The message from public health officials is clear: wear a mask to help protect yourself and others from coronavirus.
But not everyone is on board – particularly some members of the faith community. More and more, people are citing their faith as a reason why they shouldn’t have to wear a mask. We recently wrote about Ohio State Rep. Nino Vitale's argument that faces are the “likeness of God”, and that it is therefore immoral to cover them. His claim was roundly criticized, but recent public hearings show that this idea does indeed resonate with many Americans.
Because face-covering policies are instituted primarily at the local level, city council meetings across the U.S. have been ground zero for the backlash against mask-wearing. Take Palm Beach County in Florida as an example. They county made wearing masks in public mandatory, and many residents weren't having it:
One woman threatened that city council members would face retribution for their mask policy. "Every single one of you who are obeying the devil's laws are going to be arrested," she asserted. Another community member stepped to the microphone and told the assembly that the city council "wants to throw God's wonderful breathing system out the door."
Churches across the country have been pressuring government officials to let them stay open and continue offering in-person services – sometimes with disastrous consequences. But it seems the lesson that coronavirus poses a real threat has not yet been fully learned, even by those in leadership positions.
A Papal Scolding
Pope Francis gave some of his strongest words yet for religious leaders who defy safety measures during the coronavirus pandemic, likening those who resist life-saving measures like wearing masks to “adolescents”.
The remarks were made at the Vatican on Sunday, June 21st, to an audience of frontline workers from a region of Italy hard-hit by coronavirus. He praised their heroic service and sacrifice in the midst of the pandemic, and also praised church leaders for their “creativity” in servicing their flock digitally.
“They were fathers, not adolescents,” the pontiff said, then later said there was an “adolescent resistance” by many priests to close church doors during the pandemic - despite the fact that churches have repeatedly been hotspots for outbreaks.
How Masks Became Political
Even though Pope Francis’ words were delivered to a small group of healthcare workers from Northern Italy, they’re relevant worldwide, particularly in America where safety measures like wearing masks and social distancing have been politicized. There are hundreds of videos online of individuals entering buildings without masks, defying public health mandates and putting essential workers and other patrons at risk.
“The mask has become the ultimate symbol of [the] new cultural and political divide,” said a Politico piece published last month. “For progressives, masks have become a sign that you take the pandemic seriously and are willing to make a personal sacrifice to save lives… On the right, the mask is often seen as the symbol of a purported overreaction to the coronavirus.”
Would Jesus Wear a Mask?
How would Jesus respond to the pandemic? Some argue that refusing to wear a mask defies the Golden Rule that underpins many Christian teachings: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Pastor Kate Murphy took this idea and penned an op-ed asserting that Jesus himself would wear a mask.
“The bottom line for Christians is this: Even if you believe that the fear surrounding COVID-19 is not justified, that fear is still real. And Jesus didn’t insult or belittle people who were afraid. He went out of his way to come alongside them. Jesus went out of his way to show — in his flesh — that their lives mattered to him… Wearing a mask is a practical way to show that you love your neighbor, to lift the burden of someone who is afraid instead of adding to it.”
Pope Francis likely agrees. In his remarks he said that “God created us for communion, for fraternity, and now more than ever the pretense of betting only on one’s self has proven illusory. It’s illusory to make individualism the guiding principle of society.”

