Do Pagan practices lead to an ecological approach to life? What is the role of magic in contemporary Paganism? How can ancient Pagan codes of behavior be applied today?
Representing diverse arenas of Paganism, eleven established activists, authors and academics passionately debate the critical issues facing modern Pagans. These provocative discussions-exploring feminism, magickal ecology, ancient Egyptian ethics, political activism, globalization, the power of truth, sacred communities, and environmental spirituality -challenge readers to reconsider what it means to be Pagan in the twenty-first century.
User reviewsPagan Life in the Modern World
By Melinda McCollin, Boston, MA I first read this book as a side note to a conservation in a biology course I was taking in college and didnt really get it at first. After starting to practice Paganism in the last few years, Ive pulled this text back out and Pagan Visions for a Sustainable Future has shown me a whole new world of sustainability in a Pagan world. The authors of this text provide a diverse and complete view of what it means to be a Pagan in the modern world. This book covers everything from the use of Paganism in Ecology, Sex, Feminism, Spiritualism, and even how to best incorporate your pagan beliefs in everyday life. I think my favorite chapter is I Am the Mountain Walking: Wombats in the Greenwood, in which Dr. Douglas Ezzy discusses the life that resides in everything, even mountains. Such an interesting book, I make sure I keep this close by my side each time I go camping.
