Last week, South Park’s 27th season debuted on Comedy Central mere hours after series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker inked a $1.5 billion, 50-episode streaming deal with Paramount. And the series opener, titled “Sermon on the Mount,” turned its sights on some familiar characters: Jesus, Satan, and Donald Trump.
Jesus in Schools
The episode begins by exploring the expansion of Christianity in public schools, as Jesus visits South Park elementary.
At a packed local bar, townspeople watch as a newscaster announces, “More protests today as the government pushes harder for Christianity in our nation’s schools. The president stated earlier that the spirit of Jesus is important to our country,” the reporter continues, “and he will sue anyone who doesn’t agree with him.”
Outraged, one patron shouts, “What the hell is this president doing? He doesn’t even act like a Christian. Why is he pushing it on our kids?”
Later, the episode targets the school principal, once known for being “super woke,” who’s now embraced Christianity. Speaking to a student, the principal says, “I just realized that the side I was on was hopeless. And in times of hopelessness, one finds Christ. Come to him, all who are heavy laden, and he shall give you rest.”
Meanwhile, a bizarre subplot unfolds involving a romantic entanglement between Trump and Satan.
There's plenty to unpack here, but it's an AI-generated clip targeting a popular Christian ad campaign that has generated some of the most attention.
‘He Gets Us’ Gets Mocked
You’ve likely seen the "He Gets Us" ads many times over the last few years. The $100 million marketing blitz repackages Jesus for Gen Z, presenting the softer side of Christianity’s savior. Gone are the days of fire and brimstone – "He Gets Us" shows Jesus as soft, empathetic, and relatable. Backed by Hobby Lobby founder David Green, along with other anonymous donors, the ad campaign has ponied up the dough for high-profile ad spots since its 2022 inception – including at the Super Bowl.
In parody of this campaign, Trump is positioned as a messiah, disrobing as he wanders through the desert.
“He Gets Us. All of Us,” it reads, before directing viewers to HeTrumpedUs.com.
What the Internet Had to Say
There were plenty of reactions online following the episode.
Some found a scene with Jesus talking about Trump's lawsuit against CBS amusing:
Others were outraged about how the show treated President Trump and Christianity:
Meanwhile, others poked fun at the backlash:
But the internet wasn't the only place reacting.
White House Responds
Clearly, word of the episode travelled to the White House, where officials felt compelled to respond.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers called the show “fourth-rate” and "irrelevant” in a statement to Rolling Stone following the episode. “The show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a threat with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”
Did you catch the episode? What is your reaction?

South Park is and has always been a venue to prompt people to think about a particular issue. To reflect on both sides of the story. No matter what the problem, one side and sometimes both sides will be "offended". It's called constructive criticism, and if you're "offended," perhaps you should look closer at your core values and remember that it's just a cartoon and it demonstrates our right to "Freedom of Speech" in our country. Peace and love to all.

WOW! Lionheart, don't drown in that red Koolade. Everything you spewed is right out of tRUMP's sphincter lips. "The Yale Budget Lab estimates the tariffs would cause the average household to have $2,400 less than it would otherwise have. The Peterson Institute for International Economics projects an increase in annual household expenses by approximately $2,600 due to tariffs. The Center for American Progress suggests that the tariffs could cost American households an average of $5,200 annually. The National Retail Federation estimates that American consumers could lose between $46 billion and $78 billion in spending power each year if the new tariffs are implemented. The Tax Foundation analysis indicates that the implemented tariffs would reduce US GDP by 0.8 percent (before foreign retaliation) and result in an average tax increase per US household of $1,270 in 2025 and $1,619 in 2026. AMERICAN CONSUMERS PAY THE TARIFFS!!! "Ocasio-Cortez graduated with honors from Boston University, where she double-majored in international relations and economics." Both of AOC's degrees make her much more qualified for Congress than the Orange Buffoon. "Kamala Harris's qualifications include a degree in political science and economics from Howard University. She also holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Prior to her as Vice President, she served as the District Attorney of San Francisco, the Attorney General of California, and a U.S. Senator representing California. YES, LIONHEART KEEP SPEWING THE BS ABOUT AOC AND HARRIS.

