Toronto protester Jordan Hunt

Jordan Hunt claims the kick was an accident and that he was simply trying to knock the phone out of the protester’s hand.

A shocking incident at a religious group’s anti-abortion protest in Toronto has gone viral. It all started with a number of protesters standing on a street corner waving pro-life signs. An onlooker, apparently angered by their cause, then decided to get involved – that’s when things quickly spiraled out of control.

The man, who has since been identified as Toronto resident Jordan Hunt, confronted the protesters and began vandalizing their signs with a permanent marker. As the situation began to heat up, a female member of the group stepped toward Hunt and started filming. The video shows the two arguing back and forth before Hunt suddenly sets his feet, pauses for a moment, and then delivers a roundhouse kick:

Backlash Immediate

The video quickly took off on social media and has since been viewed millions of times, eliciting strong reactions – especially in religious circles. After it was initially reported that Hunt walked away from the scene without speaking to police, many critics called for him to face justice. For his part, Hunt claims it was an accident and that he was simply trying to kick the phone out of the protester’s hand. Instead, his kick missed and struck her in the shoulder.

But his employer didn’t see it that way. In the aftermath of the video’s release, the hair salon where Hunt worked announced that he’d been terminated. Nor is he off the hook from authorities – Toronto police said today that they’re investigating the incident.

Debate Intensifies

The debate over abortion – ever a hot-button issue – has seemed to reach a fever pitch in recent months. One factor could be the high-profile confirmation hearings for the vacant Supreme Court seat, an extremely important position that could impact abortion laws for decades to come. But other incidents have likely played a role as well. Back in June, we wrote about the controversy surrounding a Christian pharmacist who refused to fill an Arizona woman’s prescription for miscarriage medication on religious grounds. There’s also been an uptick in Christian-run anti-abortion centers across the U.S. that critics say masquerade as health clinics and manipulate women into thinking they have no choice but to give birth.

In any case, whether you’re pro-life or pro-choice, surely we can all agree that violence is not going to solve anything. If this debate is ever going to be settled, it will require respectful dialogue and cool heads. No kicking allowed.

Tests show that 3 out of 4 liberals are just as stupid as the 4th 🙂

    1. Rev. Rene says:

Say what you mean, fella, “liberals”??? You mean people who are like Democrats in the States, or Pro-Choice??? Do not, please, hide behind monikers if voicing an opinion!

      1. power to the people says:

Monikers? You mean like Rev Rene? Just jerking your chain…..

BTW, how do you know if Lionheart is a “fella”?

        1. Carl Elfstrom says:

A man should never kick or kick at a woman. There can be no excuses for that. Accident or not, he admitted to kicking at her hand that was carrying the phone, and that means he would have hit her hand to knock the phone out of it, and that would have been just as much of an assault as hitting her shoulder. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on, and rightfully won’t be able to stand on that leg before this is over. Trust me on that one. Call it psychic intuition , if you will.

        2. Carl Elfstrom says:

Good point. Lionheart doesn’t sound like much of a man to me either, the way he hides behind that meant to be ferocious sounding name.

          1. Lionheart says:

I am indeed male, if that’s what you gentlemen are referring to.

Carl, when you say I don’t sound much like a man to you, I’d be very interested in knowing what in your opinion a man actually sounds like.

I class myself as a secular humanist who loves to dwell on reality and live in the present. I also class myself as a gentleman, a realist, and an empath for all those who are very much less fortunate than myself, if that will help to get you started.

In the meantime, I wish you a very good day.

    2. Oh Mo says:

Well, duh! Much like the study that proves conclusively that 1 out of 5 conservatives are just as stupid as the other 4.

Did anyone else notice the satanic symbol on his neck chain !!!!

      1. Mr. J McLellan says:

That may have not been a satanic symbol, to me it appears to be spinning slightly, therefore not necessarily an inverted pentagram. I may be wrong though.

    5. Patrick J. Morris says:

      Perfect!