Yes, you are right to quote the scriptures on obedience. But, as a man of God I have to put everything under the final word before I know that it is God's will for me. I have witnessed the mandate of wearing a mask bring forth God's authority over disease to heal a woman, allowing her to comply with the law. At the same time, my son (Jeremiah Judah) who is a miracle child, was born with a disability and cannot wear a mask. I prayed and searched the scriptures finding that God says in Mark 16:18 that he gave us authority over all disease, poison, and even death through the cross. Jeremiah has had no complications at all other than being refused service at taco bell, denied entry to walmart to buy food, and people in the community saying hurtful things like (he is going to die from Corona virus) all because he can't wear a mask? Do we live by the civil government law, or by faith? The JUST shall live by faith, and God's grace of course but, why have we gotten to the point that we are discussing if we are guilty in God's judgment if we don't cover our faces in public? What happens when the Civil Government releases the vaccine and says that it is law that you have to get it or, you can't purchase anything? Will it still be Paul talking to the Christians in Rome telling them to obey, and keep the peace with the Roman Government or, will it be Revelations 13:16-17 mark of the beast to purchase and sell. I truly believe that wearing a mask is going to do nothing to prevent you from getting the virus. Jesus said out of all that I have, I shall not lose one! There's coming a time when the civil law is going to put separation between man and God, and we better be prepared for it when the time comes. Whilst not having the capacity to stop virus particles the masks do pose risks to the wearer. The higher percentage of CO2 in exhaled air is exhaled because it is toxic to us and needs to be removed from the body. When a person dies from drowning, it is the inability to remove the CO2 from their body that kills them first, not the inability to breath in oxygen. Lack of ability to effectively remove CO2 will always kill a person before lack of ability to breath in adequate oxygen. CO2 is a toxic waste product of cellular metabolism that the body must get rid of. Unfortunately, studies show that after just a few moments of mask wearing that exhaled air, with a higher percentage of CO2, is hindered by the mask from dissipating fully before the next inwards breath, causing the wearer to re-breath air with a CO2 percentage that stress's the body due to its toxicity.CO2 molecules are many times larger than virus particles and are hindered by the hole size of the masks filters/fabric. In fact, when a CO2 meter is placed under the mask the levels that the wearer breaths in exceed official safety guidelines after just a few minutes. The situation worsens upon physical activity. Placing the body under this level of CO2 toxicity stress can result in blood oxygen levels of 80% or lower. This is critical, and in a hospital situation you would be treated with oxygen immediately. Such low oxygen levels allow virus's, that can not thrive in oxygen rich environments, to flourish within the body. Oxygen levels this low can also result in 'passing out' which is why we are seeing a few very unfortunate deaths from people passing out whilst wearing a mask and doing activities that require them to be conscious. Whilst most people, who do not have asthma or any other chronic respiratory illness, will be able to carry on with their usual activities, unaware of the changes happening at a physiological level within their body, those changes non-the-less are at best unhealthy and at worst potentially lethal to the mask wearer. Many will develop symptoms such as headaches, and difficulty thinking clearly, which should be taken seriously as warning signs.
Also of concern is that moisture builds up on the inner surface of the mask. Our exhaled air contains moisture. This can be seen when you breath out on a very cold day. Darker, damp surfaces are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Studies on surgical masks show that bacteria that cause pneumonia thrive in the conditions on the inner surface of surgical masks. This is one reason why surgeons change their masks with very high frequently. Anyone wearing a mask, of any material, should change their mask extremely frequently, to reduce the risk of breathing in bacteria that could result in a respiratory infection (the very thing the wearer is trying to avoid). Aside from this, we breath out germs with every breath. Over time those germs can grow and multiply in the perfect environment created on the inner surface of the mask. The wearer simply re-breathes them in.

Whilst many people unaware of the science feel a sense of security through themselves and those around them wearing masks, it is important to weigh up the very real risks to health, for what is no actual scientific benefit. Those that do wear masks should practice exemplary mask hygiene by using a brand new mask every hour. They should also monitor themselves for signs of potentially harmful physiological stress and avoid undertaking activities that increase their bodies requirement to expel CO2, such as physical exertion. Should they develop any signs of bacterial respiratory infection they should immediately seek medical care as bacterial pneumonia, such as masks increase the potential for, can be treated effectively with antibiotics if detected early. I would encourage people to explore fully the CDC website and read the many research articles published in scientific journals of exemplary standing both pre and post the start of this current situation. Just because a Governor states that 'we know masks are effective' does not mean that independent unbiased science supports their statement, or that they are meaning 'effective' at doing the same thing you are assuming they mean.
The original blog post was about whether mask wearing goes against God's will. All of the above does not touch on that at all, and is not intended to do anything more than explore some of the relevant science and encourage individuals to look more deeply at unbiased primary research sources from appropriately qualified independent scientists.