Thanks Tim for actual facts in response to our QAnon informed Trump worshipper.

I did not. (Haven't watched South Park in years.) But I wish I had.
-
Too funny!!!!

South Park has made fun of literally everyone—celebrities, politicians, entire religions, even Santa and Jesus playing hockey. This is the same show that made Saddam Hussein Satan’s boyfriend. And now we’re supposed to clutch our pearls because they roasted Trump? And he’s threatening a billion-dollar lawsuit? Please.
They’ve dragged Clinton, Obama, Biden, and every liberal you can think of. But suddenly it’s a federal case when the joke’s on him? Trump can dish it out at rallies—but can’t take it from a cartoon? Get over it.
Like it or not, South Park is on its 27th season for a reason. It has a devoted following. And now that both Trump and the White House have responded, it’s become a bigger issue than it ever needed to be. If Paramount pulls the plug just because the show poked fun at the MAGA mascot, it won’t be about morals—it’ll be about political pressure. So much for the First Amendment.
This isn’t Russia. You can’t clamp down on entertainment and the media every time they poke fun at you. It makes you look like a fool, and the world is watching.
-
Trump looking foolish? I think he has that covered already.
-
Absolutely agree, well said. By the way, the fool is going to try and sue. He is actually having a big influence on destroying our freedom of speech. Networks are caving to this Fascist. Media should be highlighting the extortion instead of paying off the buffoon. South Park? ... 27 seasons of lampooning everyone. Nothing is sacred. Paramount made a 1.5 billion dollar contract for a reason. I love it! More please.

I don't think it's much that needs to be said about the matter, okay a joke, I didn't take humor in that, and if we're going to have prayer we need to have it 5 time today, once while you sleep, so if it's in school will be it should be everywhere. At any given time. And so Trump is Trump, I believe all is well. So what is in the office it's the right one, such a time is this.
-
I don't watch South Park but as I understand the show trolls just about everyone. tRump and his ilk are simply easy targets. As to making fun of Christ and His followers, we are used to the world opposing us. Christianity has lasted over 2,000 years and we're here for the haul so are not worried. tRump will be lucky if he is remembered as anything more tan than a footnote in history.
-
Why does anybody care about a weird cartoon? You think they're putting forth sage wisdom?
And the only reason Satan got a part in that episode is he because he's personal friends with the creators.
-
SP has always been a weird cartoon that uses extreme sarcasm and odd humor to make a point about the world we live in. They succeeded in describing Trump's character flaws to a T. And.. unlike SP, Trump is a real person, who decides real things, and doesn't care who those decisions hurt. I suspect any God you might believe in would be very aware of how bad Trump really is.

I'd say, South Park, unfortunately is not a credible platform to carry the weight of what they are trying to do...I think, that is why they are able to protest in such a vulgar way...when you think about how much these topics are being sensored today, this is the genius is artistic creativity, that brings out the provocative meanings in daily events that wouldn't be seen if this didn't have a perspective. Everyone needs a voice.
-
Can't resist. Too many commas, too many ellipses, too many typos, too much word salad, too much judgement based on narrow definitions. Using my voice.
-
Thank God for grammar police. Don't consider the message just troll the commas.
-
-
-
Pretty accurate. Only Satan would build an Alligator Alcatraz.
-
Southpark will be funny, to it's creators, the first few times they watch every episode, in Hell...
-
Hahahahaha! I’m sure they’ll take your opinion into consideration…
-
-
I luv South Park, have since the very first season. Silly crude humor yes, but one of the best comedy shows on social commentary. Nothing is sacred, it's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Don't like it don't watch it. This latest episode is my new favorite. Keep this in mind, the writers speak truth to power. More satirical attacks on tRUMP please.

