The 19th Amendment was passed in 1920 and enshrined into law women’s right to vote. One church leader says that was a huge mistake.
Pastor Joel Webbon, the Senior Pastor of Covenant Bible Church in Austin, Texas, has repeatedly asserted that women should not be able to vote. According to Webbon, the 19th Amendment should be repealed immediately – and he says the Bible backs him up.
It’s a shocking sentiment, but one that is actually growing in certain circles – even amongst women. Is there actually a biblical case to be made for setting back women’s rights 100 years?
The Movement to Repeal the 19th Amendment
Pastor Webbon has frequently used his platform to advocate for a return to what he considers biblical principles in governance – principles that, according to him, do not include women's suffrage.

“Our society doesn't let five-year-olds vote," said Webbon in defense of his position that women should lose that right. Arguing that “a woman is like a child" and that "God has appointed men to protect them," Webbon’s case is that women are plainly too simpleminded to be able to fully comprehend complicated state affairs.
Women are also statistically more likely to hold progressive views – clear evidence, Webbon says, that they can’t be trusted in the ballot box.
"The Christian Position"
The argument is based in an extreme version of biblical patriarchy, where men are the sole providers and breadwinners of their families, and a woman’s place is as dutiful wives, mothers, and homemakers. He calls his support for revoking women's suffrage "the Christian position."
Instead of letting women vote, the pastor advocates for a “household” style of voting, where the man, as the head of household, votes on behalf of his family.
But what about this last election? Webbon did “allow” his wife to vote in the last election, but only as a sort of recompense for half of his vote being "stolen" by millions of women voters.
“My loving, wonderful, godly wife – what we’re practicing is not hypocrisy, what we’re practicing is restitution,” Webbon stated in a recent podcast. “My loving wife said, ‘Wicked people stole half of your vote, husband, and I would like to give it back to you.’”
And apparently, his views about women go beyond just voting rights. In another podcast appearance, Pastor Webbon stated that he "doesn't want to see women in the public square" – a view that critics took issue with.
A Growing Movement
The idea that the 19th Amendment should be repealed and women’s suffrage should be ended is an idea that exists only on the margins of society – for now. But there’s a growing movement of men who are hoping to take this fringe idea mainstream.
John McEntee, who cofounded the conservative dating app The Right Stuff, posted a video mocking the idea of women voters, stating that “I guess they misunderstood. When we said we wanted mail-only voting, we meant male: M-A-L-E.”
Prominent theologian Pastor Douglas Wilson of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho agrees that granting women the right to vote was “a mistake,” opening the door to a repeal of the 19th Amendment. “I would like to see elections where households vote,” he explained, though he also made the concession that unmarried mothers should be able to vote as their own head of household.
And Jesse Lee Peterson, a prominent radio show host and pastor, also concurs. “Women are emotional,” he recently said to a caller on his radio show. “They make decisions based on how they think and feel, and those decisions are always wrong.”
While the ideas of these religious leaders may seem fringe, the pulpits they stand on are not irrelevant. They lead sizable congregations, have been on stage at conferences – and even at times served as advisors to politicians. Exactly how much influence they have on policy is hard to say.
Influence aside, these radical viewpoints raise larger questions: Should religious leaders use their platforms to challenge rights enshrined in the Constitution? And what role should the Bible play in deciding who is granted those rights?

Fascinating how misguided ultra-conservatives like this cite the folklore of an ancient culture as a guide for today's world. Bring them on !! Urge more women to vote and be leaders in our society. In my field of medicine both training and clinical practice have become more humane and effective as more and more women enter our profession. Clearly the Protestant clergy would also benefit by the addition of more women as ministers.
-
Taxation without representation!
Also, if you want women to follow laws, they must be included in voting for them, otherwise it's direct oppression.
Women will vote, men get over yourself.
-
Aside from just being plain idiotic, these morons miss the point that this was some sort of ideal situation where the husband was the breadwinner and provided for the family. There were millions of families severely impacted when something happened to that breadwinner - or he was just too lazy to live up to the ideal. Women have always had to work to provide for them and their children, but societies throughout history have just turned a willfully blind eye to that fact.
-
Also, if they want to use their pulpits to argue politics, they then need to give up their tax-exempt status.
-
And Melinda I would be careful trying to make that point even if its a valid one. As Democrats constantly go into Baptists churches and politic even though that is a sure and swift way to get their tax exempt status revoked.
https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/charities-churches-and-politics which means if they claim to be a 501.3(c) that can be taken from them and then they would be required to pay taxes church or not
-
Except it rarely, very rarely gets taken away from the church. Churches absolutely should pay taxes. People and religious groups should NOT be given “religious exemptions.” Priests SHOULD be Mandatory Reporters.
This whole religious privileges is a load of BS.
-
Oh I don't mind it, as long as they keep their nose out of trying to influence politics. They come with responsibilities and pretty darn specific rules. Ignore those and they no longer have those privileges. It just needs to be more strictly monitored and ruled on when lines are crossed.