Much earlier in life, if it was socially acceptable Mike, I would not have worn clothes to cover my genitals, but it isn't as quick to get and stay up like it used to be be, and the only thing I can count on protruding is called a healthy, middle age, American gut, which really ought to be covered up. Maybe in another year or so my gray beard will cover it, so I'll feel comfortable walking down the Galveston seawall shirtless again, so I can show off my tattoos, but I'll be wearing a mask even then, except when I take a toke.

When I attended Bible School as a child, then church as an adult, I was told that God was all-powerful, all-seeing. Apparently, these people have a defective God who lost His powers like Superman on Kryptonite. Their God doesn't know if you rob a bank, beat your wife, or burn down a church, as long as you wear a mask! The "Do unto others" that Jesus taught means you wear a mask around others, whether or not you are healthy, so the germs/virus, etc. that were sneezed or coughed or breathed on you by someone else are not passed on to others. The mask "mandates" aren't protecting anyone from Covid 19:
Only specific types of industrial and medical masks effectively block infectious particles. Most, if not all, of the "mandates" allow just about any kind of covering of any type of material.
Particles can infect through eye membranes, so a mask without eye protection is ineffective.
Infectious particles can be picked up on the skin, and transferred to others via objects you touch. Therefore, masks are ineffective without protective gloves and clothing that are frequently changed, and a strict sanitation program for skin and objects that may come in contact with skin (eg. cleaning food packages from the grocery store).
If Covid is as dangerous as we are being told, all used masks, gloves, etc. should never be reused, and should be disposed of in biohazard waste containers. Instead we see people using the same mask over and over, and discarding masks in regular trash cans, if they don't just throw them on the ground in the parking lot.
So, until the mask "mandates" also mandate specific types of mask, eye protection, gloves, rigorous personal sanitation, and proper biohazard disposal, they are doing little to protect public health.
They are, however, creating a false sense of security. As an article in the NEJM puts it, "It is also clear that masks serve symbolic roles. Masks are not only tools, they are also talismans... Although such reactions may not be strictly logical, we are all subject to fear and anxiety... One might argue that fear and anxiety are better countered with data and education than with a marginally beneficial mask, particularly in light of the worldwide mask shortage, but it is difficult to get clinicians to hear this message in the heat of the current crisis... I, for one, don't think it's a good idea to reduce a person's anxiety by lying to them about how their Etsy earloop mask is saving grandma.
The "mandates" are also doing a great job of demonstrating how readily the general public will comply with government overreach, as well as how readily keyboard warriors will skip scientific scrutiny in favor of emotional appeals.
If it makes you feel better, cool, wear a mask. If you're wearing one because you imagine your favorite deity would approve, fine, no problem. The problems occur when government makes unlawful, unscientific "mandates", business owners discriminate on the basis of their ignorant fear, and fearfully compliant mask-wearers disguise their fear as moral superiority.

Because so many people have been manipulated to not take this seriously, there is a need for mandates. We covered this topic awhile ago when Ohio Rep. Vitale first raised this issue. Jesus would recognize the need to protect your fellow citizens from harm. In my opinion, the social contract in "modern" America requires you to wear a mask to protect your fellow citizens. Failure to wear a mask not only has the potential to harm yourself (which is OK with me, you asked for the punishment), but your action - not wearing a mask - could cause harm to others. I equate not wearing a mask to murder, attempted murder or, at best. assault. If you inadvertently spread the virus, you might as well have played russian roulette with a AK47 in a crowded venue. Let your conscious deal with that on your Judgment Day. Also, as was stated by a participant awhile ago, your whole body is in God's image. If you refuse to wear a mask, you should concurrently go naked.