🕊️ SACRED MOCKERY OR MORAL VACUUM?
Rev. JTSUNRISE’s Interfaith Response to South Park’s Season 27 Premiere “Sermon on the ’Mount”
Where Satire Collides with Faith and Power
⸻
I. SOUTH PARK’S SATIRICAL TARGETS
In its Season 27 premiere, South Park launched a blistering critique targeting former President Trump, Christianity’s public expansion into schools, media conglomerates like Paramount, and the broader dynamics of power censorship. The episode, titled “Sermon on the ’Mount,” aired July 23, 2025 .
Key narrative beats: • Christianity is forced into public schools, with Jesus presented as a Propaganda spokesperson. • A bizarre alliance between Trump and Satan, including a surreal portrayal of Trump’s exaggerated genitalia—raised to grotesque caricature . • A lawsuit plotline, Trump sues the town for billions, leading to a pro‑Trump PSAs series and a financial settlement (fictional) with South Park residents . • Jesus urging silence to avoid cancellation, referencing Colbert’s ousting under Paramount pressure . • The episode functions as a direct swipe at corporate media and legal bullying, while also employing irreverent religious satire and absurdist imagery.
Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker defended the vision as equal‑opportunity satire, leaning into shock as a form of cultural critique—refusing censorship even over depictions of Trump’s anatomy .
⸻
II. SCRIPTURE, SYMBOLISM, AND SACRED POWER
Scripture across traditions directs that even when faith is mocked, ethical response remains vital:
“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed… Always be ready to make your defense with gentleness and reverence.” — 1 Peter 3:14‑15
“A soft answer turns away wrath.” — Proverbs 15:1
The satire in the episode uses grotesque metaphor, mocking religious symbolism (Jesus, Satan), political power, and legal coercion. Symbols can critique—but they can also calcify into cynicism. Scripture prescribes clarity with compassion—truth without cruelty.
⸻
III. PHILOSOPHICAL AND SOCIAL OBSERVATIONS
⚖️ Satire vs. Substance
Philosophy maintains a distinction: satire reveals hypocrisy, but doesn’t build wisdom. Without grounding in constructive dialogue or justice, it risks becoming derision without direction.
🧠 Behavioral Impact
Science shows that audiences absorb repeated symbols beyond irony; pervasive mockery can blunt empathy. When satire portrays Christ and Satan as interchangeable playthings, viewers may internalize cynicism about faith rather than critique systems of power.
⸻
IV. INTERFAITH MORAL GUIDELINES
Across traditions, mockery of the sacred is met with caution—especially when it eclipses moral concerns of justice, mercy, and truth: • Christianity: “Let all bitterness and wrath… be put away… and be kind to one another.” — Ephesians 4:31‑32 • Islam: “And do not insult those they invoke besides Allah, lest they insult Allah unjustly.” — Qur’an 6:108 • Hinduism: “Harsh speech cuts like a sword. If you receive harsh speech, meet it with sweet speech.” — Dhammapada
The moral line is crossed when satire demonizes without recognizing the humanity of the religious or political figures it targets.
⸻
V. REV. JTSUNRISE’S INTERFAITH RESPONSE 1. Satire’s calling card is truth—not offense. It must expose, not obliterate. 2. Mock humor emerges ethically only when it serves reform. Otherwise, it becomes spectacle. 3. Jesus in the cartoon pleads silence—symbolizing institutional fear, not faith. This meta‑narrative reveals power’s frustration, not Christ’s call to courage. 4. Trump’s caricature as Satan satirizes authoritarianism—but conflating demon and president risks spiritual confusion.
⸻
VI. CONCLUSION: DIALOGUE BEYOND DERISION
Sidestepping neither faith nor critique, Rev. JTSUNRISE invites a higher standard: • When power sues dissent into silence, satire is justified—but must be tethered to constructive moral language. • When faith traditions are mocked, believers need not retreat—but respond with integrity, clarity, and compassion. • When satire reduces symbols to shock, viewers bear the burden of discernment.