  2. Phil Jenkins says:

I’m glad Hunt in ‘hunting’ for another job! And, from his appearance, he must have been a cleaner/custodian for the salon. And, kicking a phone at shoulder level, Yeah! What a crock! A normal person would have used his hand, not his foot. He’s just a sleazy no-hoper out on the streets, ‘hiding’ in a mob atmosphere looking for trouble. Hope the cops put the cuffs on;him!

  3. Lea Weisenbach says:

Lets get this straight…There are conservative and liberals on both sides.
I’m Pro-choice but I don’t Beleive in abortions..Yes..its true…Even if they are out flawed they will still be there.
I don’t like violence at all but it dose happen ..Its happened on both sides. Harassing people for any reason is wrong..I think you should have a permit to protest. It should be out lawed..if you set up to harass anyone or business. If not this will continue and violence will happen…He should be charged.

    1. Lea Weisenbach says:

      Typo..not flawed…its out lawed

      1. Alicia says:

And “Does”, not “Dose”. I can’t believe how many people make that spelling error.

      2. b0blf says:

lee: Ought to do your homework. The proper rendition is ‘outlawed’, NOT ‘out lawed’!

        1. power to the people says:

          Alicia, b0blf- Grammar police much?

BTW- b0blf, it’s “Lea”, not “lee”.

Bleeding heart liberals AND the far right continue to destroy this once great country.

    1. Lionheart says:

The good news is that unemployment is now the lowest since man first landed on the moon in the 60’s. That has to be good right?

      1. power to the people says:

That IS good for people like me who actually work, and enjoy working. BUT, it’s more than likely because so many people arew sucking up welfare and disabilty…..which the working folks have to pay for.

We were discussing it at work, and I had one person said “You’re just jealous because you don’t know how to work the system”! lol!!!!!!!

I don’t want to”work the system” and be a parasite.

This whole country is an out of control trainwreck and I don’t see the overall situation improving any time soon.

      2. power to the people says:

I think that’s because there are so many on welfare or disability that there are plenty of jobs for folks like me who work and pay our own way.

I qualify for welfare, food stamps, ect., yet somehow I have a perfectly wonderful life living on what I make at work.

I would never apply for or take welfare.

        1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Don’t be so sure of that. Desperate people do desperate things.

        2. Iconoclast says:

Me either. Why would anyone able to work at all want to be a parasite?

    2. power to the people says:

Anyhow, I find it a bit odd that the whole right to life/a woman’s choice debate hasn’t caught fire here by now.
That “man” will be charged with criminaldamaging at least, possibly simple assault.

He doesn’t need to be put on trial for being a moron, he already proved that beyond a reasonable doubt, haha.

This is the risks to go to protests, specially the ones for good causes. they can turn violent

  8. Katie Kelley says:

If the NAZIS who voted trumpf into office dare call themselves “Christians” they are blasphemers. Further, if the so called f-ing “religious right ” (who are neither “religious” nor “right”) DARE condemn those women forced to choose abortion were to take each and every fetus and unwanted child in our nation and give them homes with decent food, clothing and education, I would have NO problem with them at all. Instead, they are further abusing women, too many of whom have been raped by one of their own special husbands or sons. IF YOU WANT TO STOP ABORTION THEN START ADOPTING FETUSES…PAY FOR THEM FROM START TO END OF LIFE WITH NO COST TO THE REAL MOTHERS. BE REQUIRED TO SIGN UP TO HAVE PERIODIC HOME VISITS TO ENSURE THAT THE CHILDREN YOU BOUGHT ARE BEING PROPERLY CARED FOR, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE DISABLED. Oh. and when one of “yourn” rapes a woman, be sure he is castrated. RAPISTS ARE VIOLENT FELONS AND DESERVE LIFE IN PRISON DOING HARD LABOR FOR THE REST OF THEIR REVOLTING LIVES…AND THAT INCLUDES RICH SCUMMY PREPPIES. YOU CAN’T CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN AND RAPE. READ YOUR BIBLE. GOD WANTED ALL RAPISTS TO BE PUT TO DEATH.