God expects us to follow the laws of our country. Just as in a war and a soldier kills, God does not hold that against the soldier as murder. God also expects of us to exercise good judgement and act in the manner as proscribed in the Ten Commandments and in the teachings of Jesus. A person (such as the woman in the article) who speaks irrationally and casts illogically is not speaking as God's representative. We are expected to act in a manner as to not cause harm. Wearing a mask prevents not only harm to ourselves but to others as well.

It is almost laughable to read some of the coments. Common sense should have told the masses what to question when you have some saying "the mask will do no good". That was all wrong and the head of this country is still wrong. A mask, washing hands, stay away from ..... nothing new but we have been practiceing these simple guidelines for years to control an outbreak. I have been out of the claseroom for 25 years and college for 20 before that and we used that method as the first line defense or start of awareness, good health practices to help control the spread.

So here is something to think about... We have been given the opportunity to obtain free or purchased masks and the knowledge we should wear one in order to help protect us and others from this virus. Are you going to the be like the man in the story? Are you going to pray for protection from the virus and go without a mask? Or are you going to use a mask? I wonder what God will tell you when you get to heaven and ask him why he didn't protect you? Will he tell you, he provided you with the opportunity to wear a mask?
I totally understand wearing a mask is not 100 percent effective in keeping the virus away, however, why not choose to reduce the chances of contracting the virus? God will only give you the opportunity to wear a mask. He is a big believer in giving his children the option to "choose". What will your choice be?

If the "likeness of God" aspect of God's creation of humans, wouldn't facial hair, or maybe the absence of it, be a rejection of God's design? How about a nose job? Cosmetics? Cosmetic surgery? Is being modeled after God about appearance, or other qualities? Are we to seek to resemble God physically only, or in ANY physical aspect. given that God is said to be a spirit? Nurses and Doctors wear them every day to protect themselves from infected people, so why wouldn't we wear them to protect ourselves and others from getting a virus we know very little about? I feel very certain that the government is not targeting churches by saying people need to wear masks and they are not supposed to sing while they're IN church. If a person refuses to wear a mask, well, there goes the barrier against transmitting the virus. Then, if an unmasked person is singing, that will send the particles and droplets from their nose and mouth way farther than just talking or breathing.
I'm a pagan and we do most of our group rituals outside anyway when weather permits. But we have not met in person since before COVID became public. Sometimes we have 70 to 80 people in attendance but we do not want to spread the virus so we are doing what we do virtually online through Zoom.
I find it very hard to believe that anyone is stupid enough to not follow simple infection control procedures like wearing a mask, washing your hands and so on. I think a large part of this could have been prevented if people would have used common sense in the first place and covered their coughs and sneezes, washed their hands and did common sense things like those.
To not listen to the scientific evidence is foolish arrogance. It's too bad that the rebellious ones are willing to let their foolish arrogance kill themselves and other people along with them.