This guy has grown to dispise the righteousness of God. God's will in creating women was to create a help mate. Women were not designed to be under the feet of men. God's word does not back him up. This is Christian Nationalism theory, not according to the spirit of truth. Let no man deceive you. He does not speak in the holy spirit. He's speaking of his self. This is not the word of faith. Test the spirit by the spirit. Amen.

Exactly, standing beside the man, not under him. Stepping in to take over when he is unable, and to support him as much as he supports her. It is a mutual relationship, not a heirarchical one. Adam (according to scripture) was created first, but that does not put him in the position of power, because God realized that the man could not do it alone. Then again, scripture was handed down by oral tradition for centuries before it landed on parchment, which was centuries before it was canonized as scripture, so who knows whether Adam was male or intersex until the rib was removed. (Could this have been the first gender reassignment surgery? Interesting concept)

Christofascist MAGAts say the stupidest things!
-
In this day and age, it is idiotic to even think of taking away the right to vote from women. This whole idea that women are second class citizens is abhorant to me. I feel that all religious and quasi-religious organizations need to join the real world. They need to have their tax-exempt status removed.
-
I wonder why Joel Webbon is so threatened by women that he feels the need to subjugate them? I think his words are more a reflection of his personal issues than any biblical mandate.
-
My thought is he’s busy “counseling” children…
-
I feel for his wife. I have to wonder if she is abused.

The poor thing may be having a case of Stockholm syndrome.

Najah Tamargo-USA
Listen up!!! I raised 4 kids (plus a few extras I picked up along the way). I raised them all ALONE and without a dime if Child Support or Welfare. And you think you are going to take my right to vote????? I will not put down what's going thru my mind.....but it IS NOT GOOD!!!!
-
This “person” believes that women shouldn’t vote. I believe he shouldn’t breathe. Neither one of us is likely to get what we believe…
-
As much as I agree with your belief, his is more likely considering the types being voted into the GOP at the moment. It shouldn't be that way but here we are.
-
-
While I used to be republican before Maga and radical right and attacks on women's rights (I am fiscally conservative)., more women are democratic because of idiots like this. Because they want their reproductive control over their own bodies, their full rights to control marriage, equality in family and so on. The more this idiot tries to push male rights, the more women that will go democratic.
Women are currently slightly more than 50% of registered voters, I don't blame him for wanting to remove opposition to his tyranny of religion.
-
This "pastor" is the one that should not be allowed to vote. By what right does he try and deny a person their right under the constitution?
-
Because right wingers are always trying to dictate who can and cannot vote. Duh.
-
Even though a right winger just said women have the right to vote? You read Daniel's post right Robert? Daniel agrees with you. You both agree on the same thing.
Your response? Attack and argument. I've noticed this is a predictable and reliable behavior of leftists. It should show the thinking man there'll be no discussions or exchange of ideas for the purpose of finding common ground when dealing with this mentality.
Agreement causes conflict. Amazing.

What about women equal rights?
-
Women are losing them one by one. Voting would be the next logical step. This has to stop, because this country is headed to a place that makes Apartheid look tame.
-
In the United States of America, part of which is on the Gulf of America, All Legal...Legal... citizens of legal age can vote.
Ya don't have to be smart to get an ID card, only breathing In most states (some not even that it seems) and provide proof of identity, (birth certificate would be a good one) social security card, and proof of residency.
All Legal voters should have Legal State approved ID showing that they are citizens. I have not heard of anyone saying that a normal, Legal citizen should or would have their vote taken away in the USA.
Not even women :>)

Except the pastor this article is about.