“Even in laughter, let your discernment speak. Even in mockery, let justice sing.” — Rev. JTSUNRISE

Matt and Trey for Pres and vice. Coen Bros for Sec. of State and Atty. Gen. If you are offended, you needed it!kk
-
Didn't see it but, from what I've read and saw snippets of.. sounds pretty accurate to me.
-
I did see it and it was HILARIOUS! I don't normally like South Park, it's just not my thing it's not anything about beliefs or anything like that. But THAT episode was very amusing. Anyone throwing fits about it is likely in the Cult of Trump.
SOUTH PARK is TRUTH, tRUMP is the WORST and STUPIDEST EVER in THE W H, HOPEFULLY the LAST !!!
I have some Trump Tissues if you need one.🤭
It must truly hurt though seeing illegal aliens being sent back home; borders secured; inflation being finally reduced; money finally pouring into the country from tariffs; our own oil reserves being drilled and shipped to other countries; all while watching the leaderless Democrat Party implode with their lowest ever ratings. Not to worry, I’m sure that the barmaid 🥃🍷 AOC, or Harris 😵💫 can restore confidence back into that party. 🤭
🦁❤️
The Orange Jesus is D. (Donald) E. (Exhibits) A. (Alzheimer’s) D. (Daily). Anyone foolish enough to believe that 🍊🐥🌮 has any value in any capacity is either ignorant or not paying attention. It is a foul, evil and disgusting blithering idiot who has set up a Gestapo regime. Of all the abhorrent, useless entities on the planet, the 🌮 takes the prize.
No offense Paula but the left isn't qualified to spot any sor of mental decline or ineptness.
Not only did you elect a drooling fool you nearly elected an acid head space baby that loves yellow school busses. Have I ever told you if the significance of the passage of time? It's very significant...
SoJ and lion heart, wait until you gentlemen get a strong dose of reality. 🍊🐥🌮 loves the uneducated; he said so himself. (Google it if you don’t believe me.) Charlie Kirk and Joe Rogan are turning against him, but you do you and prove his point. As far as mental health issues, take the log out of your own eye first, so you can better find the splinter in your brother’s eye.
Paula, It never gets old when an unbeliever quotes the document they don't believe to someone who does believe it. Perhaps the Bible is correct when it says you know the truth it speaks but can't bring yourself to go with it.
Anyway I did search what President Trump said as you suggested. He did say he loves the poorly educated. You're mostly correct. I also love poorly educated people because they're able to fill their database with common sense in ways PHd eggheads never can. They have a certain charm that gets lost in universities.
That said, have you ever wondered why I'm able to harshly critique any president while it's impossible for you guys here to even slightly critique any Democratic president?
I wonder who has the log and who has the splinter between the two of us.
No offense, SOJ, but your comment lacks a certain...truthiness.
Glory be to our Orange 🍊 saviour 🤭 who won the majority vote by the electorate. Democracy reigns! We are at last getting back to normalcy. No woke; Safe Borders; 2 sexes; No men in girls bathrooms; only girls playing in female sports; no tampons in men’s bathrooms. Life suddenly becomes normal again. Know what I mean? Hallelujah!
Only 3.5 years to go, and through his miracles on the Mount (W.H.) we might have another 4 years….or more.
Does anyone know who is leading the Democrat Party yet……..anyone? Can anyone save it from extinction? Not to worry, as Kamala 🌮 used to say “What can be, unburdened by what has been” we are now all better off for her word salads 🥦. Our nation dodged a HUGE bullet there last November. Thank god! Oh no! Did I really say that? 🤭
🦁❤️
Who cares about this nation? "We beat the Dems!"!
Kitten butt, inflation is at its highest and people are being trafficked to other countries. Most Everything you just said was a lie. Which is quite pathetic of you.
The democrats are indeed imploding because they keep being spineless performative cowards who back stab what the people are calling for. It’s not the pedophile protecting republicans. I can assure you of that.