There is no verse that I can think of that would suggest the leper should just wander around and spread his infection around. When God heals all, I can find NO justification for even thinking Jesus would wear a mask, or get a vaccine. Masks in the bible appear to be associated with spiritual infidelity or wickedness - and your words, in my opinion, would qualify. The trouble with this logic is that with this particular virus, you don't really know if you have it or not.... Many people contracted and are completely symptom free but spread it to other people without knowing. Not wearing a mask is inviting other people to die. Being that it attacks upper respiratory system; I make sure I protected myself and them. I also know that for our immune system to recognize it and to know how to fight it it has to "face" it. I never go to the hospital, but I bet there's a lot of sick people in there. Whenever I get a cold, or even hay fever, I stay home. Do you think other people might do that too when they get sick, atleast when it gets bad enough to notice. Before they know they're sick, and it isn't noticeable to anyone else, they just go as bout their lives as usual, spreading illness to unsuspecting people wherever they go. And I'm not only talking about Covid 19. It could be any contagious illness. And there are many. I even once saw a man wearing an astronaut suit and helmet, breathing through a tube connected to an air tank, at the Greyhound Bus station, in Houston. Science is NOT absolute. Although very valuable, most of it is theory and speculation. The wearing of a mask will no more save you than a simple aspirin will cure you of cancer. A virus will attack you no matter what you do. The social distancing, stay at home, and wearing a mask, these are frivolous measures that only interfere with your lifestyle. You yourself cannot fight a virus, nor can all those doctors and nurses trying to save your life. You cannot defeat it. You can only survive it. If you are healthy enough, your immune system will help you survive it. But if you're fat, weigh 300 pounds, smoke 3 packs a day, eat like a hog, and do not exercise, you're already sick; you will not survive a virus attack. This is what the "experts" don't tell you because they don't want to offend anyone. Viruses wear themselves out. Unfortunately, in the process, they claim many lives, and there is nothing we can do about that. As for a vaccine, I wouldn't count too much on it. Not even the regular FLU vaccine works very well; thousands still die from the FLU. A virus is NOT a cold, it's not a tummy-ache, it's not a headache, it's not a toothache. It's a "VIRUS." It can "kill" you. You can only hope, and PRAY, you don't come down with it.

Simple. Their "immune systems" were not strong enough. You can be young and feel strong but if you are not healthy enough, a virus will kill you, especially one of this strength. Many of these hospitalizations are unnecessary. People are showing up with symptoms of a flu. This was on CNN this morning. That's why hospitals are supposedly overwhelmed. I've worked in hospitals, I know how they do things. But Fauci, Gupta, Birx, and Cuomo want to shut down the whole country based on the "numbers." Since this whole charade started, I've been out and about, went to a few restaurants and stores (while they were open). I do not feel any symptoms. My wife recently got tested for the virus, it was negative. Not everyone is going to get sick, many have recovered. But they don't tell you that, they focus on the negative rather than the positive. I am just trying to help so that people are not deceived. Another shutdown of our businesses will be worse than the "virus." In fact, the ones I've just mentioned, they want a complete "lockdown" of our country. If they get their way, millions more will lose their jobs and we will have economic chaos. Economists are saying that, not me. But I concur. Unfortunately, people will believe what they want to believe. Take care.

I did wonder what medical qualifications, and can see that you are no more qualified than any else here to give an authoratitive opinion.

It would appear that, in the UK, when it was announced that the younger generations were better able to resist the virus, due to a stronger immune system, they started meeting in large numbers, ignoring social distancing, and their social responsibilities.
They then go home and put their entire families at risk of death. That is not just the height of immature selfishness, it is also criminal negligence, which warrants a life sentence.
That is the only fitting sentence for someone who takes a life in such selfish circumstances.

I really don't know enough about about holistic medicine to say anything positive or negative about it. It is true your state of mind can and does affect your mental and bodily health and there are some plants and herbs, that we haven't really study discover yet that may have medicinal properties. But for now I think I will stick with common sense and medical science. I will keep wearing a mask, social distancing, stay home and limit my social interaction and only go out when necessary. Stores WILL NOT TOLERATE customers that are rude, disrespectful, aggressive and bully the employees.You can be sued and charged with assault as well. As a PhD qualified and experienced medical research scientist I would like to point out that, while the OP's wording is not technically accurate, his point is very valid.
Many research studies, over 40 plus years, have all found that even N95 respirators have no ability to stop virus particles, which are many times smaller than the holes in the filter material.You will notice that if you look closely at the box your mask came from, it will likely be marked with a small print warning that these masks do not protect from virus's. Masks are worn by surgeons, doctors and other medical professionals to prevent larger 'bodily fluid' particles, such as puss, mucus or blood, from entering the surgeons mouth during surgery, or dropping from the surgeon into the patients open wound. The HEPA air filtration systems in operating theaters are what provide a degree of protection at a viral particle level, not surgical masks. The official public health powers to be eg CDC, WHO, Fauci, have all placed information on their websites, and/or made statements that communicate the point clearly that masks are unable to actually stop virus's. I advise everyone to employ good research practices, such as going to the source ie.actual unedited video footage of interviews, delving into the organizations websites beyond their front pages, reading the full scientific papers for yourself to determine if studies have used proper scientific method, data collection and data analysis, and sourcing any references relied upon: not relying on the media to convey 'facts' to you. Likewise I encourage you to employ the same research principles for yourself to explore further the points I raise here. Proper scientific research and the ability to effectively evaluate research papers involves a skill set that only those who have completed higher degrees in research adequately posses. So if that's not you then it's wise to look at what appropriately qualified 'Independent' scientists (ie. those possessing a PhD in the field in question and not working for the government or funded by government or pharmaceutical grants) have to say.