A majority of wacky news items here originate in Texas. What's in the water down there?
Let them secede as they've often suggested.
-
Any state that wants to secede needs to follow strict rules of disengagement: 1. Pay back all Federal monies (at current rates) used to build infrastructure such as highways, roads, bridges, buildings, etc.; 2. Give back all technology paid for by federal dollars, which, especially for Texas, will include the Johnson Space Center and all related items. I'll think of more later, but that's a start.
-
-
I have no idea who this man is nor any of the others mentioned so care little what they say. Don't even think about taking my voting rights away from me. As far as I am concerned those types of demeaning opinions may be stuffed up the butt of those expressing them.
-
Many of these ultraconservative preachers (I prefer to use that term as they tend to bombast their beliefs instead of minister to the people's needs) have a very narrow view of what Christianity should be as a result of cherry picking a verse here or there from both the Old and New Testaments. Like using less than 5% of the prohibitions in Leviticus while ignoring the other 95%, and misinterpreting those! To them somewhere around 99.99% of the world's population are sinners beyond redemption. This includes the vast majority of other Christians who are neither members of their personal congregations or follow their podcasts. At the same time, these individuals are pushing for a Christian Dominion version of the United States where their interpretations of Bible teachings overrides the Constitution and the laws established for our government. Lord help us if they ever fully take over because the rest of us are doomed.
-
Perhaps all women should also be required to wear head coverings (1 Cor 11:6) and should shun braids and gold jewelry (1 Peter 3:3). Or -- perhaps we might just acknowledge we no longer live in a a 2000 year old middle east society. (I note -- thankfully -- that scripture fails to address air travel, tne internet, or cell phones, lest they also be banned)
-
While the Pastot is citing the Bible for his beliefs, is he really living a Biblical life or is he a hypocrite? Levitivus has many proscriptions, including: Food Do not eat meat with blood in it Do not eat animals that do not chew the cud and do not have cloven hoofs, like pigs and horses Do not eat fish without fins and scales Do not eat shellfish, like clams, oysters, shrimp, and crabs Cleanliness Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard (from the photograph provided, it looks like the Pastor trims his beard). Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves.

As an aside, I heard that in Hebrew, the letter W is symbolized by the number 6. Ergo, www = 666.
-
Good thing the Intarwebs were developed in computer languages.
-
I heard that Paula and also heard the Monster drink logo was the same. I checked it out, the Monster claw mark logo definitely looks like Hebrew 666.
Unleash The Beast it says.