    1. power to the people says:

That’s messedup on so many levels….haha. Geeze, wow.

    2. Iconoclast says:

Clinical psychology is not my forte, but I believe it would not be paranoid for you to have a psyche evaluation, Katie.

    3. Brenda Jean says:

Sorry Katie Kelly but you’re wrong. God saying that we could not be perfect sent his son Jesus Christ to give us an example and to die all of our sins. SIN is SIN!! The judging of your fellow man and the rapist of those poor women. However, each of us was given a choice to make each time every time. We get to choose. Judging is the hardest thing of all things not to do see a girl on the street judge that her skirt is too short to see your boy looking at a girl judging what his thoughts might be on her since it doesn’t matter we need to love one another that was what Jesus left us with love one another as I have loved you.

  9. Alan Meunier says:

The ONLY reason evangelicals are “against” abortion is because their original fight was with segregation and mixed marriages. When those went the way of the do-do bird they needed a new issue to fire up their base. Abortion did not become an issue until the late 1970’s, many years after Roe v Wade. If/when it is overturned what will be their next “issue”?

    1. power to the people says:

      Huh?

    2. Iconoclast says:

      You must be insane.

    3. b0blf says:

      Whatcha been smokin’?

      1. Carl Elfstrom says:

Whatever it is, it’s almost legal, so toke it up!

    4. RevNed says:

Evangelicals are against any kind of birth control because it’s bad for business. Churches need people to fill the pews and fill the collection plate. The best way to do that is to send the kids of current members to Sunday School and make sure they stay in the faith. Compare the Roman Catholic and Shaker business models.

      1. John Owens says:

RevNed, I don’t know where you get your information that Evangelicals are against any kind of birth control. Can you document that?

  10. Christopher Michael Cooper says:

Why not educate society early on on Human Rights and the importance of the APA publication manual?

  11. Iconoclast says:

How on Earth do people like this Jordan Hunt feel morally justified to commit illegal acts, when they are patently IMmoral and atheistic.

  12. Oh Mo says:

    Only two comments on this:

    1. Hunt belongs in jail
    2. Men should stay out of this issue.

    1. Norma Battes says:

      Oh Mo
      October 17, 2018 at 4:11 am
” 2. Men should stay out of this issue. ”
If they didn’t go in to begin with, there wouldn’t even be a pregnancy issue.

      1. Iconoclast says:

Absolutely right, Norma. It is a vacuous sentiment that “men should stay out of this issue.” If the women involved were not involving men, there would be no unwanted pregnancies.

        1. Debora Cousins says:

MEN DON’T GET PREGNANT!! If he can’t carry it he has no business telling Wombmen what to do with THEIR BODIES!!… PERIOD. PERIOD. DOT DOT DOT!!!

  13. Paul says:

Why should men stay out of this issue? A real man would never hit ( or kick) a woman for any reason. It is much easier to just walk away. Hunt should be charged with the most severe charge they can level against him

  14. Rain says:

I think this incident has a lot more to do with frustration over general populous stupidity and the pervasiveness of surveillance culture. This guy was obviously annoyed about not even being able to have a conversation in public with another human without it being recorded by some social justice idiot. Clearly he was just coming to or from his workplace and tried talking to the zealots…that didn’t work so he did a controlled kick to eliminate the phone..yeah it backfired but oh well.

    1. Michael Grace says:

From what I read in the article the phone was taken out to record proof of his defacing/destroying their signs with a permanent marker.

  15. Candace Ross says:

Disgusting! He’s prochoice but pro violence? What an effing jerk. I am pro choice and I can tell you this is NOT what people like me believe in. I hope he gets jail time, and has to pay for her pain and suffering.