People need to set their foolish pride aside and wear the mask! If we do not stop teaching our children that it is okay to show disrespect, and to disregard the well-being of others we are doomed! As others have noted: wearing a seat belt, washing your hands after going to the bathroom, and cleaning food prep surfaces & equipment are all things that a majority of folks do out of habit to keep themselves and others safe. Wearing a face mask (and possibly eye protection) is merely a new habit that we are incorporating into our lives to keep ourselves and others a bit more safe from consequences we want to avoid. Being a positive and caring individual is what our religions have taught us to be, for the good of all.

Not only "would" Jesus wear a mask, he, in fact did, very often. In desert cultures, especially in the Middle East, the people wore head scarves frequently to keep the sand and dust out of their face. It was not just Muslims who wore them, Mary wore one, Joseph did and so did Jesus. In fact Muslim women today wear the hijab in honor of their Judeo-Christian ancestors, including Mary. It was extremely common and it is exactly the same thing as wearing a mask today for a purpose such as protecting yourself from outside germs and viruses.

First, I want to say I hope everyone had a restful and peaceful Holiday Season. I have read, and reread many blogs, commentaries, and all kinds of opinions regarding face-masks. And then, I recall G.K. Chesterson's "The Million Masks of God" who praised plain folks for their common sense, common decency, and their humble institutions: hearth and home, the family, the church, and the pub. The underlying meaning (IMHO) is that we all play a role, wearing a mask called the personality, whilst on this journey called life. Wearing a mask over another mask can never hide what our true nature is, and will always be, the One Self masquerading as the multitude.

I did not read all responses, but did not see what is searchable---viruses are around 1 micron in size--even the n95 masks only filter 3 micron size --and good for two wearing to do that..... Maybe the face shields would do some good-but best to stay healthy. Keep immune system maxed out-keep alkalized-- and go outside and breathe and get some exercise for body and spirit.

Would God/Jesus wear a mask? Yes, I believe they would. Yes, we were created by Him. And yes, it's beautiful. But what if you catch this COVID19 virus? We heard a dear friend lay in his hospital bed. He was screaming in pain. The doctor finally, after two days, put him in an induced coma, as that was the only way to relieve his agony. He was only in his 30's. He died 10 days later. He refused to wear a mask. But lets get back to God. See He made us. He gave us a brain so that we could learn. We could focus on family and friends. He gave us sympathy, empathy. And He gave us brains to learn things on our own. Like this virus. It is my great believe that God would want us to be actively trying to stop the disease. See, those brains He gave us, can also be doctors, and research scientists. Together they found that if only every one would wear a mask, practice social distancing, and stay home for 2 weeks, that we could conquer it. God gave them the brain to learn how to stop it. And they have far surpassed it, they made a vaccine. Now, with all that these people have done, with their God given brain, don't you think He gave them the ability to stop it, and we should gratefully, before God, accept it by wearing a mask when asked. So I trust in these great men and women, and I will do most things they tell me to, it will stop the virus in its tracks.