Oh no, women are more educated than men, more likely to be progressive, less likely to vote for who he votes for. Sounds like he has a personal problem, maybe Mommy told him to clean his room once. He should move to a Muslim ruled country where his beliefs are shared. Another example of an ignorant radical that just happens to be Christian.
-
Wow, just when you think you've read / heard it all coming from the crazy pulpit another thing comes to light. I was raised daily hearing the expression that "the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world" and history is full of these examples of women behind the scenes propping up the men in their lives from the common farmer to statesmen and generals. To even attempt to remove their right to vote and to treat them as nothing more than a floor mat is an abomination and an affront to humanity. Perhaps the good reverend and those who share his beliefs would feel more comfortable in a Middle Eastern society that revels in the subjugation of females.
-
Let’s not forget all of the contributions that women have made that have had great impact on our country and the world. I would oppose any attempt to silence, subdue, control, or subject my wife or other women to live as less than myself. I would think that only those that are intimidated by women and wish to rule over them merely want to control women and or abuse them because they are less than a man. Wrong on so many levels, and if those who can’t understand most likely never will unfortunately.
-
The only difference between the Taliban and conservative xtians? One believes that their main character ascended to heaven on the back of winged horse. The other thinks their belief is oess silly because their winged character didn't use the horse.
-
First of all the United States of America is NOT a Christian nation. The whole idea of the founding of this country was to keep religion out of government. The pastor refers to the Bible when wanting to strip away the rights of women. Whose Bible is he referencing? There are several versions, does he include religious books from other religions? These far right White Christian Nationalists are trying to turn our country into something is was never intended to be. Americans need to stand up against these people as they try to have their religious beliefs rule over our country.
-
This article seems to provide some strong evidence that 'pastor' webbon should not be allowed to vote.
-
Yes, as he apparently isn't able to think or reason.
-
-
Where are his bible verses to back up his limited view? Mary Magdeline is the one who first saw the resurrected Lord and announced the good news to men. The Biblical prostitute Rahab is the one who led to effecting of reaching the promised land by hiding the spys. Deborah led victory against Sisera. so many scriptures pointing to elevation of women to effective voting for sustainable management futures in economies.
-
First you should know as a thinking minister, I see the Bible as two entirely different books. The old testament as a collection of Hebrew sayings, stories, and sayings! The new testament as the story of Christianity and the life of Jesus! Both written by various MEN who put a man's slant on the way women should be treated! So it is obvious that a group of modern men would have women as second class citizens! The Bible has always been interpreted by people with their own ax to grind! So take their rambling as the usual baloney that it is! Our heavenly Father created us as all EQUAL children whether men like it or not!
-
Every Baptist and Presbyterian church I've seen is more aligned with right wing extremism.
-
What would Jesus have said, just saying. Man has brought so much negativity upon humankind over the centuries. Where is the LOVE that is expressed by Christian, as well as other religions with this radical thinking.
-
Well, I’m sure these pillars of faith have surely ramped up the estrogen this morning. Just when you thought you had seen, heard or read the most asinine things ever… surprise! These trolls crawl out from under a big pile of cow manure. Geez.
-
The pastor should be more concerned with bible teachings and keep his nose out of legalities and government.
-
That guy is nuts. He is almost as bad as islamist who treat women as property and force women to cover from head to toe so men are not tempted because men can’t control themselves.
Scripture does not support him.
-
Matthew 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
-
Webbon is a false-prophet preaching politics and religion as doctrine. He has a demonic spirituality that attracts many to his fascist beliefs and politics. He has no place preaching and teaching anyone, especially from behind a pulpit.
-
women are not enemies we are human beings with equal rights and needs above and beyond what some men think
-
Women had the right to vote in some communities long before 1920. In fact, some territories allowed women to vote even before this nation was founded. When I was young, I kept hearing the phrase "it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind", but that cannot apply to the vote, so women lost that prerogative in 1920. All the 19th Amendment did was prevent certain states and communities from keeping women as second-class citizens. I am saddened to find that many American citizens have no clue as to why our nation was created as is. They created our government to give individuals more rights than government has, but that reasoning has been buried with overwhelming legislation that gave our government more power.
-
Hopefully, the IRS catches wind of his political horseplay and revokes his 501(c)(3). What a clown.
-
Why would this even be a topic for discussion? We are not our own, we were bought at a price. We are IN this world, but not OF it. Should we seek to change the Laws of the Land to prevent a womans right to vote? We could. Men could decide to do this and men could achieve it...and woman would be subject to it. But why? How would that benefit Christian Men and Women IN this world that we are not OF?
Furthermore, does man's allowance of a woman's secular right to vote cause men to disobey God's Law as taught in Romans? And, yes - I did use the word allowance - because that is how it was achieved in 1920's. Women cried out - with a valid grievance - and men heard them. There was no "fight", women have the "right" to vote because men allowed it. Men "gave" it to them. That's the reality of the situation...or is it? So, did men ever have the authority to deny them?
SO, I get to my point. Our rights are inalienable and are endowed upon us by our Creator - according to the Law AND we do hold these truths to be self-evident. This very law, we are bound to abide in so long as it does not require us to violate God's Law. If our rights were "given" to us by man...then they can be taken by man. But, if our rights are given to us by God, then no man can take them away. Ergo, man does not have the authority to "take" or "give" rights away. We can pretend that we do. We can dress up and write eloquent arguments on gold-bound paper to the effect. And, we can use the strength in our arms to enforce it. However, when man does such a thing, he takes from others what God has bestowed and will be subject to judgement.
If a man seeks to take from you that which God has given you, then that man acts in defiance of Gods Will, Written law, and self-evident truths.
-
Religious beliefs are 100% moot when it comes to the vote, or any other government matter. It is unconstitutional to use religious belief to make policy or law.
If my own religious beliefs were enacted intolaw, anyone who has ever deliberately or by negligence harmed a cat would be put to death. But that's not Constitutional either. So I don't go around advocating for it like a crazy person. That's how this works. We get to have our own religious beliefs, and other people get to have theirs, and they all stay completely out of government affairs.
-
On one hand women being deities and should not be part of a male dominated system because they are being harmed by men in it and if they create their own logic they could develop their own system to make laws to prevent men from harming them (before the war women were not human) and treated more as Deity where they never worked or participated in a male systems, were respected, rewarded and protected for having children that provided legacy and built the economy that grew nation's, then yes but only if men adhere to women having external rights and governments of their own to protect them from male dominated forces in patriarchal societies already functioning in society, we would need time and space to develop our own system.
But I want to point out, that the monistaic systems of religion do not do what the Christians do.
They are altruistic to just their faith, they do not pursue, nor punish, nor push others to believe their traditional faiths and in fact don't allow other faiths to participate in their practice, they veiw them as having a faith of their own and are only obstinate of practices that judge or sit in criticism of their faith.
So where exactly do Christians fit into the monistaic faiths....
Christian's are meant to serve a God, fill themselves up with the knowledge of their God and serve the people by example not force.
The Christians today appear to be much more a status of white liberation or supremacy. Where force to observe their faith is allpied liberally with the help of governments and media.
Why are Christians looking like a dominating male, white race forcing their logic on the public when that is not a truth to any spiritual faiths practice...and who is running a spiritual faith as an oppressive society with status above the human race?!
Fellow ministers of a faith open to all I ask... How do we rein in a false profit and control it to protect the people from something that is using one of our best faiths in political and media influenced powers and control, if the Christians won't see themselves as being used as a force this way and are enjoying the increase in congregation and power it avails them and not being true to a faith...a faith like Christianity should be protected from this type of currption of government and media influence.
In Gods I pray we can resolve this with peaceful efforts of our combined faiths.
-
I feel sorry for his wife. I wonder what he does when she misbehaves? It can’t be good.
-
Well, maybe for him....

