If you believe it’s ok to be gay thats the darkness deceiving your mind! I have love for everyone no judgement here.. But I do speak truth ..Repent your sins and come to a complete surrender to a living God! There’s only one way to the father and that’s though a relationship with Jesus Christ! Come to the cross your never to far gone and everyone is welcome. There’s a light in the darkness the lord is waiting with open arms💗💗💗💗👼👼👼🙏🙏

  33. Jim says:

(This is in response to Dr. Ramona) Dr. Ramona you are 100% correct in saying that teen pregnancies are down from the 50’s 60’s and 70’s. I owe you an apology. I assumed that the folks reading and contributing to this blog would have the common sense to take into account the medical advances that has been made each decade in birth control. Teen pregnancies are down about 62% from the 50’s. Of that medical advances in Birth control is said to have contributed 86% to the decrease in pregnancies over these decades. With that factored in there would be a lot more teen pregnancies if the medical technology was still that of the 50’s. Given the advances it is amazing to me that we have any teen pregnancies by accident but here we are. The question that should be asked is why are we still having this issue. However you were right, I should not have assumed that you would have the common sense to understand my point. I should have stuck to standard rules of communication.
Just an FYI DR. if you are wanting to get a point across the best way is to state your case clear and without personal attacks or insults. Otherwise effective communication is shut down. On the other hand if you just want to make yourself try and feel superior to someone else much like cyper bullies you insult the person and close the lines of communication. I guess you must take the later. As a Dr. I would have thought you would have taken a few classes in communication skills. In any event I was in error and apologize for my assumptions.

    1. John Owens says:

Nope. She’s a troll, like T’Keren, and Maher.

  34. R. A. Snow says:

If you are paying taxes and are a parent with school age children, you have every right to have a say in what and/or how subjects are taught in the schools your children are attending. Teachers are hired to teach, not indoctrinate. Sex Ed classes should not be implemented in any form without the parents input. It is their children. Religion in any form has no business being taught in schools. Keep it in church/synagog/temple, etc. where it belongs. Politics needs to be kept inside U.S. History and World History classes only and only as it pertains to those subjects. ‘Gender Studies’ makes absolutely no sense as biologically there are only TWO genders, male and female. Sexual orientation has no business in schools OR religious studies in my opinion. That should be left up to the individual. The list of what should and should not be taught in today’s schools gets longer every day. I’ll end here before I ramble too much more.

  35. Christian says:

    Sex Ed should point out
you are One Link in Generations of humans spanning 1,000s of years.

Making humans is important work and all such efforts should be taken seriously.

Your great great great grand children are depending on you to pass the baton handed to you from your great great great grand parents.

Will You succeed or just quit the human race ?

no pressure – it is your free will choice to recombine with other humans or to embrace extinction and accept your own DNAs personal genocide.
