I Found Myself While Reading this Book

By Thaddeus Turner, Mesa, AZ

I've long been interested in shamanism and after receiving the title of Shaman with the Universal Life Church, I ordered Michael Harner's The Way of the Shaman. This book is a well-researched and profound look into the world of shamanism. It's clear that the author is familiar with shamanism, holding a deep passion for the magical world. One of the best things about this book is that the author does not merely explain what it means to be a shaman, he shows the reader all the avenues in which one can enter the shamanic world. This is not a mere explanation of Shamanism, it's a deeply profound guide. I think my favorite part of The Way of the Shaman is the section which describes how to recover your power animal. I discovered my power animal was an Irish Setter, the same dog that won Best in Show at last year's National Dog Show.