IMHO, Heaven will be a MAGAt free place.
-
It seems those individuals who want to remove women's right to vote never read Proverbs 31.
-
lets put it simple, hes using a bible to be sexist to women, because hes a grumpy old man that has nothing better to do but be sexist towards us women, women are allowed to vote, we live in the country too, not just men, and if he dont want to see women in public square then he dont have to be there
-
This pastor has lost his mind. A fake minister trying to return to a time when women were servants and not a human being. How many nut jobs attend his church/.
-
I believe their views are misguided, even based on the scriptures. But regardless of scriptures, these are different times and cultures. We no longer stone people, etc., at least in the U.S. I truly believe as a non-Christian, that the NT scriptures of what Jesus may have believed, support the equality of women. And if one wishes to go back further, to Genesis, OT, the serpent was feminine and imparted wisdom to Eve. That is according to some interpretations. So, women may have been held in higher esteem than what this pastor wishes to believe. As a woman, of course, I am biased and believe myself to be just as intelligent and capable as any male. I need only refer to the photo taken of the woman who wrote the code for the first mission to the moon, which was nearly as tall as she was. And there are so many more examples of the power and intellect of women I could cite. I do not feel the need to do so. My husband knows and respects my intelligence and asks me all sorts of advice, even on technical home stuff. I also climb the ladders high to do work on the house because of his fear of heights. So, tell me, am I inferior? I can read the scriptures in ancient Greek. Am I inferior? Should I not have been allowed to learn ancient Greek to interpret the scriptures because I am a woman? Alas, I feel pity for this pastor and for his wife. They do not perceive themselves as equals.
-
Timothy 2:11-12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 are New Testament passages that have been used to justify the subordination of women.
To each their own.
-
Timothy has been proven to be a post Pauline addition. The style and message are completely different from his letters to the Churches, where he actually praises women in leadership roles. These are the same people using the 1850s American Edition edit of the KJV to ban homosexuality. The original Hebrew and most translations including the Koine Greek and Latin from which the KJC was drawn actually bans Pederasty. The fact that a King who was publicly very homosexual would have banned his own self bends the mind.
-
I would take this a step further and say the entire New Testament was written in retrospect.
And the only purpose of my message, was to provide a possible justification for what this pastor preaches. I, personally, am not "Christian" but follow a religion of my own making instead, a sort of "syncretism".
Thank you for your contribution. It is refreshing to see!
Wish you health and happiness!

You mean "To each his own". You should use old adages correctly or not use them at all.

It's EXACTLY as I wanted it. And I will continue writing EXACTLY as I want to ignoring your likes and dislikes that you think you can impose on others.