  16. RevNed says:

IMHO, the Pope is truly “pro-life” professing human life is sacred from inception to death. Most “pro-lifers” I’ve met believe in the death penalty, which to me really makes them “pro-choice”. Furthermore, if the fetus is sacred, but later the individual’s life ceases to be sacred, what is the cut off age. 10, 15, 18? Most “pro-choicers” are against the death penalty. 🤔 It’s confusing.

    1. Iconoclast says:

Your comparison lacks consideration of some factor., RevNed. The whole purpose for the death penalty is to uphold the sanctity of life. A convicted murderer is put to death to show to the rest of the world that the life he took was sacred. You cannot compare the taking of a killer’s life to the taking of an innocent, helpless child’s life. The “cut-off” age is irrelevant. It is a matter of the person’s respect for the life of others. The only way this can be taught to some people is by taking their own life away. If others see this is the penalty, when they are young, they will direct their own thoughts away from murder, in the interest of self-preservation. On the one hand, it is a mass- or macro-psychological ploy, and on the other, it rids society of predators.

  17. Theinternetiscancerdonttrustanythingonit says:

Oooh. Scary hairdresser with a upside down pentacle can kick women and bother peaceful protest full of women and the elderly must be SATAN!!!!!!! (Or a man-child that has never grown-up ) I’m pro choice but people have rights and there are laws for a good reason and please don’t act like keyboard warriors do on social media in real life or you’ll just make an @$$ out of yourself .

  18. Rachel says:

It should be a women’s choice if she wants to have a child

  19. Dr. Richard Fuchs says:

YES! It DEFINITELY should be a women’s CHOICE to have a child, BUT, that CHOICE should be made BEFORE SHE BECOMES PREGNANT! It is called TAKING/ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR OWN CHOICES/ACTIONS! This is one of the biggest problems in society today; TAKING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL CHOICES, NO EXCUSES!

    1. Debora Cousins says:

Now Now. As a “Dr.” you know that taking responsibility is just one of those lofty ideas that has NOTHING to do with REALITY!! Doctors smoke. Doctors who are fat tell their patients to lose weight. It is just one of those contradictions that just is. Babies will continue to be born wether we take “responsibility”or not. The Wombman is the only one who carries the child and she should be the only one who decides if she wants it or not. PERIOD…….how come smokers can pollute the air? who can stop them? how about folks who defile their bodies and run the cost of Health Care into BILLIONS OF DOLLARS that we are all responsible for not being stopped? Can you stop someone who does not care? HELL NO!! So I say Leave Wombmans’ womb and their choices solely to them. Finding Government HELP after the unwanted child arrives is very hard. And what about the Children who are lanquishing in Detention Centers ripped from their Mothers? What happens to them? Anyway. ……..

      1. b0blf says:

‘D. you sins’: Your comments reek of self-centeredness . . . . .MY body, MY choice MY rights, etc.

What about giving consideration to the body, the rights . . . .of the FETUS?!

        1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Coming from a guy like you boblf that has admitted you fantasized about raping your sister yeah lets just keep that fact you admitted to here on the ULC forums everytime you post, ok people.

  20. oldbill says:

Perhaps the wrong people have been aborted.

  21. stephen kennedy says:

We should stop using labels like conservative, liberal, etc. Labels distract from the issue(s) being discussed.

  22. Rachel says:

Sometimes people make mistakes and get pregnant, they should be forced to have a child they don’t want because people decide for them, who the hell gives anyone that right to tell an Adult what they think need to do with their own body. That’s the problem with people don’t mind there own business.
They people against abortion then should take all the children that people are forced to have.

    1. b0blf says:

‘irr-rachunal’ And, who the hell gives you the right to do what you want with the body of a fetus ?

      1. Debora Cousins says:

It is the Wombman’s body so it is her RIGHT. Just like you can have sex with who you want and place your sperm in who you want and walk away if you want and not give a damn if you want and not pay child support of you don’t want………STAY OUT OF WOMBMAN’S WOMB BUSINESS IF YOU DON’T HAVE A WOMB. IF YOU DON’T LIKE ABORTIONS DON’T HAVE ONE. Just like eating animals and smoking cigs and taking drugs and and being overweight…….ALL PERSONAL CHOICES!! wHO GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO TELL OTHERS WHAT TO DO? WHO DO YOU LISTEN TO?