Still waiting for getting tired of winning. Also waiting for the billions flowing in from tariffs. Gotta give props for "kittenbutt". I actually giggled. Almost chortled, but settled for a giggle.
You’re welcome, you are obviously expecting way too much in the first few months of this administration after the last disastrous four years. The Biden mess is going to take a while to sort out, you are possibly expecting way too much too soon, but I’m sure it can be done as is already starting to be seen, unless of course you are following the failing CNN network. Hang in there, and you might soon find that your giggles are turning into chagrin in the next few years. Thank you for finding the time to reply. 🤗
By the way, how’s your leaderless Party doing. 🤭
🦁❤️
Well, Mr Ruhnke, of course inflation has been high, and the reason is the last four years, but finally, inflation is back to normal at 2.7%. The first two years of Biden didn’t help as you will see here:
2018: 1.90% Trump 2019: 2.30% Trump 2020: 1.4% Trump 2021: 7.0% Biden 2022: 6.5% Biden
2025: 2.7% Trump 6 months, is the lowest since President Trump was last in office.
I’m not aware of American Citizens being sent to other countries, or are you referring to illegal aliens who broke the law entering the USA and then stupidly refusing the very kind offer to self deport safely to their country of choice, hoping they will never be caught?
Get back with me when the Democrat party has established a leader and knows where it’s going……….no rush, you’ve got at least 3.5 years, and the positive way things are now at last going you might have wayyyyy much longer. 🤭
🦁❤️
Kitten Butt, you’re forgetting the part where Trump is responsible for all the latest inflation because it was his policies that launched them, not Biden’s policies. But keep quoting misinformation and propaganda. It’s all you’re good at. No better than the other talking heads here. At least the other trolls have left. Your awareness is as pale as your skin, instead of kitten butt, i think Butt Blind is more appropriate for you. Like the rest of the Butt Blind magas. 😉 😜
🌳🧍♂️
Bless your heart Mr Ruhnke. I can see you are struggling very badly with TDS to the point that you have a need to behave and be disrespectful like so many others that are disappointed they lost the Election. I’m sure you’ll eventually get over it, so please just give it time. Those of us on the right are all pulling for you to get well, so hang in there, we all honestly think you can do it. ❤️
🦁❤️
Robert,
The people being trafficked to other countries are those being kidnapped by unidentified "ICE agents."
I certainly hope they are unidentified ICE agents that are doing their job of upholding the law by attempting to get illegal aliens out of this country. It’s really sad isn’t it that illegal aliens will put their families at risk still think they can remain in this country and get away with it, and then lean on the left-wing media to try and get support to remain here as illegal aliens when they get detained. I blame the adult parents who tried to get here illegally trying to buck the system hoping they will get away with it. Thank goodness, we have law and order in this country.
Don’t forget, as Democrats love pointing out, no one is above the law, or had you forgotten? 🤷
🦁❤️
Sir LH,
You said "Don’t forget, as Democrats love pointing out, no one is above the law, or had you forgotten?" It is unfortunate that the unidentified ICE agents (complete with masks) have forgotten, that is, if they ever knew. There is still something called "due process" in this country and all people accused of anything have this right whether they have legal paperwork or not. If someone in a mask grabbed you off the street and said you were subject to having your naturalization recinded because you missed a hearing back in 1983 (whether true or not) and were now subject to deportation, threw you in a cage in a swamp for 60 days and then put you in a plane and you ended up in a country you had never been to, you wouldn't consider you got what you deserved, you would believe you had been kidnapped and were a victim of human trafficing.
For the life of me, I don't understand why the agents are concealling their identities, unless they are are deputized civilians, PIs, and bounty hunters acting as ICE agents. If they have badges, they don't show them. When asked to identify themselves, they refuse. Nobody today could tell if a person is being abducted or arrested, and that's not right in any civilized society. Denying due process is acting above the law. Acting as a government agent and refusing to identify yourself as such is putting yourself above the law. Being an unidentified ICE agent is an oxymoron, mainly because there is no reasonable explanation for them to be deep undercover. A deep undercover officer would not participate as law enforcement in any raid.