Okay, well, next I will be waiting for an article on those MUSLIM clerics in Saudi Arabia (or anywhere else in the Muslim world) who think giving the women the right to vote in 2015 was a very bad idea.
However, from the trend I have seen in these various articles like this, I will be waiting a long time
As far as this article goes; this is a fringe position that is ridiculous to the vast majority of conservatives, even those that identify as MAGA supporting. Probably not equal to but roughly in the same category as those today who believe ending slavery was a bad idea.
I imagine a lot of his supposed "authority" on this comes from 1st Timothy 2:11-15. So make of that what you will.
Bottom line; It's not a serious issue.
-
Why would the laws of the US have anything to do with what's going on in Saudi Arabia? And no, it is not as fringe as you might think these days. The Roe overtern was thought to be a fringe idea and look what happened there? Nothing should be thought of as fringe when it comes to what these "Christian Nationalists", who are congress people currently in the GOP trying to push through such nonsense, as they do seem to be making a LOT of headway in these matters.

In closed-door negotiations on a political declaration for the Commission on the Status of Women, or CSW, the U.S. joined forces with Russia, Argentina, and other conservative states to strike language promoting efforts to achieve gender parity at the U.N. In particular, Washington has proposed weakening or ditching provisions that encourage states and U.N. entities to expand the role of women in peacekeeping and diplomacy and to select a woman for the top U.N. job.
“Candidates should not be selected based on sex but only if qualified,” said a U.S. official, urging delegates to water down language encouraging member states to nominate female candidates for the top U.N. job, according to notes of the confidential proceedings. Russia, which has aligned increasingly with the U.S., asked that the provision on the race for U.N. leader be stripped out altogether.
-
If that were actually the case then we would have had a LOT more women in there ages ago. If they are truly interested in qualifications then they would be laying down what would make a person more qualified, such as actual education and real time experience in those positions. They all take an oath to uphold the constitution but it seems a precious few even know all of what is in it or what any of it means. All should go through an honest review hearing before qualifying by outside independent parties, not friends or colleagues that might include friendship or rivalry issues over actual qualifications.
-
my experience first i got the job then i had to put in an application or i never put in an application. Where I put in an application I never heard back.

What a stupid point of conversation. Anyone trying to defend this idiot does not believe in equal rights. It was a woman that was the first human to become 'aware'. it was Eve. Remember her. And it was a woman that was the first Apostle, Mary Magdalene. She carried the message of the resurrection.
-
And then there's Lilith.
-
-
We are all created equal in our Creators eyes. Mankind has caused the separation, we all have caused a great separation among ourselves in every area of life. This world was only created to sift out the kingdom of God. Here on mother earth we are able to have free will, male or female no matter what nationality, religion nor financial status matters. We will all someday meet our maker, because we are all children of God and we all hold the Divine Breath of Life within our body. Loving one another and being on one accord is the only thing that matters. We have gotten so far off track, it's unreal. Our anatomy is male or female this is the only way to reproduce not to biblically set us apart. Divide and conquer says Satan to his children. WAKE UP!!! YHWH loves all creations, not just some. We were giving dominion. LOVE FAITH and GRACE are the keys to the kingdom of MY GOD. nothing more nothing less.
-
The thought that so many have turned away from the teachings of Jesus Christ to promote their minded ideas of Christianity is disgusting. I moved away from the Christian teachings of today simply follow Jesus Christ teachings, and call it Christ Way Ministries. I am so sick and tired of those who claim to be Christians and are not.
-
Women are the givers of life, responsible for bringing new souls into earthly existance. They nurture and care for us until and even after we are grown. If anyone should get a “family” vote, it should be them. Lately, I feel like I’m in the twilight zone.
-
Seriously? ULC you are actually going to put this trash up for discussion? I guess I expect better than that. I guess I was wrong.
-
Barbarous pastors like this need to be revealed, illuminated and discussed. I wonder Brien, why would you object to this?
-
My objection is that it is so ridiculous that giving it any discussion time is just offensive. I don't want to give any airtime in order to create a controversy bubble. I simply do not give toxic people ANY attention at all. I do not expect intelligent people to even consider this a discussion. People like this need attention to survive. Giving attention is just feeding stupidity. If you wish to feed this filth, then maybe you're toxic too. Peace
-
Ignoring them is far more toxic. Things do not go away when simply ignored. They fester and grow out of site. If they are not discussed openly so more people are aware then they can leak into the hearts and minds of otherwise good people who just might not be aware of just how terrible those ideas are until they see points from both sides to understand consequences of trying to push them.
-
You were doing reasonably well until your last sentence. Apparently everyone here discussing this creep are "toxic too"?
I see no discussion of filth here, I see a discussion of misogyny.
-
Please by all means, believe what you wish. Advertise what you wish. I choose not to give this topic a voice. You can make your own choices.
-
Brien: "I choose not to give this topic a voice." And yet you have. Three times.
-
No, I have simply defended myself. I am not the type that "turns the other cheek". If I see something wrong I say so. You don't need to respond yet you do. I am perfectly happy to egg you on 😁
-
-
-