      2. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Ah Boblf the man that admitted to wanting to rape his sister. Who are you to, well speak, on anything ever?

  23. Rachel says:

Amen Katie Kelly you are right on so many levels !

  24. DR. Richard Fuchs says:

YES, Rachel, sometimes people, in this case, ADULTS do make mistakes. BUT PREGNANCY IS NOT A MISTAKE, it is a failure to plan. The failure was made in the very beginning BEFORE intercourse, when precautions/preventive measures could have/should have been taken. As adults, we must understand that there are real consequences for our actions and we must accept the responsibility for our own actions. IF ONE IS ADULT ENOUGH TO MAKE THE DECISION TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL INTERCOURSE then ONE MUST BE ADULT ENOUGH TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT AN UNWANTED PREGNANCY, This is a choice and I do certainly believe in a woman’s right to choice along with what is called……….
    R E S P O N S I B I L I T Y!

    1. b0blf says:

Excellent! Possibly rapes, incest, etc. might deserve some additional considerations.

      1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

BobLF you mean like when you admitted that you wanted to have incest rape sex with your sister?

  25. Norma Battes says:

(ahem) That’s are, not arew. Just sayin’.

  26. Bro. Chas says:

Not much to debate about this article. Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice doesn’t really matter. When it comes to exercising your 1st Amendment rights to protest, nobody has the legal right to assault another person to any degree. It’s really this simple – assault someone, get arrested.

What many Americans are lacking is a full understanding and respect for how to protest or counter-protest. Peaceful and legal are the key elements that determine the success of any protest in a civilized society. Get a permit, make your signs or shirts or whatever, protest where you are permitted, and conduct yourself with civility and within the law. This is not my personal fairy tale view of how it should happen, this is how our constitution and democracy frame it to be.

Violent protesting has always plagued us as a nation, but recently we have seen an uptick in violent behavior primarily endorsed by far left and right hate groups, left wing liberals and many Democrat and Socialist politicians. I’m not trying to make a political statement here, just expressing the facts. These groups primarily have been promoting and practicing this uncivilized behavior and even feel they have a “right” to act in this manner. They are either ignorant of how our society is designed to function or have no regard for our American ways. They act like a red-faced, temper tantrum child when the adult tells them they must play by the rules and can’t have it their way. They can’t handle it when the adult tells them that it’s Billy’s turn to talk and we shouldn’t interrupt them or just because Sally doesn’t think the way you do doesn’t make her wrong and definitely doesn’t give you the right to spit on her, hit her or throw things at her. Lastly if you’re playing a game of chess or any other game and you are losing, you have no right to scream out “it’s not fair” and then knock over the game board. More than ever, we are experiencing a higher population of people 18 years of age and older who want to be recognized as adults and receive the perks that go with that status, but conduct themselves as an unruly 5 year old and think that they are right by doing so.

I would like to be see how these “adults” would act if their own children conducted themselves toward them as parents like they conduct themselves in public toward others.

So I end with these thoughts. Do to others as you shall have them do to you. Violence begets violence, hate begets hate, love begets love. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Regardless of your faith, these really are universally accepted fundamentals to living a peaceful and civil life.

  27. Linda Happenny says:

Children who are abused and killed by their parents, incest or rape included. How are you protecting them? All this talk about anti -abortion does not solve the problems. Why do you expect others to brings children into this world under those circumstances? You think you are saving the future children? “My body, MY Choice!

    1. Debora Cousins says:

      Totally agree with Linda!!

  28. b0blf says:

‘My body, MY Choice!’ Sounds a bit self-centered. What about fetus’ body?! Not important?

    1. T'Keren Valmaz says:

Oh coming from the self confessed fantasist that yearned to rape his sister this is pure evil spouted from your mouth BobLF