Not wearing a mask and claiming god said you don't have to do it is STUPID. Your god (which ever flavor you like) is not going to protect you...period. You wear the mask or take a huge chance of getting the virus and/or giving it to someone else. Religion should not take precedence over using good sense and listening and doing what science tells you to do to protect yourself and others.

I feel they should go into an ICU ward without a mask and preach their gospel to the patients - without their masks. Then go home to their families and share their Godly deeds to everyone. Also have a medical directive for themselves and their children that any surgeries in the future are to be done without masks for medical staff. Hand washing optional.

Hello. I believe the mask is a good idea. The reasons being God said be clean as I am so clean. This means to wash and keep yourself presentable. The mask can be considered an extension of a nurse or doctor. You are presenting yourself as helping others. We can't tell at this time if it's a little over done or is really making a difference. But don't do it for the government Do it for his obedience and love for you and your families.

I believe Jesus did what he could while he was here on earth to protect us and still does today, but one cannot fight a virus that does not believe in God. So, wear your masks!
How in the world can a virus "believe in God"? What does god have to do with this? Its a virus, not a human. Furthermore, Jesus is doing a terrible job protecting us. Hmm, worldwide starvation, racism and hatred, pedophilia, criminals, thieves, liars, etc. Yes we must wear masks to protect others, just like Jesus said, "Treat thy neighbor as thyself"
We do not rely on Jesus, to protect us, but on Government, and Fauki, an agent of Government, is suspected of developing this virus. Worse, the things we do to "flatten the curve," are all meant to isolate the elderly, curtail their exercise, and otherwise diminish the burden of Social Security and other pensions. Elderly are there for the young to learn from, and City doesn't produce sufficient Young. I would be happier knowing I'd weathered this plague, but most do so without enough symptoms to be tested for infection.
I am elderly, and I want to live to be very elderly. I have a number of medical problems, any one of which greatly increases my vulnerability to COVIS-19 and the certainty of a fatal outcome if I am infected. When you intrude on my social distance, lecture me for sheltering in place (which I continue to do), cough on me, and don't wear a mask, my immediate reaction is that you are deliberately trying to murder me. If anyone claims to be a Biblical Christian they should be at least aware that there is a commandment against killing. So why are Christians so brainlessly intent on my death? Could it be that they are the agents of Satan, not in disguise, but in the illogical and heretical interpretation of their own religion?
Such people are selfish and unthinking. Their actions ought to be seen as a deliberate attempt upon your life and treated under law as such.

Quite a few people are spouting these conspiracy theories. Trump's R cronies won't wear masks. I sat in the house social distancing in NJ for 3 months, going out only for food and medication. I live alone and had no help. Now I had neighbors who had a large party this weekend, with nobody wearing masks. Hundreds of people in NJ are still being admitted into the hospital. Maybe it has to kill someone in their family before they believe this virus is real. Even Fox News is advocating masks now. I am sick of religious people trying to advocate law in the U.S. This is a secular country.

Whether or not the government created the virus (a ridiculous claim, by the way), it is real and the elderly are not the only ones who are at risk of death. Decent human beings, regardless of whether they believe the God Myth, wear masks and keep physically distanced from others. Selfish, ignorant, and/or stupid people do not.

How does anyone person know the true Will of God? Does one person's belief override another's opposing belief? That is what we are dealing with when people refuse to do something because of a belief pattern that is not in accordance with the majority. It is plain common sense to wear a mask in this current time when facing unknown and unseen challenges. Where we can all agree is that God imbued us all with Common Sense - using common sense in the case of wearing a mask doesn't have to involve God's will - God's will is implied in Common Sense. The Common good for all Beings is what is at stake. All anyone has to do is use critical thinking that when we step out of our homes, we face an unseen entity that doesn't care if we wear a mask or not - it will attach to any surface be it animate or inanimate as it can travel through droplets being airborne. My goodness, that is just plain common sense given to all by the Love of God.