This world is filled with toxicity. I agree and believe it does cause more people to say idiotic statements just to have attention but it is being revealed. The sifting is taking place. Keep your peace and know God is working for your good. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, that's what make this world so great. We can except truth or deny it.. CHANGE WILL COME it always do. Keep Faith!

Although the Constitution did not refer directly to slaves, it did not ignore them entirely. Article one, section two of the Constitution of the United States declared that any person who was not free would be counted as three-fifths of a free individual for the purposes of determining congressional representation. The "Three-Fifths Clause" thus increased the political power of slaveholding states. It did not, however, make any attempt to ensure that the interests of slaves would be represented in the government.
Transcript The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.
No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.
Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.
You should not have right to your vote if you are in debt. The bank that owns your debt should cast your vote for you.

Originally, sure, but there are also guidelines on how to change those articles and there have been changes made through the years as to who is represented and who isn't. In fact there are efforts currently being made by the GOP in office to reverse those changes. I'd suggest making a point to check the bills the yare working on at the government site... that is if they haven't started gutting those public notices on their site as well.

USAID staff members were told to shred and burn classified and personnel documents at the agency’s former headquarters in Washington, D.C. yesterday — an order raising legal red flags. The American Foreign Service Association warns this could violate federal records laws, especially amid lawsuits over USAID’s dismantling.
“Shred as many documents first, and reserve the burn bags for when the shredder becomes unavailable or needs a break,” wrote Erica Y. Carr, acting executive secretary at USAID, in an email obtained by Devex. Staff members were told to label burn bags “SECRET” and “USAID/B/IO” in Sharpie markers.
Democracy Forward and Public Citizen Litigation Group promptly filed a motion for an emergency temporary restraining order to stop the destruction of federal records.

Christian friend, consider these two things:
Do human rights exist on paper or do they exist in eternity? Do our rights disappear once the paper they're printed on burn up? Do I always have the right to life and speak or do I because a paper says it?
At the time of writing this there's been 71 posts. Not one single person on this site is in favor of preventing women from exercising their right to vote. Not one. Hard lined christians and those christians trapped in a cell of the woke hive mind all say the same as the atheist, Satanist, witch and everyone else. We all agree.
What's the outcome? Arguing, degrading, belittling and in general antichrist as a wholesale item in the express checkout lane. Christian friend, you are and always will be the enemy. Just look around. Look around the world and see what happens when Christians are in season.

Beloved in Christ,
This is Rev. JTSunrise of Celestial Nexus Church in Seattle, WA. I write with a heart full of compassion to challenge views presented in the article. Our Savior reminds us in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” In His infinite mercy, God forgives those who wander from His truth, and He calls us to extend that same grace—even when we encounter ideas that twist His holy Word.
We must be ever mindful that true evil exists in our world, and it is not the misguided declarations of those who err, but the deliberate deceptions of darkness. As 2 Corinthians 11:14 teaches, “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” Those who proclaim a faith that leads to outcomes contrary to the love and righteousness of Christ are not our equals in His Kingdom; they are, instead, led astray by deception. We are called to lovingly correct such error, praying fervently that every wandering heart may be drawn back into the light of our Lord.
At the same time, Scripture exhorts us to discern the fruit of every teaching. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” We are urged to test every spirit (1 John 4:1) and examine the fruits it produces (Matthew 7:16) so that our lives remain firmly rooted in God’s truth. When we see actions and outcomes that mimic the works of darkness, we must respond not with harsh judgment, but with a spirit of gentle correction and heartfelt prayer—ever seeking to uplift our brothers and sisters back to the redeeming grace of Christ.
Let us also remember that while our God is forgiving, He calls us to stand firm against the true manifestations of evil. Those who proclaim allegiance to satanic ideals do so out of profound error, and their “achievements” are but a temporary, counterfeit display that cannot hide from the eternal light of Christ. Our duty is to uphold the purity of the Gospel and to remain vigilant, discerning truth from deception with love and humility.
I invite you to join me in praying for transformation—a prayer that our erring ones may be gently led back to the saving embrace of our Savior, and that we, as a community of believers, remain united in love, justice, and the truth of His Word. May the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), fill our hearts and guide our every step as we walk in His radiant light.
In His everlasting love and grace,
Rev. JTSunrise Celestial Nexus Church, Seattle, WA

This is a person that believes god was made in man’s image. His faith has many flaws that god both hates and only puts up with in hopes of turning their hate into something he can soften into a real person of love.