What is happening is due to a quota of 3,000 arrests per day, or those with the fewest arrests will lose their jobs. They grab as many as they can, and a lot of them never see a courtroom because the arrest was bogus, but the arrest still counts and even if it was unjustified/biased/profiled, it is likely to be a ding on their next review in immigration court (assuming they weren't already citizens and subject to periodic reviews. Where is the best place to find people who might have a traffic violation and coerce them into a fight with an unidentified law enforcement official, or someone who may not have all their paperwork in order than hanging around an immigration court or a Home Depot where day laborers convene for a day job..
Even Trump, as the Epstein files may initiate. Or is it only Hillary's Pizza Parlor that concerned you?
I’m sending some tRump toilet paper your way. Enjoy!
I didn’t know you had extra to give away so that’s kind of you. Did you buy them with the Trump Tissues?
🦁❤️
"Did you buy them with the Trump Tissues?" I'm sure that it is meant to be witty, but it makes no sense.
The border and illegals I applaud. Tariffs don't pour any money in, it comes out of our pockets and we've been boycotted by many countries. Please explain if I don't say this right, but if everything costs more and the dollar is worth less(buys less than before) isn't that the very definition of inflation? As for burning through our reserves, do you understand why that was created? Apparently not. As for South Park, they are great, Haven't laughed that hard since the early episodes. Donnie throws a lot of stones at everybody to assuage his own shortcomings. And he has a seizure over the slightest threat to his ego. I'd pay good money to see his face watching that. The little hands, the picture with the sheep on the white house hallway, Beautifully done. If he had a sense of humor he'd of laughed it off like Obama would have done. Only the insecure would cry over that episode.
Soutparrk is truth? Golly John, ya've got a funky interpretation of reality, fella.
On a side note, the creators of South Park have poked plenty of chests. Got into some funky business where people threaten to kill them and other junk along those lines. Few times I guess. They keep at it. Good for them, the got guts.
They've dragged pretty much any political personality, religion and outlook through the mud. Except Joe Biden. I don't blame them, I'm not sure how I'd write a joke about an old guy taking a shower with a 7 year old girl either. It's really not very funny.
Meanwhile Trump has actually committed SA of young girls and rubes like you cheer him on. It’s pathetic and sad of you SOJ.
He does not do girls under twelve. He said that and he never ever lies He said that also.
Show us the “truth” about your opinion that President Biden showered with a 7 year old girl. Use one or more verified sources of truth.
I agree with everything that you have said in this post, although I do believe that they have given Joe Biden his fair share of ribbing. But then again, Joe Biden hasn't given them the fodder to work with that Mr. Trump has.
Trump is the gift that keeps on giving to comedians. Laughing is good for the soul.
And still, TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT. MAGA, BABY.
And still, my flag is at half-staff, protesting the loss of dignity and honor of the Office of the President of the USA. It'll be back full-staff on 1.20.2028. I hope.
One of the least popular in American history. Residing over the weakest it’s been in decades. I wouldn’t be gloating about that.
I will will never acknowledge that orange, filthy, odiferous and unutterably stupid THING as president. It is an obscene traitor who should be punished for his crimes!
You don’t have to acknowledge your President. I remember what it was like for me with the embarrassment of knowing Biden was president. Well….I think he was…..but who really knows? There’s lots of conjecture about that. In fact, I’m not even sure HE knows who was President. 🤷
🦁❤️
Lionheart, what is your endless obsession with Biden? Worrisome, brother.
Unrelatedly, you used to be occasionally witty and frequently courteous but these commendable traits sadly continue to diminish.
Seems like he might have caught BDS...
And clearly Satan is YOUR president.
I guess we are relying on Satan then to get us out of this mess the previous president got into. 🤭
🦁❤️