Once again, if you use the pulpit for politics, then you should lose your tax exempt status.

God is the same yesterday as He is today and will be the same tomorrow and women are too. It was Eve that was deceived for not listening to the instruction God gave to her husband. The reason we see the problems in the world is because people have rejected God and the instruction He established as His Law. Women have been deceived to believe the role God gave them is insignificant and that they need to compete against men. It is a kin to transgenderism, God created only two genders not the many now claim to be in existence..
In Revelation 12:9-13 Jesus revealed that Satan the devil has been thrown down to the earth along with a 3rd of the angels and that the whole World has been deceived by their influence. The scriptures say that Satan is the prince and the power of the air and rules on the Earth, Matt 4:1-11, Eph 6:12.
Satan is using the same craftiness on women today that he used on Eve by distracting her by triggering their intellect, deceived here that she is capable of more than her God given purpose, all of which have led to destruction because mothers have left the home and raising children to satisfy their own personal goals. Satan has influenced some women to even abort children because their selfish desires. The Proverb 31 woman did not give up her responsibility to take of the home and her children, she did that first and then all the other accomplishment.
Don't get me wrong, Adam was the one that sin because he willing ate the fruit when God told him directly not eat it. Men today are still falling for the same thing. They have given up the responsibility that God gave them to dress and lead his family to be obedience to God.

The Bible said that God said, "every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." Genesis 6:5. So it must be true. Jesus said that, "what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God." Luke 16:15,. So it must be true. Jesus said that those with the smallest amount of faith could throw a mountain into the sea. Mark 11:23. So it must be true. So men need to pass this test. Jesus said that, "the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you (religious men)." Matthew 21:31. So it must be true. Because women were powerless when he lived, Jesus advocated for women in the New Testament against men. Jesus held that women were not less than men in spiritual matters. In three of four Gospels, he first appeared to women upon leaving the tomb. Jesus said that those with the smallest speck of faith could throw a mountain into the sea. Mark 11:23. So it must be true. First, let us see those righteous liars toss a mountain into the sea before we agree with what they say. Jesus said, "In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-18. So it must be true. Let the men drink poison, juggle snakes and heal the sick before they claim to represent what God or Jesus said. What Paul said negatively about women was contrary to what Jesus thought about women and constituted less than 1% of his teachings. All the other 99% of criticisms Paul had about people were about the sinfulness and stupidity of men.
What an idiot. Next thing you’ll know, he’s wanting to take away the black vote.
Taking away the vote from blacks is the next logical step after they decide that their Bronze Age collection of nonsense was right about slavery.
Lol, you guys say things a thinking man might consider really dumb.
Dare I say you are thrilled with today's 22 million strong slave labor. You must be thrilled with it, you never complain about it at all.
Tell me, are you angry with the extinct 3000 year old culture that freed its willing indentured servants after 7 years? Is it because they became free, is that why you hate it so much? You wanted them to be life long slaves like the ones that make your stupid shoes and $1.25 USB chargers? You wanted them to die on the job like our slaves today?
What a bunch of pious platitudes the crazies choke themselves on.
WWJD?
*Pray for the safety and welfare of the wives/daughters/sisters, mothers/and girlfriends of “Pastors” like Webbon, McEntee, Wilson, and Peterson.
*Get involved in your local politics to root out and block anti-women initiatives proactively, not months later after the fact.
*Refuse to support any church/synagogue/temple/etc. that promotes the devaluation and home enslavement of women.
*Challenge and dispute every every statement put out by MAGA/Christian Nationalists/and self-serving politicians which devalue women’s intelligence, diversity, value, and rights.
Don’t be complacent and think that curtailment of our rights as Americans will stop with the repression of women. Read Sinclair Lewis’ “It Can’t Happen Here”. Read about this rise of Nazi Germany and Adolph Hitler’s “gentleman” synchophants. Don’t make the mistake of believing that “the crazy” cannot become “ the norm” in this great country.
